I tried counting how many transmission (only) you have rebuild videos on. I got tired of counting at 90.. that is truly amazing..you can do so many different models. like nothing too...your a genius..
@@CurmudgeonTransmission doesn't matter they change constantly and get harder and harder..mr genius. first time I called someone that and actually meant it....lol
Thanks for the video, my 1993 Cougar uses an M5R2-RKE transmission, it should be quite similar to the one shown here, it doesn't like being shifted fast.
subscription are climbing.. the new name I think is helping.. hope you don't think I'm a spammer . comments help the channel as far as youtube recommending your videos.. I know there are so many people looking for a channel like this .. who dont know about it..
Got another one for you. I built my 4l60e in my 2001 Silverado. I put a 500 boost valve, Corvette servo, shift kit,Z pac, etc. When I got through and put it in the truck the damn thing will not shift. I followed the instructions in the shift kit to the t. I also put the extra wide band in it. I think that the problem is in the shift plate or valvebody. I installed a new transgo shift plate and drilled the holes to the shift kit specs however every time that I have used a transgo plate I have always had a no shift issue.
They send those plates saying that they fit 96-06 however I am sure that you know that when you get a kit most put 2 sets of valvebody gaskets in it and say up to 00 use the old style gaskets marked v and b. For 01 up use gaskets marked ca and vb. A guy from trans tech told me that some folks get the 2 companies confused and they get calls all the time about not shifting with one of those plates in them. However the trans star salesman sayes that he sells them all the time and never heard of it happening. I have had it happen everytime that I ever used one.
Also I watch precision transmission videos on UA-cam and on the 1-2 accumulator he puts 2 in there together with the find facing each other. I have never done that before but I did on this one. Have you ever done this or should I go back to one piston with a spring like some factory ones come with?
@@jasonallen8304 Yeah I have done it, when I get a unit that someone put the shift kit in. You can do either. I am not a fan of shift kits. I will put in kits that fix common problems but don't care for shift kits.
Got a question for ya, 4th gear slider is seized in place with trans stuck in 4th, i have the bearing/synchro kit along with new input shaft already. What other parts would need to be replaced?
If the slider is siezed it usually happens because it was run low on fluid. When that happens it usually takes out the input shaft, counter shaft, slider and hub. Sometimes the main shaft and fork as well.
You would probably know more about these than me so I'm asking a question. I pulled one of these out of a 95 f150.I plan on putting it in a 1986 town car behind a 5.0 ho with a very mild cam do you think it will hold up.
@@CurmudgeonTransmission I like building the old 5 speeds that came in the old Chevrolet HD 3500 trucks. Lol. I have built hundreds of those. By the way. I have a good one if you know anyone who needs one.

I want to thank you for your commitment to free education
Thanks for watching.
You're a god sent. Thank you! They wanted to charge me 1400. I'm 90% sure I got this. 👌 Thought you needed special tools. How simple.
It is one of the easiest standards out there. Good luck on your build.

Get rid of that plate first and put the original in. I don't like the Transgo plates.
@@CurmudgeonTransmission thank you! I was going to do that first anyway.

It is ok to re-use that reverse gear if you hammer on it with a punch like you did?
It is in a portion of the gear where nothing touches it.
Thanks, pretty impressed by how fast you got that out. I used a bearing puller with very long arms and got it to come out that way
@@CurmudgeonTransmission Any advice on how to get the input shaft bearing off?
a tool like this. BTSHUB 14pcs Bearing Separator Puller Kit, 2" and 3" Bearings Splitters Removal Puller Set 5 Ton Capacity

Should be OK. If you are in a warmer climate run 30W motor oil in it.
What kind of vehicle does that transmission go in?
Got to read the description.
Ford f 150
Looks like a Ford Ranger transmission I think?
Come in Ranger's , F-150's and in Mazda trucks also.
