I'm from Virginia and first learned about Montana football while watching local team JMU upset the Grizzlies in the 2004 National Championship. A few years later, I watched my dad's alma mater, Richmond, also defeat Montana to win the title. I gained a lot of respect for the program in Missoula after those games. Great fan support, great stadium, great program. And that classic 2015 game where they upset #1 North Dakota State on ESPN while playing in wildfire smoke was awesome as well.
might've confused it with his brother Tim. who played for Montana and then the Packers ( I think it was the packers ) and went on to coach special teams for NFL. He won a super bowl as a coach with the Eagles in 2017. I think Marty Mornhinweg had a part in that too, but ...now that I look i up I might be wrong about that.
Got a few more FCS videos coming out on teams in december and a video on the history of the playoff system coming out on Thursday

I am a Georgia Southern fan to the extreme and Montana is deserving of all the praise being given to them in this video but there’s one thing that needs to be added: Montana has some of the most hardcore but some of the nicest fans I’ve ever been around. I would love to go experience a game at Washington-Grizzly Stadium one day.
my niece, Blixen Hofmann is the Griz twirler. i wanted to learn more about Montana football. This documentary was very helpful to me. Good job!!! and I just got the score on the game with Furman. Wow. O.T. Great win for the Grizzlies.
As a Griz alum, i think you did a great job. Appreciate you putting this together. Many big programs make fun of Wa Griz, as we call her but i have been on the field level, during some very instense games. Make no doubt, that stadium, from a noise level, can compete with many large FBS stadiums. Doubt me, come attend a game, we love all college football fans
Went to school at U of M in the 70s, when they played at Doernblazer Stadium, before the Griz became the powerhouse they are today. We used to call them 'The Fizzlies'! Didn't matter, games were always fun, win or lose. I come from 5 generations of Nebraskans, so I can be a loyal fan of both teams. 1995 was a great year for me, Huskers and Griz, both national champs! It's nice to see some Montana guys showing up on the field in Husker red of late. Here's wishing both of my teams good luck, and many more Natties in the near future!
They beat Nebraska a few years ago….. I know that’s not as big of deal as it was when Arizona st beat them back in the mid 90’s, but a school like Georgia Southern winning in Lincoln is always big time!!
With the capacity of 25000 Washington Griz is still one of the top 10 loudest stadiums in the country, had record 11 consecutive BigSky championships and was the winningest Div1 team in the 2000’s
MONTANA is gonna pull it out this year. come watch a game in washington grizzly stadium it will ruin you for life. nothing compares to 27k fans never sitting down. North Endzone Crazy loud and pround GO GRIZ!!!
They have definitely been to their share of championship games. But their record is only 2-6. They've really had the opportunity to win more. Many of those losses were not by much.
I agree but if Oregon State and Wazzu join it would throw a curve ball Maybe with 9 conferences next year SDSU NDSU SD ND Montana Montana State Idaho Idaho State Northern Iowa Northern Colorado Sac State Portland State all could make a jump
In my opinion you know how in College Basketball, there's too many teams that people like, you know Georgetown, Xavier, and Villanova and then there's the power houses like Virginia, North Carolina, Duke and Kansas, I think it'll be something similar in College Football since alot schools will make the leap from FCS School to a Group of 5 FBS School
I don't think the monetary gain for them is worth it for those schools due to their success, tradition, and rivalries all around. The travel costs would be insane for SDSU and NDSU to both the MAC and the MWC with no real traditional rivalries other than themselves. All four have strong brand recognition and fanbases due to their success at the FCS level and I think they are helping it grow more
NDSU is also a Missouri Valley Conference School along with The Pioneer League Teams Drake and Valparaiso. How do the Travel Costs shake out for Basketball Men's and Women's?🤔🏀B.W.
@@EmbracetheGrind Missoula is definitely not known for this. It's a chain with stores all over the US, and I'd never heard of it before you mentioned it (I grew up in Missoula). Try Bernice's or Le Petit Outre next time.
@@EmbracetheGrind You best get back to Missoula again soon. 🙂 One more recommendation. The Greek Pastry Shop - #1 Gyros. Best gyro I have had in the states. I eat here every time I'm in Missoula.

I learned how much potential Montana had in 2021. Unfortunately I went to that game as a husky fan
If you don’t know the huskies played Montana that year and losr
Best loss in the history of the program. It set the Dawgs down the path they are on today.
Got it wrong on Hauck. He was not a former football player. He ran track.
@@jodiekaste1851 what does this mean?
@paperdo lol love Montana but Go huskies 🐕

Great video; however, Hauck never played college football. He was a track and field athlete at Montana.
