To your point Rob… I believe Garrett is like the Courtney Thompson for the men’s team. Had no real role for Rio but was still selected because of their cool, calm, and collected demeanor on court. I do believe USA should invest more in the growth of the younger players and give them more opportunities to play in the upcoming quad.
I heard Aaron Russell and Thomas Jeascke are still not playing with the team and currently injured. It's less than a month. I hope they can play in time. Without those 2, USA is in trouble as Defalco will be the only weapon in the OH.
I disagreed that Serbia stumbled into it. They showed they had stronger mental fortitude in the most crucial match and showed their consistency and desire in the last two weeks of VNL. There were no expectations of Serbia being a top contender last season, and it continued this season. Same as Cuba.
I get what was said about TeamUSA by Rob and I agree. But I'd probably go with Everett's D. Reason being, is kind of along the lines of what Rob said about playing Ewertt, Ensing, etc... For example, the Ensing/Ma'a double sub for 1 rotation. They did that in multiple matches. I mean wtf is the point. Are they saying that Ensing is a better blocker than Micah, and that Ma'a is a better server than Anderson? Not for a full backrow rotation, and as thus give Micah and Matt at least a somewhat meaningful rest. But no, 1 single rotation. You'd be better off with Hanes, who was suited up if you're going for blocking. And yet Hanes didn't even play at all. Might as well have brought in Gabi if for nothing else than a serving sub, esp if you want to rest Christensen. So yeah, full D, not the D+ for those reasons.
Honestly, Team USA needs to modify their roster. Fuck loyalty at this point if the goal is to win the Olympics. They need to relegate Jendryk to the substitute position. They don’t need four middles especially if Smith is healthy. They need Ensing as a backup for some rotations just in case if they need it. And Ewert needs to be seriously considered as a 4th OH pick if Jaeschke or Russell is too injured to play.
Slovenia was top 4 in VNL back in 2021. They topped themselves here, but still 4th in the finals
Everett look depressed. That probably because Japan finished Canada by 3-0 lol
I give this video an A+ ... love the spice
I guess that we'll be able to assess the teams much better after the Olimpics. Now many good teams are fixing for that event and just go through selestions. For instance Poland never played the same set of players and still France beat them by a pure luck.
Get rid of Muagatutia, get Hanes as opposite back up
to be fair, USA beat Grozer and Germany in the PH in 4 tight sets. 😂
Does anyone know the rumors about Bennie Tuinstra?
What are these rumors about Bennie Tuinistra? Is this Piazza-related, Nimir-related? Federation-related?
I thought achieving expectations was a C? Why an A for Serbia?
Such a futile exercise of grading the teams. Hah
