    What does the catch can and the charge pipes do?

    • @jloilseparatorco.1853
      @jloilseparatorco.1853 2 роки тому +1

      The catch can interrupts the factory PCV line to keep harmful blow by from making its way into your intake track. Eventually the blow by can coat your intake valves, intercooler fins and even dilute your fuels octane levels.

      Big Question,does this installation Void any warranty on this new engine and Hybrid System?🤔😬 Is this a real necessity to put in Catch Can or are you that bored having something new. What are the benefits possibly of doing this installation???🤔

    • @jloilseparatorco.1853
      @jloilseparatorco.1853 2 роки тому

      @@ronsteitz4535 As far as the oil separator, If you read the fine print on any warranty contract you will find a lot of reasons your warranty can become void; installing aftermarket parts can be one of them. However, per the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act proof would have to be provided that the after-market part caused the failure. If you need further clarification, contact your vehicles service department. Some are easier to deal with than others.
      The benefits are preventing all the blow by and oil vapors from making it into your intake tract, coating intake valves, and even diluting fuel eventually. There's a more detailed explanation here if you're interested. ua-cam.com/video/nTpUjiCsPK8/v-deo.html

    How has the Oil catch can been working out for you ? I just had mine installed a week or so ago. Im already seeing it collect stuff. I find it to be a great cheap insurance policy if nothing else.

    • @EvanIggy
      @EvanIggy  Рік тому +1

      Definitely a good insurance measure to have. It’s been working great so far. I’ve got 22k miles now and I can check it every 5k miles and there’s only about 1/4” of fluid in it.
      The first 2k miles I did with it on it was full, and then I’ve been able to slowly go longer in between checking and I’ve been seeing less and less in it.

    So I’ve read that the 2022+ tundras don’t actually require a catch can as they are dual port… any truth to this? I’m curious to see an update.

    • @EvanIggy
      @EvanIggy  Рік тому +1

      I’m sure there’s some baffling in each valve cover that tries to prevent oil particles from reaching the intake. I checked it after 2k miles and it was all the way full. I was also just barely at 5k miles on the truck.
      Now I’m almost at 18k miles and I check it every 5k miles and it’s maybe like a 1/4 of the way full. So that shows that now the engine is broken in and it doesn’t have as much blow by now.

    • @who-v
      @who-v Рік тому

      @@EvanIggy that’s for the info. Sounds like it’s is recommended especially right at the start of the break in period. I’m waiting in delivery of my hybrid and was thinking about getting a can. How much cursing can I expect dealing with the hybrid?

    How much oil did it collect in between oil changes?

    • @EvanIggy
      @EvanIggy  Рік тому

      I checked it after 2k miles (they suggested 1k miles but forgot) and it was full. After that I checked again after 2k miles and it was about half full. Then I checked after 5k miles and it was only about a 1/4” full.
      Now I go every 5k miles (Rotate/ balance service interval) and there’s always alittle less than 1/4” of fluid in it.
      I also installed it at around 4k miles so the engine I’d say was still breaking in. I’m now at 22k miles and it’s goin strong

      I can’t say for sure. But I wouldnt think it would. It’ll probably just depend on how relaxed your dealer is with mods.

      @EvanIggy what is the point of that stuff in there? I will do that today if it's only just for sound but to me I think it's got be some kinda of a secondary filter or why els would toyota rivet it on there? They didn't want it getting removed how much or a sound improvement is it? Like 0-100?

    Recommend you do not use lubricants EVER on a charge air system. Between having it melt and get pumped through the intercooler/piping you're also risking blowing charge pipes off. We see this alot when guys install silicone couplers and new pipes.

    • @EvanIggy
      @EvanIggy  Рік тому +1

      Well there was literally no way those couplers were being installed without it. Even with some grease on them I struggled with each one for minutes trying to get them on. I’ve been a technician for over 11 years now, I’m aware of the risk of them sliding off.
      I’ve driven the truck for 8k miles now with these pipes on and they haven’t blown off.

      OG tip: Hairspray. Goes on slick and becomes sticky when it dries. Pipes are a bitch to get off if you have to take things back apart
