@@alvaro-oh9cp Georgia’s history is marked by periods of independence and foreign rule, largely due to its strategic location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. Here’s a summary: 1. Ancient and Early Medieval Independence (c. 4th century BCE - 7th century CE) Kingdom of Iberia and Colchis: The regions now known as eastern and western Georgia existed as independent states as early as the 4th century BCE. Kingdoms like Iberia (eastern Georgia) and Colchis (western Georgia) formed and maintained varying degrees of autonomy. Christianity: Iberia adopted Christianity in the 4th century, making it one of the earliest nations to do so. This fostered a unique identity despite periodic foreign threats. 1.1Arab Invasion and Rule (7th - 9th century) First Invasions: The Arab armies began advancing into the South Caucasus in the mid-7th century as part of the Rashidun and later Umayyad Caliphates’ campaigns. By 645, Tbilisi, Georgia's current capital, fell under Arab control. The Caliphate sought to control the region due to its strategic importance as a buffer against Byzantine influence. Emirate of Tbilisi: The Arabs established the Emirate of Tbilisi in the early 8th century, which became a key center of Arab rule in Georgia. Though nominally part of the Caliphate, the Emirate functioned semi-autonomously, paying tribute to the Caliphs while maintaining control over Tbilisi and surrounding areas. Resistance and Decline of Arab Influence (9th - 11th century) Various Georgian kings and nobles continuously resisted Arab rule. Leaders like Ashot I of the Bagrationi dynasty began consolidating power in western Georgia, and by the 9th century, they had created a strong Georgian principality in Kartli (central Georgia). Rise of the Bagratid Dynasty: Ashot I’s successors gradually weakened Arab control, gaining autonomy and eventually reducing the Emirate of Tbilisi's influence. By the early 11th century, King Bagrat III unified most of Georgia, marking the decline of Arab rule. The Kingdom of Georgia was unified as early as the 11th century under King Bagrat III, and later flourished during the Golden Age of Queen Tamar in the 12th-13th centuries. During this time, Georgia was a powerful and culturally advanced Christian state. 2. Golden Age of the Kingdom of Georgia (11th - 13th century) Kingdom of Georgia: From the late 11th century to the early 13th century, Georgia experienced a period of unity and independence under rulers like King David IV and Queen Tamar. This period, known as the Golden Age, was marked by expansion, cultural flourishing, and military success. 3. Mongol and Subsequent Foreign Rule (13th - 18th century) Mongol Invasion: The Mongols invaded Georgia in the 13th century, and Georgia became a vassal state of the Mongol Empire for much of the period. Timur’s Invasions: In the 14th century, Georgia faced repeated invasions by Timur (Tamerlane), severely weakening the kingdom. Ottoman and Persian Empires: By the 16th century, Georgia was divided into small kingdoms and principalities, with the Ottomans controlling the west and the Safavid Persians the east. These empires exerted influence over Georgia for much of the 16th to 18th centuries. 4. Russian Empire (1801 - 1917) Annexation by Russia: In the early 19th century, Georgia’s weakened kingdoms (Kartli-Kakheti in the east and Imereti in the west) were annexed by the Russian Empire, ending Georgia’s independence. 5. Brief Independence (1918 - 1921) First Democratic Republic of Georgia: After the Russian Revolution, Georgia declared independence on May 26, 1918, forming the Democratic Republic of Georgia. However, this period was short-lived. 6. Soviet Period (1921 - 1991) Soviet Invasion and Annexation: In 1921, the Red Army invaded Georgia, and it became part of the Soviet Union. It remained a Soviet republic until the dissolution of the USSR. 7. Modern Independence (1991 - present) Restoration of Independence: Georgia declared independence from the Soviet Union on April 9, 1991 (announced in April 9, declared in May 26). Since then, it has been an independent nation, though it faced conflicts such as the 2008 war with Russia over the regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

Russians did settle in some parts of Georgia in the XIX and XX centuries but the mixing between them and Georgians was in very insignificant numbers and most of the Russians left after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Does Topuria or his parents look Slavic and Russian to you?
I don't know if you're Spanish or Latino but your knowledge about Georgia is very superficial and you shouldn't get into details unless you've read the history first.
@@tono1077 Just try to summarize it for the simples... I love you know the history of your country,im not specialized in it, but if they did DNA tests on you, the current majority would descend from the Slavic Russians, the last ones who conquered you, rather Georgia joined voluntarily. to the Russian Empire, when the Persians were massacring you, just as in Spain we have Arab DNA... and I doubt that they would remain more 40,000 GEorgians when it joined the Russian Empire... In any case, thanks to the Russian Empire, Georgia grew and became stronger and then met the conditions of a country and became independent... so basically you gave me the reason that it was always a reign of different empires, not a state or a country

Georgia was not an independent state until 1917, its first independence*, before that it was an Iberian kingdom that belonged to and was ruled by different groups, from Greeks, to Persians and Ottomans... until it joined the Russian Empire of its own free will. And I think there were only about 40,000 Georgians when, so a large part of the current population has more Russian than Iberian roots or anything else.
In Spain there were also different kingdoms within the same country, such as Aragon and Castile, a State is something else.

Georgia’s history is marked by periods of independence and foreign rule, largely due to its strategic location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. Here’s a summary:
1. Ancient and Early Medieval Independence (c. 4th century BCE - 7th century CE)
Kingdom of Iberia and Colchis: The regions now known as eastern and western Georgia existed as independent states as early as the 4th century BCE.
1.1Arab Invasion and Rule (7th - 9th century)
First Invasions: The Arab armies began advancing into the South Caucasus in the mid-7th century as part of the Rashidun and later Umayyad Caliphates’ campaigns.
Resistance and Decline of Arab Influence (9th - 11th century)
Various Georgian kings and nobles continuously resisted Arab rule.
2. Golden Age of the Kingdom of Georgia (11th - 13th century)
Kingdom of Georgia: From the late 11th century to the early 13th century, Georgia experienced a period of unity and independence under rulers like King David IV and Queen Tamar. This period, known as the Golden Age, was marked by expansion, cultural flourishing, and military success.
3. Mongol and Subsequent Foreign Rule (13th - 18th century)
Mongol Invasion: The Mongols invaded Georgia in the 13th century, and Georgia became a vassal state of the Mongol Empire for much of the period.
4. Russian Empire (1801 - 1917)
Annexation by Russia: In the early 19th century, Georgia’s weakened kingdoms (Kartli-Kakheti in the east and Imereti in the west) were annexed by the Russian Empire, ending Georgia’s independence.
5. Brief Independence (1918 - 1921)
First Democratic Republic of Georgia: After the Russian Revolution, Georgia declared independence on May 26, 1918, forming the Democratic Republic of Georgia. However, this period was short-lived.
6. Soviet Period (1921 - 1991)
Soviet Invasion and Annexation: In 1921, the Red Army invaded Georgia, and it became part of the Soviet Union. It remained a Soviet republic until the dissolution of the USSR.
7. Modern Independence (1991 - present)
Restoration of Independence: Georgia declared independence from the Soviet Union on April 9, 1991 (announced in April 9, declared in May 26). Since then, it has been an independent nation, though it faced conflicts such as the 2008 war with Russia over the regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

American knowledge of geography again right here folks
At the very end Rogan says "he has no idea who that guy is". That "guy" that Topuria kissed after the fight was the former king of Spain-I think Ilia knew who he was. Rogan is such a dunce.
Why would anyone outside of Spain know a former king of Spain just by look alone? Spain isn't a big player in the politics of America. It's honestly weird that you would think that anyone SHOULD know that. I mean honestly who would expect a former king to be front row at a middling UFC event
