- Today we take a look at Meggitt Ashby Rd, Shepshed, Loughborough LE12 9EQ. I remember it being called Dunlop years ago so I go for a closer look.
Upon arrival security inform me that its illegal to film.
Then Steve the 2nd man arrives and shows a little more intelligence and seems genuinely interested.
Then a 3rd Man arrives to take charge. This 3rd man eventually says carry on and do you filming.
Then a 4th Man, (Will the Boss) speaks on loudspeaker on 3rd Mans phone and starts asking me to move further back.
Eventually, 4th Man asks if I'm AB and it all clicks.
Then we leave and take the drone over for a final tour.

Q - What drone do you use?
A - DJI Mavic Mini 2
This used to be Dunlop Aerospace and then changed to Dunlop Bestobell, making rubber aircraft parts and helicopter blades. Meggitt bought it out and now they do police and military body armour.

What is Meggitt?
It was difficult to see but the ID cards around his neck appeared to be for other people. When he covered the cards after being advised by the uniformed (uninformed) guard to do so, didn't he then breach security regulations which state that the identity card should always be visible.

Happens a lot here in the USA too..Wave a camera around from a public area..some workerbee from the company materializes and turns into a lawyer, a secret agent, a medical expert, or a surveyor. Sometimes it's a bonanza and you get everything....

not seen a uk auditor have thier push bike stolen , run over by a car , shot at or had a pavement excorsim performed on them . finding the USA church audits a facinating insight , going to be very interesting when the auditors over here start auditing religious institutes then the shit is really going to hit the fan .
The sad thing is that despite they're self professed lawyer/secret agent/medical expert/whatever status these goons are, as a rule, the very epitome of a company sending out one of their least valuable (ie useful or intelligent) employees to potentially take the hit in the one in one million chance you're a threat to the company.

The last guy did well even though he did not understand the concept.
The first guy ( the one with the accent) was the worst displaying complete ignorance of his lack of rights when visible from a public place (and if the other guys were not there to control him, he could have got the company into a lawsuit .)
Mr (I’m hiding my badge ) was just rather unprofessional at times, but also displayed fair level of ignorance , not even giving his role.

Companies like this, who should be even more aware of due diligence, security, laws pertaining to public areas, GDPR etc Considering one area Meggitt cover is security and cameras,
Fail quite miserably in these kinds of situations, mainly because of lack of knowledge from the company and very poor training.
It is an aerospace company. Nothing to do with tyres.

Yes, its under 250g so you can fly anywhere the App will allow you. It knows where airfields are etc. It wouldn't hurt anyone if it fell out of the sky. (apart from my bank balance) 🤣

The Dunlop tyres factory is in Birmingham, (not far from the jaguar factory) but I don't think they make car/bike tyres there anymore, but I think they still make the huge aircraft tyres 😉

I use to work for Meggitt Electronics in Swindon, and this particular plant you visited is Meggitt PLC a British International Company, manufacturing components and sub systems for aerospace, defence and energy markets.
There are also parent companies in the United States.

The security guard was out of control ridiculous to walk up to a camera and demand not to be recorded then you explain gdpr and who it relates to then the other guy films you wtf lucky the 3rd guy had common sense and could control his emotions and act like a normal person. Love these audits my company would fail horribly as we have no union and over 50,000 staff so you can imagine egos are out of control
I felt sorry for the big guy. He handled it quite well I thought but he wanted so much at the end of video for you to give him a good rep
Great job DJ, but I think your evaluation at the end was a little off.
The guy holding the phone at the end wasn’t that great, he was trying to bark orders, the security guard was a numpty but the guy in the middle may not have left you alone but he was the only one really listening and conversing in a truly polite manner.
I think you may have been a little harsh on him.
It’s funny that the guy on the phone understood what you where doing but all the ones in front of you where utterly baffled.

I think you are mistaken with that guy on the phone. The way he kept saying how he wasn't being violent says to me that he is thinking about violence ALL the time. I was a bit concerned for DJ Audits as that could have escalated at any moment. I have him down as an out of shape psycho with back problems and heartburn. Angry because his bladder stops him sleeping and his dick hasn't seen anything in 30 years. If I was him, I might also be an angry psycho lol

They didn't half make a lot of fuss over nothing. So there's a guy with a camera and drone outside their polymers / composites factory? So what? So his face is being photographed? So what?
All they have to do is to stop for 1 second and think about what you're telling them. It's blindingly obvious that you should have the legal right to film anything you can see. And that whilst you are on publicly accessible land, they have no rights whatsoever to interfere with your perfectly legal activity.
