As a back-end dev, this one bugged me, but optimization in software development isn't something you do at a point in time, and it's done. It's a long process, and it's highly contextual. Specially in a video game, where you're already juggling a lot behind the scenes, and specially RTS. Even if they had no new features to implement, it still wouldn't be a continuous, straight line forward because sometimes you have to roll it back, and refactor to accomodate for other changes. Sometimes outside of your control, like changes to dependencies, servers or requirement specifications.
New Amara model vs Old Amara model is like journey from 1/10 to 9/10. Also finally terrain is not anymore that blurry oil. I hope SG finally be success
Stormgate looks better and better! I remember that months and months ago, it was hard to distinguish some units from others......now its better, plus the graphics and the shadowing looks so good. I'm glad they are working hard to improve the game.
Lots of good improvements. Huge relief that the terrain has been updated visually, that was one of the biggest issues from my experience. I still don't like the art style and never will. It looks like pixar starcraft, designed to be satisfactory for the largest audience, no soul. However, stormgate is the only rts I see that has potential for being a good, competitive 1v1 game. I think its getting lots of flak because there are no other games with the same potential.
The new Amara model is night and day. So, so much better. The previous one looked like she was out of that movie Small Soldiers, where the action figures come to life. This new model looks way better, so kudos to them. Though I wish the guy coulda outright said how terrible the previous one was instead of feeding us a line of how they designed it to look good from certain angles etc. lol. The person who did the previous one probably got fired or transferred to another department because it’s clearly not the same artist.
I'm pretty sure they are going to be broke before this game gets anywhere. They literally said they spent 12 months brainstorming with their dev team in an expensive location in cali. You really don't have to do that if you are playing it as incredibly safe as SG. And their 50 mil was till the EA release so now the game has to fund itself. I honestly don't even think they are this incompetent either, I think it's just a scam. Nevermind them changing kickstarter things retroactively as well as straight up copying maps from starcraft for their campaign without even hiding it. It's honestly sad how desperate the RTS community is and willing to delude themselves.
I think calling it a scam is a bit of a stretch. But everything else you said is spot on. Like how you have not learned how to design proper maps without blatant copies. Its been 20 years since broodwar and about half since starcraft 2. You'd think they'd want to really flex thier creative muscles and put out something unique. This game should have been a game that learned from the mistakes of the past and pushed the mechanics and units concepts forward. Instead we got some horrible monstrosity that resembles warcraft and starcraft put done to a very poor degree.
They change the Main Charackter, but the other Heroes looks like bevore... Thats not a Solution. They need to do all together! So much work to do a realy good game. One of the Biggest Flaws i see is the HUD ist absolutly Crazy Ugly, it seems to be not nearly finished. All of the Buttons look like a Web Designer has Standard Buttons uses to do it.

Ich habe da ein bisschen mehr Verständnis für die harte Arbeit die dahinter steckt und natürlich gibt es noch viel zu tun und es gibt auch noch einige Fragezeichen ob sie ein paar Dinge noch Mal grundsätzlich überdenken, wozu ich auch gerne mehr hören würde, aber ich denke zu diesen Dingen kommen sie erst aller frühstens Anfang nächsten Jahres. Es ist leider so, dass man das Spiel sich vermutlich erst wirklich in 2-3 Jahren geben kann.
Let´s hope for an ugly Sonic like redemption arc for the art - style. Personally I´ll skip the EA phase completley and hope Frost Giant can deliver a fun game in the end.

i hope they keep taking things from wc3 and sc2. This plagirism argument is blown out of propotion. If it is things that work they should keep adding them regardless if it exists in different RTS or not. As long as it makes sense in this game I don't see why not. If 90% of stormgates playerbase is wc3 and sc2 players wouldn't you guys want more of the same good shit with a new spice on top of it? Im not saying take 100% everything but a map here and a baseline unit design here isn't anything to cry about. At this point creating a fully unique never before seen unit is borderline impossible anyway, much less to fill an enitre game's roaster with said units. Chill the f out please. The artstyle needs more improving tho not just campaign stuff but buildings look lame and some units look like they came from Concord which is just disgusting
i'm not saying being inspired or paying homage is wrong. i say straight up copying is wrong, like the entire campaign story is basically WC3 or some unit designs. i dont know the name but one of the recent vanguard units looks exactly like an overwatch hero. and this keeps on happening, its not just 1-2 things
