I rarely follow any watercolor channels because majority of them is just ego brushing, and folks bragging about their artwork.
This however is genuinely helpful and i feel like i am learning something.

Yeah and other watercolour channels are way too complicated.
And some of them are just promoting their patreons in their time lapse vids with a caption of "TuToRiAl" -___-
I’ve a few amazing channels, there is this guy Liron, very chill and tutorials/tips are amazing, there used to be more active channels when this comment was posted but it’s hard to survive UA-cam algorithm so in 2024 there ain’t many.

いつも素晴らしい動画ありがとうございます。先生の桜の木の動画を見ながら真似をしてますが、なかなかうまくいけません。この動画を見てやっと自分のできない原因わかりました。確か筆寝かせて描いたんですが、余計に力入れすぎてドライブラシの感じでませんでした。いい勉強になりました！
最後の「おまけ」が素晴らしい！フランスパンのような固いパンとか舗装されていない田舎道や山道にも使えますね。一本の筆をばらつかせて草の効果を表現したり、丸筆を平筆の様にして船のマストや木の小枝を表現出来たり、それも頭に入れて実践したりしていますが、ドライブラシは知識としては知っていましたが、柴崎流はこれがプロの「仕事」なのだととても感動しました。

今まで、ドライブラシには自身が無かったんです。思うような所で、思うようにかすれてくれなくて、コントロール出来なかったんです。絵具の付け過ぎかな？ と思っていました。角度だったんですね。練習しました。出来ました。これならコントロール出来そうです。嬉しい。先生のおかげです。ありがとうございました。

ドライブラシ、今まで聞いたことも、ありませんでした。筆は、勿論、ずっと、立てて描くものだと思ってました。先生の動画を知るまで、水彩画専用の紙が、ある事も、知りませんでした。毎日、毎回、先生の動画を見て、衝撃を受けています。どの動画を見ても、楽しく、ありがたいです。

Nice tip! I don’t like to waste paint either.
I watched and have been practicing dry brush technique. I thought the same thing you taught. The general dry brush technique leaves a lot of paint of a towel and runs out quickly when I take my brush to my paper. I do prefer Mr. Shibasaki's style. Thanks for another great lesson.
I showed these lessons to my mom. She doesn't know english or japanese, and she isn't even interested in art! But she was charmed by the artist's positive attitude.
I haven't painted in about 10 years or more and I will not be able to, for about another month.

Over the summer I had decided that I wanted to try using watercolor. One night I sat down to paint and I was so disheartened. I tried so hard but my failures got the better of me and I did not pick up my paints again for a few months. Seeing your videos, Shibasaki san, the way you teach brings me hope to try again. You make it much less scary. I am learning so much and look forward to painting soon. arigatou gozaimasu shibasaki san!
