    I'm legitimately impressed by the depth and intricacy of this analysis. Fucking outstanding work, bro(s).
    People love to talk shit about Derrick Rose because his injuries. They say he's too "weak". I always thought it was the exact opposite. He was too powerful for his body's limits. Dude generated insane force in all directions. On all of his joints and muscle groups. Upper and lower body. All of the time. Honestly, I think that's what hurt him most. Dude put forth 150% of his physical potential 100% of the time.
    No fanboy, but he'll always be one of my favorite players, regardless of how his career turns out (which I hope will be very, very well).

      Beautiful comment.. Felt this way in 2010 when he kept pushing himself to the max.. Too much explosion using hard plants. Now that he is recovering from his injury.. He is learning how to switch speeds. Bo Jackson comes to mind with Rose. Bo destroyed his hip because he was too powerful to just "Go Down" with the tackle instead of fighting for extra yards.

      +EveryDayIsAGoodDay atleast he showed us what he's capable of and you don't wanna talk shit to Rose cause he still becomes vintige atleast he sacrificed everything for Chicago I've never seen a player so athletic in my entire life he's still my favorite player and can't wait till he takes his legacy to ny bulls are gonna regret trading him Rose said "I'ma go all in" #mvprose 🔥🔥💯💯🌹🌹

      Too athletic for a human body. Maybe he needed to take care of his body way more than a normal person which he didn't do

    Who Thinks Derrick Rose In His MVP Season Was More Athletic And Faster Than Russell Westbrook In 2016?

    • @KB-vd8wq
      @KB-vd8wq 8 років тому +90

      He had better handles and better moves and a better first step. I would say he was quicker (changing directions fast) but not faster (running in a straight line fast) I think Russ is clearly slightly stronger and can jump a little bit higher. But both of these dudes are just freak athletes. But as a basketball player I would say rose was a little bit better mostly just because I think he played a little bit smarter than Westbrook.

    • @leroyroberts9874
      @leroyroberts9874 8 років тому +52

      Westbrook is faster (Top speed not quicker) and can jump higher but, D rose is way to damn quick. Strength is westbrook but, acrobatic skills goes to D rose.

    • @SDSOverfiend
      @SDSOverfiend 8 років тому +24

      +Leroy Roberts Same Speed.. But Rose acceleration is faster. Rose is shorter to the ground.. So naturally he would be quicker off the first step. Westbrook just has smoother mechanics and a bit more graceful.

    • @leroyroberts9874
      @leroyroberts9874 8 років тому +4

      +SDS Overfiend I can give rose acceleration but top end speed I would give to westbrook, at least that's what my eyes tell me

    • @SDSOverfiend
      @SDSOverfiend 8 років тому +2

      Leroy Roberts Hmmm.. Bigger strides... More spaces covered.. That's what I would make of it. It's weird though..

    I'm sorry but he is the most Athletic point guard in History. Give him the edge over Westbrook because of his side to side quickness and athleticism. Westbrook is all North south which is great 80-90% of the time but sometimes you have to move sideways to get around people.

    His style of play is what in my opinion took a toll on his knees. You have to pace yourself something Rose rarely does. The moment he gets the ball in his hands it's full throttle and your body will only take so much of that before it begins to fail.

  • @swishman7175
    @swishman7175 8 років тому +9

    Really good videos! I don't know if you're a MJ fan, but it would be great to see an anylisis about him scoring. Same style as you did with Anthony. But Jordan had different styles during his career. I think that it could be divide in early career (1984-90), where he was all explosivennes, then the first three peat (91-93), maybe his "prime", combining more positional game with his physical tools, hops and strenght, and then 96-98, when he played with so much more pause and control, studying much more his posibilities againts the defenders. Maybe is also interesting his Wizards season, without any physical advantage over rivals.
    Sorry for the long comment and thank you for this vids!

