I highly reccomend you to check out "Downfall".That song has my favourite guitar solo from all of the metal, and I heard a lot of metal. And about lyrics...They have a lot of songs with pretty atmospheric lyrics, my favourites are "Angels Don't Kill" and "Everytime I Die". Kissing the Shadows or Children of Bodom (self titled) from Children of Bodom next time! Btw, this song is one of their heaviest ones because this band was first known as for their melodic death metal style which was more - forgive the repetition - melodic than it is in this track. They also made more use of the synthetizer andthe atmsosphere felt really different in previous albums. You should totally check those tracks i mentioned before.

Nothing beats old Bodom imo. You can take their first 3 or 4 albums (I actualy like most of the songs on Hate Crew Deathroll, though I know some people already put it into the "new" Bodom era) and basicaly blind pick any song and it's gonna be a goddamn masterpiece. My top 5 would most likely contain Kissing the Shadows (for obvious reasons, lul), Towards Dead End, Bodom after Midnight, Mask of Sanity and then basicaly any song from Something Wild album, because it's so hard to actualy pick just one song from this CD (would probably pick Deadnight Warrior or Lake Bodom if I had to).

Bit late to comment on this, but since Laiho has now died, it´s heartwarming to see videos like these. I have seen a couple of gigs from Children Of Bodom, one of my favorite bands of all time. Heck, I even have two song names tattooed on my back. Are You Dead Yet and If You Want Peace Prepare For War. Many friends of mine met them during gigs and festivals, met them once myself too. Alexi and his guitar style inspired me, lot of my friends and all in all, this was and still is one the biggest influences for many people. Laihos passing was truly a tragedy. Not surprising by any means, but tragedy still. Me and couple of my friends actually cried because of that and I sometimes tear up still while listening to Children Of Bodom.

You pronounced Espoo almost right! E, S and P were correct, but the O's are pronounced like in the English words 'on' and 'open'. The name Children of Bodom comes from this crime that happened years ago. Four teens went camping on Lake Bodom, which is somewhere in Finland, I don't remember where... (Close to Espoo, maybe?) In the morning, three of the teens were found stabbed to dead and I think the fourth was injured or sth... This happened in the 60s and they still haven't figured out who did it... The camping place was quite close to a popular swimming spot, many people also owned land there, plus one of the kids was still alive... But yeah, they never found out who did it and probably never will since it happened such a long time ago...

Sorry to post this again, just doing it to put my suggestions out there. I can recommend a few metal band to listen to. Sabaton, Nightwish, Blind Guardian, and Alestorm. Sabaton and Blind Guardian are more in the power metal side of things. Most of Sabaton's music is about the wars, battles, and heroes of the world. Blind Guardian is more fantasy metal. They have an entire album about Lord of the Rings, that they put out before the movies in the 90s, and one about the Wheel of Time series etc. Nightwish is symphonic metal, they have a female vocalist, right now Floor Jansen, and are an operatic type metal. Alestorm is pirate metal. Usually fast paced metal with songs about the seas, pirates, drinking and the like. For Sabaton: I'd start with something like Price of a Mile, 40 to 1, or White Death. For Blind Guardian: Mirror Mirror, Nightfall, or Valhalla. For Nightwish, their live stuff is the best: Ever Dream (live at wacken 2013), and after that Ghost Love Score (live wacken 2013). For Alestorm: Keelhauled, Magnetic North, Black Sails at Midnight, or Captain Morgan's Revenge.

Agreed, dude needs some Dimmu. Though I think Progenies of the Great Apocalypse would be a better intro track.

You pronounced Espoo almost right! E, S and P were correct, but the O's are pronounced like in the English words 'on' and 'open'.
The name Children of Bodom comes from this crime that happened years ago. Four teens went camping on Lake Bodom, which is somewhere in Finland, I don't remember where... (Close to Espoo, maybe?) In the morning, three of the teens were found stabbed to dead and I think the fourth was injured or sth... This happened in the 60s and they still haven't figured out who did it... The camping place was quite close to a popular swimming spot, many people also owned land there, plus one of the kids was still alive... But yeah, they never found out who did it and probably never will since it happened such a long time ago...
So thats what their song "Lake Bodom" is about?! Haven't listened to the lyrics really, but it sounds logical.

Sorry to post this again, just doing it to put my suggestions out there.
I can recommend a few metal band to listen to. Sabaton, Nightwish, Blind Guardian, and Alestorm. Sabaton and Blind Guardian are more in the power metal side of things. Most of Sabaton's music is about the wars, battles, and heroes of the world. Blind Guardian is more fantasy metal. They have an entire album about Lord of the Rings, that they put out before the movies in the 90s, and one about the Wheel of Time series etc. Nightwish is symphonic metal, they have a female vocalist, right now Floor Jansen, and are an operatic type metal. Alestorm is pirate metal. Usually fast paced metal with songs about the seas, pirates, drinking and the like.
For Sabaton: I'd start with something like Price of a Mile, 40 to 1, or White Death.
For Blind Guardian: Mirror Mirror, Nightfall, or Valhalla.
For Nightwish, their live stuff is the best: Ever Dream (live at wacken 2013), and after that Ghost Love Score (live wacken 2013).
For Alestorm: Keelhauled, Magnetic North, Black Sails at Midnight, or Captain Morgan's Revenge.
