Heya Kramer! Archery Tech for CW Arrow here! Love this video, and iconic bow! Feel free to hit me up with questions about film archery. I can answer some questions you asked: - building props bows, you’d be building at least 6 and they all have to look exactly the same. They should be around #10 both for the actor and the safety aspect. So you wouldn’t be making 1, you’d be making and maintaining 6 +. Arrows usually are indeed CG, hopefully the CG company has at least a basic idea of arrow physics. Again, excellent video
Tip: You can make your own accelerator with baking soda. Mix baking soda with water and put it in a spray bottle. Should give you the same effect, with almost zero cost.
Gavin Traditional Archery makes the original first bow you see under the fantasy bows section of companies website. The bow I want to see is the Bow from Brave a static tip semi recurve bow that had more an English longbow limb style over an Asiatic static tip recurve/semi recurve where is made more like a modern recurve or flat limb longbow
Just a curiosity, how many hours do you put into one of these whimsical projects ? What are the specifications on the bow ? Arrow speed ? Impressions from your wife ?
Just being a nerd but it could have been a tainted hickory or simply a more eastern hickory as I believe she came from much farther east than Colorado. Likely closer to Pennsylvania. The movie bow was likely plastic and about 5lbs. I would like to think the games one was Polished Steel and would love to make one, but it would be heavy. In my experience with right twist on fletching it can help on shorter shots. I haven't tried left yet. Great vid! Thanks!
When tillering, have you experimented with a poster-board backdrop with different curves drawn on it? I suspect the semi-circle arc you use (even till across the length) may not be the most smooth firing or efficient design. If you use a Ellipses with two radiuses and make the bow bend more at the tips, or more near the hand, it should change the characteristics of the bow. I would use an Ellipses instead of a Parabola, Catenary, or other complex curve because you can adjust the size of the inner radius and outer radius to adjust where the bow bends the most. In simple terms, when you have non-flexing stiff tips, that is effectively an Ellipses where the outer diameter is larger than the inner diameter, you would get that by reversing the ellipse so the smaller radius is next to the handle, and the larger radius is near the tips. There is an easy way to draw ellipses with a string and two nails. I would start by drawing the shape of a normal limb flex on a piece of paper, and then adjust it to experiment. I have a theory that more flex at the tips than the belly is a smoother-firing bow, and more flex at the belly than the tips is a faster firing bow. (Assuming equivalent draw weight.) I am pretty confident in that theory. Edit: Ellipses are just stretched circles. I don't know if that helps at all when trying to print them out.
Hmm i dont think this would be of any practical use but Could you tiller a bow by ,in Addition to the bending ,use vibration time and frequency of the limbs somehow
The Movies that got me into archery were Robinhood 1970's Disney Cartoon but more seeing at age 8, 1991 Robbin Hood men in Tights where I wanted to use a small add on shelf style English longbow or flat limb longbow but I was fine using mainly recurves/semi recurves a friend and his dad had knowing from them the other styles were not as easy to find, but not why.
There's also different electrolytes added. Reminds me of the weird concoction they made us drink in boot camp. Then again, that was back in '95. Tasted like unsweetened salty kool-aid.

Kramer! I have some straight grain Yew wood. If I give you enough will you make 2 bows? One for you, one for me?
Just a curiosity, how many hours do you put into one of these whimsical projects ?

Arrow speed ?

Hola compañero, qué tipo de madera utilizas para hacer los arcos?? Gracias por tus vídeos.
Un saludo

The training bow I believe that was a bear golden fox fiberglass bow that was painted silver
Great stuff! 👍🏻 😊

I heard a rumor they had real arrows in some scenes of the first movie, and had to find them in the woods after takes
Love the vids
Hhhooooooo boy! That's a pricey Festool. Then again, they're all pricey.
LMNT is also recommended by a well known Doctor in Sports Physiology.
Isn't "zero sugar hydration" called "water"?
There's also different electrolytes added. Reminds me of the weird concoction they made us drink in boot camp. Then again, that was back in '95.
Tasted like unsweetened salty kool-aid.
@@Qui-Dad-Jinn Electrolytes! That's what plants crave!
Isn't that pretty much Pedialyte?? And aspartame stuff give me a migraine I'm type 2 diabetic so it's water and zero sugar everything lol
They also add the string and arrow in post ;-D Often the string is elastic as well
👍👍
Do the bow from Predator
Is that one even possible 😮
In the outro I thought you painted your nails and put on a wig at first lol
Ahh yes Cantmiss Everagain my favorite character with plot armor so thick not even nuclear bomb can destroy it !
You haven't read many books if you think Katniss has some big plot armor.
What bet did you lose? Bet somebody is eting this up haha good job
I was going to give you crap for dressing Kaz up as a girl but then you showed your wife. Little brothers still have some dignity you know! 😁
why cant i buy a bow from you ?
Shatterproof Archery is his company. Looks like you can for less than $200.
