The Pokémon Spinda has 4,294,967,296 potential patterns. Because in Pokémon every creature has a hidden value called it’s “encryption constant”. Spindas spots will vary depending on that value. So over 4 billion patterns. The Pokédex references this too. In Heart Gold and Soul Silver, we’re told that the chances of two Spinda having the exact same patterns is LESS than 1 in 4 billion.

Wouldn't work regardless (outside of Go? Idk if its even available in Go yet though) Vivillon depends on system location in the 3DS games not actual location
That's right, we're going to cheat
@@mefour83 you can get the different Vivian patterns in pokémon Go by saving postcards from the area you want to get the vivillon from. Say you want a Vivian with whatever pattern it has in Japan, you have to make a friend marked as living in Japan and then save postcards from them (I don't remember exactly how many you have to save) then your game will tell you that you can get that pattern of Vivian or that it's like unlocked or something. I have a friend that lives in a different part of the US where I guess the regional pattern is considered different, I saved enough of their postcards and I can't remember exactly what the game said but it did make me aware I had collected enough to get that areas of Vivian.

Here’s why spinda has that many forms: “Each spinda’s spot pattern is different.” - random Pokémon card I have
edit: what on earth you guys this comment does not deserve 13k likes...
Imagine catching all spinda forms but only shiny are allowed
It's over 4 billion due to a secret hidden value in the Pokemon's code. That code has just over 4B possible layouts, hence the large number of Spinda patters.
Those technically arent forms. They arent in the dex. They dont count.
@StrawZulu Sans Undertale Horror_Underfell Well, Arceus and Silvally have recognized alternate forms that don't appear in the dex. For that matter, Vivillon didn't get seperate form entries until SV.
And Spinda's do appear in ter Dex, in a way. In some of the games, the Spinda pattern you first encounter is recorded as the image for Spinda in the Pokedex.
They're not distinctive forms with their own abilities, but then again neither is Vivillon's.
@@shiftfire4511 Arceus and Silvally's different type forms do, in fact, show as different forms, maybe not in newer games, but they did in US/UM

Shiny: “why hello there”
*"The 8-billion Spindas said simultaneously"*
@@armani3298 it doesn't work like that :) you don't have one shiny Spinda per each possible non shiny one. The total number of possible Spindas, including shinies and non shinies, is 4.294.967.295. I gave the long explanation in another thread in this video, it has to do with a hidden value called personality value (basically the pattern of the spots relates to this value, but a Pokémon being shiny or not also depends on this value)
@@Makenor13Try to get every single shiny spinda challenge!
@@Makenor13 ever since x and y, personal ID wasn't used for a lot of personal values on pokemon. This includes spinda's spots as now every singling spot pattern can be shiny. This does double the total
Why did I hear that in the voice of Darcy from Amphibia?
Vivllon was a really fun Pokémon to collect since you can trade other people from other states and countries that had their exclusive designs; not to mention special events. Man, I MISS GEN 6!!
Especially since now you can only get the "Fancy" form permenantly and the only way to get the alt forms is by transferring from Bank.
Actually, you can still do it in Gen 9, you just have to use GO. By giving gifts and collecting postcards from people around the world, you can make the corresponding butterfly spawn in Violet or Scarlett
I like the fact the question and exclamation mark unowns look like they're annoyed with everything.
Spinda’s spots are randomly generated, meaning there is little to no chance of finding two identical Spinda’s
It’s generated by its personality value, a 32 digit number that determines things like if it’s shiny and it’s nature. As well as… Spinda’s spots.
Only if youre super super luxky
@@MarinidEdits the odds for two shiny spinda with the exact same spots are so astronomically bad that it likely still doesn’t exist. Spinda’s spots are self generated, they just coded it that specific pixels will change based on the spots. No LEGITIMATE Shiny Spinda with the exact same spots exists, I should say. Pretty insane.
@@hyperstargaming6150actually personality values were only used for shinies in gen 2 and 3, gen 4-onwards there's 4 billion normal spinda and 4 billion shiny spinda

What a crazy man
Ditto: cool, but you forgot that i can be everything
If you think a bout it the pokemon with the 2nd most forms is also a 3-way tie between Ditto zoroa and zoroark since they can turn into any pokemon
Don't forget, Alcremie'd form is based on
Time of day
Item held
Length of spin
Direction of spin
Basically a combination of all 4 determine what Alcremie you get
They have 63 forms in total, and if you count shinies, its 126 :)
Did you know there are more different spinda than alcreamie
@@fizpopppI don't think you can count the Shinys as 63 different forms since all shinys look the same. So I would say it has 70 forms (10 forms (9 regular + 1 Shiny) × 7 Items) + 2 Gigantamax Forms (regular and Shiny) . That makes it 72 Forms
If you count every Shiny as a different form it is 9 forms × 7 items × 2 because Shiny +2 Gigantamax making it 128 forms.

I still find it kind of odd that Lycanroc has 3 forms. It seems like there should certainly be a Dawn form.
It seems like by symmetry, this Dawn form would be similar in stance to a Midnight lycanroc, with some stylistic differences and a different primary color.
ive heard that dusk in japan means both dusk and dawn, i could be wrong though
@@EpiclyEpicGamer A quick search reveals that's not the case, they have different words.
Would be a nice addition in a future return to alola.
I agree that there should be some 4th form for Lycanroc, but I actually kind of disagree with your interpretation of it. Let me explain.
So, I'm pretty sure that it's no surprise that Lycanroc's Midday and Dusk forms are based off of normal wolves, and its Midnight form is loosely based off of werewolves. By that logic, it wouldn't make sense to have a werewolf at dawn, like you're suggesting.
Instead, I would argue that they should make it more similar in design to the Dusk form, and, like you suggested, giving it a different coloration. I would also give it a bushier coat of fur, to incorporate elements from the Midnight form.
A Dawn form?wouldn't it just be a reverse dusk form???

Spinda: Oh you like catching them all? Catch these spots
For Vivillon, its form isn’t determined by in-game region. For the 3DS games, it used the real-world region set on your system to determine what pattern it would have. For example, the standard pink pattern is what it has when caught in France, its wings are purple when caught in Japan, and where I’m from (East US) it’s red.

But what about shiny forms? Or it's gender? Or in pokemon go if it is large or small? Or ditto who can transform into ANY pokemon, giving it all those forms compared with all the other factors...
According to pokemon home, the Pokedex, basic logic, and game freak, every spinda doesn't count as different forms. That's like saying torchic's gender difference is a form.
The reason spinda has so many forms was because it was based on the old individual ID tag, a value that holds all the information for how a Pokémon was generated
So every time a spinda was generated if it was even slightly different from another spinda, bam, new form
technically arbok could prolly get a honorable mention
*Oriccorio left the chat*
Because silvally and arceus have the same amount of forms and can change type with either an element or disc does that mean silvally could be an experimental version of arceus like mew and mew two
Depends on your definition as Spindas different patterns are not real "forms" per se. They are not disclaimed in the Pokedex as such, compared with mostly all of the other mentioned ones.
"mostly all". Just all. All of the others mentioned are distinguished by the Pokédex.
Even if you had infinite box space. Catching every single form of spinda is impossible due to time and that as you get closer to finishing it, in theory, you would also start finding dupes
