ZEE Bangla Sampoorna featuring “Jute Story Beyond Bars” of Rakshak Foundation

“Jute Story Beyond Bars” is an industrious initiative of Rakshak Foundation, the CSR Implementing partner of Rakshak Group, in association with Directorate of Correctional Services, Government of West Bengal. This initiative aims to alleviate poverty through skill development while conserving the environment. Under this initiative, we provide skill development to the inmates of the correctional home of West Bengal to make diversified jute products of International quality and designs with a touch of Bengal. Every year we use up to 5 trillion disposable plastic bags. Out of which nearly 13 million tonnes of plastic waste enter the oceans. There is an urgent need to change our ways and move towards a sustainable lifestyle. India is the largest producer of Jute in the World and West Bengal being the highest contributor. 40 lakhs farmers and workmen are dependent on this cash crop for their livelihood. Through this initiative, we are promoting Jute as a fashion statement and use of this eco-friendly and biodegradable alternative against its counterparts.
