My kitty Cicely is sitting right in front of the computer screen watching your video with me. Boy does she love Dave's Nemo flying, your flag flapping and your feet pedaling when we can see them. Good thing I clip the sharpies on her claws or my screen would be perforated haha. One of my great friends who I have known since high school lives in Palm Springs. It is a beautiful place.
That vehicle that you were talking about looked to be made to resemble a Filipino Jeepney from the Philippines. They are very colorful vehicles and are used for transportation like a taxi in the Philippines.
Yes, the Skydio has 7 cameras and the only drone that can track so well. It doesn’t need a screen either. I hold a small GPS beacon while I’m cycling which is so much safer.
@@TravelsByTrike oh woow.. that s really cool.. i had a DJI drones couple months back. it s not that easy to pilot. anyway this was a great video. Subed!!
At 4:44 that's a Filipino Jeep, they took WW2 Jeeps and extended them and made taxis out of them. Road on a bunch of them while at Cubie Point Philippines.
@@TravelsByTrike the Filipinos dress them up so fancy that you would think they are going to either a Car show or parade. Also their 3 wheel motor bikes are also done up just as good.
Here in Seattle area, I am still waiting until afternoon for the warmest part of the day to ride. In places where there are sidewalks I think they are great for riding since people rarely walk on them, and I am leery of sharing the road with cars if I'm not forced to.
@@TravelsByTrike I just got back from a short ride. My first one where the chain came off the front and back, so I have some adjusting to do with the derailleurs. I have been waiting until afternoon so it gets to the mid 50’s, or 60’s which is my ideal temperature range where you could go jacket or not. I zipped off the sleeves and put them in my pocket. I just got a canopy that I will graft onto the seat for the hot sunny season for shade and maybe visibility on streets. I don’t know if I need it, but I think it would be easier to ride in the hot part of the day if the sun isn’t right on my head. It’s part of the reason I always pick light colored helmets when I will be riding outside of the cool and cloudy home base.
. . . . . . but it's a dry heat . . . . . having lived in Palm Desert 89-95 - some of your earlier rides plus this one - nice being able to 'slowly' go through familiar areas once again. But never went into the 'wash' - not even sure back then you could (or would have wanted to)?
Another great video Sylvia. Exciting terrain, I was able to sync google maps to the route to get an expanded view of the area. Here in southern Minnesota we are experiences temps in the 90s, which is quite a jump from just a few days when highs were in the high 40s and is well above 70s we usually experience in early May. The LA basin area always fascinates me. I've visited quite a few times. An endless amount of suburbia that just goes on and on in all directions. Can you provide some info on the visor attached to your helmet? I have a red da' brim that I wear to keep the sun off, but in windy weather it has a tendency to fly off my helmet. Yours looks like a extension of your helmet. Thanks for the ride and video.
Beautiful ride and video and a nice change of pace. Looks like you and Dave had a super time! When do,you start driving east? The weather has finally broken here. Had a cold and windy April and first week of May and it’s gorgeous now. Just an awful lot of pollen!
@@TravelsByTrike the weather has finally broken. I have been back from Florida for 5 weeks and it has been chilly and windy and rainy but springtime broke out this week. The pollen onslaught is hitting now for a few weeks but the weather perfect.
What is source of your helmet visor? Never mind, just saw your helmet video. Your video reminds me of visits to my brother who lived in a series of those golf course residential areas. Never could take my bike but did a lot of driving around and did get out to some of the slot canyons to the east of Indio and down to the Salton sea and of course Joshua Tree NP. Heat perception is different when humidity is 20%.
I get asked about the helmet visor a lot. I suspect the outline is available online somewhere. Years ago, I made one from an outline and the plastic piece that is on the bottom of a cloth grocery store bag. Palm Springs area is great for cycling but the development idea is quite absurd considering the lack of water and brutal summer temps.
@@TravelsByTrike Area gets water from deep wells, not part of LA basin water from Owens Valley and reservoir surface water (and desalination plants in some coastal areas).
That decorated truck is a Philippines jeepne that they use as a bus in the Philippines.
So awesome!

Yeah that was a fun ride for sure, a lots of variety just the way I like them, what a nice way to spend your down time Thanks for sharing your ride.🎯
Thank you, Paul!
Fun video! That art show reminded me of our bike rides around Aho, Arizona.
Thanks, Irvie! Do you ever ride with the Tucson group?

Isn’t that something? I wonder how it came to Palm Springs? Crazy what you can see in the desert. Thanks!
I enjoyed everything about this video, the scenery, the commentary, even the music! I would love to visit that area some day.
Yes, thanks, you would love riding here.
Nice ride,Fun ta watch! I really like your radar,no one sneaking up on ya! How cool!🙂
That’s right-no one is sneaking up on me. I see all!
Sylvia,
Looks like I've got some catching up to do. Too much getting ready to go and not enough going.
Be well and stay safe,
bf
You’ve got a lot going on. Trike season is upon us.
Great drone shots. A good adventure ride for sure. Thanks
We always have fun out riding. I love that we never have a clear route and end up exploring. Take care, see you at TOT!
Obstacle avoidance is an amazing thing in drones

👍
The vehicle with the horses is no doubt a Philippine jeepney : ua-cam.com/users/results?search_query=philippine+jeepney
Thanks! Funny that it’s in Palm Springs, eh?
100 golf courses? They wonder why there’s a water shortage
Yes, the golf courses use recycled water but, still, the whole idea of Palm Springs is kinda absurd.
