You did a very good job explaining how this all works in a simple way that was easy to understand. Your video answered more questions then i found searching over the internet for the last hour. Thank you very much good work!
Wow it's works in my lighter😍 My brother accidentally dropped the lighter so it lost its structure. Thank you so much sir for your short video about fixing the lighter problem ☺️
My lighter fell down and scattered I didn’t have money to buy another one so I checked online how to assemble it again and found this video thanks I was able to get my lighter back
function of the plastic wire is not support the spark wire, it's separate the spark from other metal part until spark reach destination of the gas flow.Good Luck
Answers-- 1. Butane 2. I did not get exactly which lock you are talking about. Are you talking about the small adjustable regulator(lever), well it is used to regulate the intensity of flame coming out from the lighter. You could see the + and - on ether side of the plastic lever, the flame will increase if you will move the lever towards + sign and vice versa.
@@hanouf1738 I completely agree with you, @visa solomon please take care of your health and stop smoking. This video is to just understand the technology behind it.
So why is it some electric lighters like this require you to press the fire button several times before it catches? It’s sparking every time, just not producing fire
@@SebastianWoodard Yes it is just the electric spark which is generated from the piezo crystal when a sudden hit is occurring on the crystal, which generated 1000v to 2000v in result it creates electric spark
Bro Thank you very much for your comment however, Its my recommendation, please take care of your health, and try quieting smoking. This video is just to understand the technology behind it.
if you look inside a bbq long wand lighter you will see that the piezo has two wires coming out of it, one makes the spark the other is the return wire which goes to the metal bottom part of the piezo but in regular small lighters the piezo only has one wire and somehow it sparks on the flame nozzle but there does not seem to be a return or conductor so how does the spark happen? notice if you try to spark a piece of metal the spark is only generated if your other hand is touching the metal so can you explain how this spark seems to jump from tip of piezo wire onto brass flame nozzle in lighter without a return or ground or positive skin from hand?@@PiyushPrasoon
@@ARCSTREAMS You have asked an awesome question. So in all the lighter mechanism is/are same, however the lighter which you are seeing in the video is having only one wire which is kept closer to the nozzle spring. The electric arc or spark is getting generated between the nozzle spring's end the red wire's end, because any piece of mettle is having negatively charged electrons on it's surface which is enough to generate an electric arc or spark for some millisecond as piezo is generating nearly 3000V to 4000V, which is a very high potential difference and hence the spark is generated. off course if there would be a negative wire drawn out from the package then the spark would be more better and intense, which you are seeing the long neck gas-stove, candle lighter or a bbq long wand lighter. As an experiment you could try taking out the piezo mechanism system (which is packed in a black color plastic package). try to keep it closer to any mettle or you could use the lighter flame cover. 1. Keep it on the wooden table (just to make sure it is not having any other conductive contacts) 2. Now keep the tip of the red wire (coming out from the piezo mechanism system package) closer to the mettle and trigger it, you observe the spark is generated.
@@PiyushPrasoon no it does not spark, i tried many times to spark metal on wooden table and no matter how close i get the piezo wire near the metal there is no spark, only when i touch the metal the spark happens so again i am still puzzled how this works inside lighter, and metals have balanced charges so they will not accept electron flow unless they are part of the closed circuit (ie touching the negative end of the piezo) but thank you for the reply
@@ARCSTREAMS Hmm, BTW the day I replied, I tried it again to confirm it worked for me. let me create a video for the same. Now this is giving me a kick. Let's deep dive into it to figure out the things.🤘🤘
how much energy required to click the lighters so we calculated the number of electron in a spark as the piezoelectricity crystal are of fixed mass, hammer spring have fixed young's modules so how much energy required to draw out the spark of required voltage or electron so we know it better at nano particles level if we put a capacitors then will it be charge or not by spark if we use hydraulic pressure machine setup which can give pressure to piezoelectricity crystal so we bring out that spark if we harvest it, we have battery less gadgets
Because gas in pressurized from becomes liquid, as high pressure decrease the inter-molecular space and when it is getting released to the atmosphere where the pressure is very less, again it is getting converted to gaseous state.
there is very small amount of crystal that to embedder on the tip of a stone or some hard substance, it very difficult to extract that small amount of crystal from these lighter.
Its Butane, a highly flammable, colorless, easily liquefied gas used in gas-type lighters, cigarette lighters and butane torches. Since it is highly pressurized inside a lighter, you are seeing it in the liquid form, however if lighter is damaged the liquid suddenly changes into gaseous state and coming out at high pressure and hence its becoming cold. The reason the can/container gets cold after being used is due to a process known as adiabatic cooling, a property of thermodynamics. A gas, initially at high pressure, cools significantly when that pressure is released.
I have a lighter where the click is not occurring any more. I can see the rubber is till there. So something else in the mechanics of the clicking mechanism must have broken. I have taken it apart but still not been able to fix it. This one is 'Bull' brand bought in the UK. It came in pack of four, so at least there are three more. I can keep this one in case some other fault occurs on one of the other ones.
It generates very high voltage in a fraction of a second i.e nearly 800 - 1000 Volts, the lighter is wired in such a way that this whole voltage is applied in a small region of air gap between two metallic points to generate the electric arc or spark.
Maximum chance is that, it wont catch fire. It totally depends on the probability of hitting the ground from the lighter's spark igniter switch side and ignites the spark. In other case it will just explode.
