I personally think that it's because the writers want the audience to have some sort of hope for their own futures, no matter how bad it may be in their present.

She's legitimately an anchor for most of them and Marge encourags it. -Bart was a successful musician so Lisa hides a rescued tiger in the attic that bites him so he can't play (entirely her fault) and when he gets the money to fix it Marge guilts him to giving it to Lisa for the animals. -Bart becomes wildly successful in a new school system and Lisa finds out that lower intelligence students are being trained for low end jobs so shuts it down. Bart goes back to being terrible at school. -Homer literally does everything he can for her music, buys the saxophone, goes against the mob to get it back when he loses it in a bet, pays for her to have a local legend teacher. She claims he doesn't support her at all. In most episodes. She's a self entitled character a lot of the time

This is my favorite episode of the Simpsons period, and in my headcanon is the future of the family, its just so wholesome and let the characters grow just for a moment, I don't watch the Simpsons anymore, but i still love this episode to hell
I don't know if it's something, but I find sad that in most of the future episodes, Lisa still hasn't grown out of the tiny bit of narcissism she has and it's especially apparent when she says there's no me. There's also no Maggie. There's also not a lot of his friends. It was just a basic mural of his childhood from his perspective, but again, she had to make it call back to her. I think Lisa is forgetting about the time where Bart read his teacher’s diary and thinks a part saying “Bart has great potential” (or something similar) was about him and then really started excelling at school, she then read the diary and found out it was about a cat called Bart, and proceeds to have a mental breakdown about it because it wasn’t actually about Bart. She then tells him because she can’t help herself and then Bart’s newfound excellence proceeds to dwindle into nothingness. Whether or not she did it because she was jealous, end of the day she still saw he was doing well and thought it was good idea to potentially undo all of it just so she can feel good about him knowing the truth.
20:40 im 15 now, and i love story time animtors. i watched videos on the floor of my bathroon, too. i listen to them as i draw, walk my dogs, do chores, unwind. My main reason for not seeing this is that I don't currently want to watch something I know will make me weep (same reason I did not see Next to Normal). I love a show that can make me cry unexpectedly but I have watched this anime and I know it will destroy me, so going into a show like that feels like an ordeal, before even booking tickets.
