    I have created many mouldings using bonding plaster for walls, in UK it is called bonding, and after setting it you can bake it in the oven for 4 hours at 150 degrees and they became solid as rock, I used them for replacing some missing decorative brackets or supports under a window sill, though they were for decorative purpose as the sills did not require physical support to the overhang.

    its plaster of paris you get it from any builders merchant who deals with the plastering industry but one note its not easy to work with cause it goes off very quickly

    For gods sake get a bucket and a splash brush! Why didn’t they run the reverse and just cast the cornice??

    Just out of interest, how come you guys don't simply create a relief mold, and lay up the plaster so that each cast comes out with the smooth front surface already made each time? Rather than needing to create the front surface?

      I thought that. But he I believe renovating some protected British Heritage buildings require any replacements to be made as the original installation. In this case maybe the original cornice was run in situ using slaked lime putty and plaster. Running it on the bench and using hessian canvas to strengthen it may have been an easier and acceptable alternative.

    Instead of playing loud music as opposed to background music with a person speaking, explaining what and how you are doing?

    Hello. I´m trying to do a plaster cornice. But all of it has little bubbles in the front side. What should I do to avoid that?

      @zombienation720 10 років тому +1

      Did you use a brush? that usually gets rid of air bubble and bounce the mould aswell

    • @CooCuMbEr
      @CooCuMbEr 9 років тому +2

      Camilo Loyola tap the mould with a hammer to ring the bubbles to the top..... this is a very lenghty process that can be shortened by about 80% on this vid