  • @StillSalty-r5p
    @StillSalty-r5p 6 років тому +7

    As advertised... genuinely good analysis. Which is rare on UA-cam. GJ.
    Rose was generational athletic. But along with Grant Hill generational unlucky. Anyone who can watch JUST that first dunk and not get the insanity that was D Rose is blind. Rose is barely 6'3" and he is the only player since Michael who has the same speed/strength gifts MJ had. The way he explodes, jumps, hangs, and dunks. Jordan and Rose both had an utterly absurd total speed package. Hands feet everything. That is rare. Most highly athletic players, even Russ, have a package. And that package includes good to great top speed, a fast first step, an explosive vert, etc. But they don't have all of them at top tier levels. Russ is only generational top notch in is his stamina and he has pretty special power speed combo which is rare. Rose is Russ with upgrades in EVERYTHING except maybe his motor. Rose had ALL of it at the highest possible levels. And he was a LOT stronger, and a step faster. On top of all that he was acrobatic and had perfect body control.
    What bothers me about Rose is how illogically the media treats him. It's not just him but anyone who is unlucky and gets a sting of injuries they act like it's somehow something they did wrong. Injuries happen. Only way you can control for them a little is with good diet, stretching, etc. But that doesn't help you if you land on someones foot after you jump 55 inches in the air. The more explosive ppl are the more likely they are to get banged up in the post. Bo Jackson is a great example. He was so damn fast he literally tore his hip out of joint with his own power - when he wasn't running up a walls like spider man ofc. Even Steph when he gets injured the narrative is always the same. Ppl talk as if its a deficiency in the player. Steph literally slipped on water and got hurt last year and ppl still said stupid stuff like, Steph is injury prone. Luck is Luck. Accept it and move on. Half of these players like Chris Paul, they get their psychology literally ruined by dipshits in the media who constantly parrot each other and make the players feel like its somehow their fault something unlucky happened. If they would just shut the ** up, or heaven forbid the media be SUPPORTIVE of people, these players would recover better and the NBA woudl be better for it. Getting asked over and over and over and over about your injury is the exact opposite of what people who have serious injuries need to move on. In fact, it's psychology 101 that obsessing over the same bad thing leads to bad stuff like PTSD and serious existential crisis. But Derrick has gotten it the worst of all. He was made into a pariah and a scapegoat. And used by the media for their sensationalist, negativity based ratings cash grabs. It's like what Tibs said when they picked him up this year, "he just averaged 17 a year ago on the knicks"...... Then he looked at all the reporters like - 'what more can be said. Facts retards, facts." It's tragic bc after 4 years of fighting to get over the injuries, by the time he did everyone wrote him off so much they completely missed the fact that he still had plenty of his old self left. And if he had been given more minutes, better teams, better coaches he would have proven it sooner... JUST LIKE HE DID THIS YEAR in Minnesota in playoffs where most of the games he was the leading scorer on a team with multiple all stars. But he got put on garbage teams, and ignored for years. ANd so he lost 7 years of his career to bad luck and bad people. But watching his highlights its inspiring. But not as inspiring as the emotional strength he has demonstrated all this time dealing with the idiots like Collin Cowheard.

    When I started paying attention to D Rose years ago long before the injuries to the knees I always said he is an amazing athlete BUT relies WAY TO MUCH on his lower body. Some players rely more on upper body like Melo or KD some more on both like LeBron or harden but Rose does or did almost rely totally on his lower body "legs" and I think that was his downfall. It allowed him to have that insane speed but took its toll. Even his shot is an exact product of using or relying solely on his legs. He has to jump to the point of reaching almost the highest point of his jumper before releasing the shot. Same with his floater and layups. Still love the old none injured Rose.. Great vid.

    Once I saw rose's jumper and how hard of a hit it gives on his legs, I'm just wondering why the trainers/Coaches didn't take that to consider, But the NBA of 2010/11 is so different surprisingly to the one now. I'm pretty sure if anybody but Rose had this jumpsuit right now, the coach/trainer would force a change. Just too hard on your legs.

      I would have to say D Rose, but it's extremely close.

      Rose was and still is faster, a better passer, a better shooter, a better dribbler, and better at layups. You gotta remember too, Rose was always the main focal point of opposing defense and he also had to carry the offensive load. Westbrook has always had a better team. Westbrook is a beast tho. Rose has been understandably timid where Westbrook is just as fierce as Rose used to be. Rose will shine in NY tho.

    Kyrie or Derrick rose which one is a better finisher around the rim? Both can finish with both hands and with either off leg with either hands. So who is a better finisher?
