Bulls fan here, honest take on Lavine: One of the best catch and shoot players in the game, Jokic would unlock this even more so. Is perfectly suited to be a second tier star/scorer. His efficiency goes down when he is the sole point of focus on an offense as he tend to force shots and passes. Can make very difficult shots. Is better defensively than you think. Has the physical skills to be elite, but is definitely serviceable on defense, esp on the perimeter Seems healthy this year, not the case in previous years as nagging injuries had effected his consistency Can burst a game open. No one on the nuggets can do this, save for Jokic. Ive seen him with the bulls the last 7 years. He can go for 40 at any moment. I recall a bulls game where he had maybe 2 at half time and ended up with 38. This would make the Nuggs deadly. He replaces everything that MPJ has (shooting), plus he can get his own shot, handle the ball, is a multi-tier scorer. You lose some size, but MPJ doesn't really use his size. Would have to factor this in any lineup
@@aiex3335the biggest issue I’ve seen nuggets fans have with the move is defense. This has been his best seaosn defensively on the ball. Interior is poor, but a lot of teams focus more on chucking 3’s than going for points in the paint.
LaVine with Jokic will unleash a level of offense that is almost unstoppable. Especially with Jamal on the weakside. MPJ skills can be easily replaceable
Bogi and Nance for MPJ is not enough for Denver imo both the Cam Johnson and DFS package and Lavine straight up is better than that. If they include Hunter then we can talk.
I think Cam Johnson just has more value than MPJ, honestly. Better contract. Don't see any world where they get both for MPJ. Also think that two mid-tier contracts gives them more flexible trade value in the future versus LaVine who would be more difficult to move (as chicago has learned in the last year)
@GameTheoryPodcastwSamVecenie I'm just going off of the reported package that along with Cam Johnson the Nuggets were looking for "another wing" like DFS or Bojan. If the talks were had and that report is true then I definitely prefer that depth package over Bogi and Nance. I have zero confidence Nance wouldn't just fall victim to every other backup big that comes through Denver and looks like trash with their bench. And to that point Nance would at best play like 8-10 minutes in the playoffs behind Jokic? So Bogi would be responsible for making up most of the production in that trade when it really matters and I just don't think he can. That's why I think I'd rather gamble on the Lavine trade over the Hawks package (unless it included Hunter). Aggravating the value of MPJ through Bogi and Nance might help in the regular season but I think it would pit fall in the playoffs when starters minutes go WAY UP.
@ but the bulls are very interested in trading lavine and not losing their top 10 protected first round pick in this loaded draft class. he’s making first option money as a second option and getting older. still has 3 years on his deal. Bulls could potentially package MPJ and Nnaji for picks. they are publicly saying they aren’t but nothing else works financially for the nuggets
It's either both Bogi and Hunter or Lavine. Other options don't make much sense for Nuggets. Nance might be additional piece but you don't trade MPJ for Bogi & Nance or Hunter & Nance.
Lavine adds secondary ballhandling and he can get his own shot--MPJ can do neither of those things. I like the trade for Denver's upside. Nuggets fans overrate MPJ --he is replaceable largely with Watson.
Murray is bad at the moment but also a PO Veteran who s made many clutch PO Runs, Gamewinner etc, while LaVine never even expierenced such a spotlight. Tho its sad that Murray isnt eligable for another trade. He s become a little headcase after the title.
Why don't people pay attention to the rules??? Jamal Murray just signed a $207m extension that will pay him $50m a year for the next 4 years. Under the CBA they cannot trade him until July and at that point, who wants his contract? They are probably stuck with him for the next 2 years at least. If the cap keeps going up, then in 2027 perhaps that contract won't look so bad. But, that's a long time from now. Essentially trading for LaVine is admitting they cannot rely on Jamal because he's been injured or ineffective 4 of the last 5 seasons: the one exception he was healthy and they won the title. But, this year he has Plantar Fasciitis and Achilles strain and has been in and out of the lineup. AGAIN. They would need a forward to replace MPJ too. Best for the Nuggets would be to add Jalen Smith to the deal and the Nuggets throw in some of their young players (Julian Strawther, Peyton Watson) plus a draft pick, but I doubt the Bulls would trade him. Unless they felt desperate to get rid of LaVine's contract, which they absolutely need to do.
If Im the bulls I'm super scared to take on Porter. He has a huge contract with 3 yrs on it. So if he doesnt work which as of now he hasnt shown that he could be a #2 or 3 for that matter its going to be hard to trade him. It might be smarter to break up lavines contract, trade vucevic play buzelis a lot, get worse and get a high pick who may be that #1 or 2 in the future.
I think it's only Levine because his contract is so bad that he can be gotten far cheaper than his worth. I would take either cam out of Brooklyn first especially cam the forward. That could be done without getting rid of Michael Porter Jr. I think picking up Zach LaVine would really be a bad thing for Denver. It might be okay in the regular season but that is going to be a very bad defensive backcourt come playoff time.

@@GameTheoryPodcastwSamVecenieI don’t see the Nuggets wanting to move Lavine tho long term based on what we’ve seen from Jamal
MPJ+Nnaji for Lavine is the move. Getting someone like Torrey Craig would be a bonus

Why would the Hawks want to do either of these trades with the Nuggets when they don’t have any good draft picks to offer? 😅

I don't disagree that Murray keeps making big shots. It's absolutely a big selling point.
Murray is the problem not MPJ, trading him would be a lateral move

Is The Denver Airport (AG and Lavine) coming to fruition?
Zach lavine is a top tier scorer.. Playing with jokic.. Man lavine will be a lethal perimeter threat.. Denver will be a better team
MPJ is more healthy than any of the trades you have mentioned
