Harry from Harry’s Garage seems to have nailed the roof storage, although not a solution for a press car 😂
Yeah and I think he l be going a touch quicker than sixty driving on the autoroute. I'm sure he said it was 150 mph you could do.
Today last part his long trip to the Route Napoleon
He also proved the roof works and keeps heavy rain out.
@@simons4474 Not in France, unless he wants to loose the car or incur heavy fines. 80mph in the dry, 68 in the wet, he's just posted a trip to his yacht in the south of France.
@@kw8757 Sam should have watched harrys video or maybe he has watched and had to make a list of cons as they are 120-130 thousand if you can find one.
It's funny seeing how Sam struggles with the roof, while for Harry Metcalfe it's a piece of cake. 😂 Practice makes the master, I guess.

He also showed how to stow the roof and maintain boot space and mentioned the speed with it on was at the 150mph mark I believe.
@@wheelsandwatches I am a lucky project 7 owner. The speed limit on the roof rail states 120mph with the roof in place
At 16.38 the plaque says it's 1 of 250. I thought Harry owned number 1, hence all the signature on the inside boot lid.
@@jonnyleslie1 I think that plaque is just to remind the owner that there are only 250 units built, not that it is car number one built.
My respect for Jaguar went way up seeing how gladly they’re letting Sam spend time with their products and special opportunities like this. Love seeing that storage!

I wish I could send you a personal thankyou Sam, you along with a number of other car people have kept me going these last few years, Saturday last week I took the plunge and finally bought one of my dream cars, a 1954 Morgan +4 four seater. It wasn't looking for this car in particular but it turned out to be everything I wanted in a car. The first trip out was heavenly and all those years fighting the blues, trying to figure out what I wanted to be all faded away. I'm extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to get and live my dream, but watching you on drive the world, and seeing people like Duncan Pittaway living his classic car dream, kept me going and gave me purpose and drove me to my dream. I'm sure I'll get go meet you one day and I can only wish you the best as you continue your journey.

A Project 7 would be an amazing thing to compliment the 360 and would say is properly undervalued currently, great usable collectors/enthusiasts cars but not an every day proposition.
I would love to have Tony doing commentary as Sam was trying to build the roof

The P7 is one of the rarest and best cars ever made. Good luck finding one. The 2015 F-Type R is essentially identical, so thats an easy choice. And all V8 F's tune to the same effortless 700HP, making the 2014 even more essentially identical.

There is a roof how-to on YT - and from Harry’s road trip video we can assume that the top speed with the canvas mounted is slightly above 60 mph.

I absolutely appreciate that you, Sam, have access to dailies, but the faff involved with that roof would make it undrivable for 75% of the year. It'll look fantastic in the garage, but it's beyond impractical.

The Fire car was the Thrust SSC fire support. Thrust 2, SSC and the new LSR car are all in Coventry Transport museum.

The Project 7 is the coolest and most special of the F-Types so I hope you somehow can afford one.
If not then I would go for the SVR, just because it sound better than the new R.

At the risk of repeating commented below… Sam…. A 60+ year old bloke has demonstrated less drama putting the roof on and off a project 7 and has also gives it considerable more over-steer on some interesting roads (don’t say being him being in the alps is an excuse).
I have a fast growing love for the Jaguar F-Type. Hhhmm might have to get one some day.
If love to see a video where someone just follows you and shows all the behind the scenes setup and filming you do. These vlogs are so great and then when you think about the extra b-roll you do it’s very impressive.

Sam I have a 2013 f type R with carbon brakes, it was registered in December 2013, the first f type R that was sold in the UK was registered in March 2014 so I have the only 2013 R in the world !!!!
Great video with the Project 7. I remember the first time I saw one, it took a bit of Internet searching to work outexactly what version of the F Type it was.

The roof? A small inconvenience for what is a super special drive. Just ask Harry doing a French tour in his. What a Jeckyll and Hyde beast!
Fire engine @6:18 - I thought that was used in support of Thrust SSC in late 90's.

Sam the fire engine XJ was the fire vehicle for Richard Noble's Thrust 2 land speed record run at Black Rock desert, Nevada in October 1983.

If you do end up purchasing another Jag it would be really cool to see a updated version of the Monaco road trip when shmee had the Cayman GT4 and SOL had the lambo but with the new cars, like the project seven, the 718 GT4 and the GTR from SOL

Do like the Proj 7 but would have to be an SVR coupe for me, that P7 roof looks a right faff and no boot space for touring/overnighting either... Great track weapon though...
It works if you're road tripping from UK to the south of France as Harry proved, however I kinda think you'd be better with an old SVR for the UK. Maybe a P7 in time where you can just use it for that kinda driving and have other super/sportscars for the UK.

Harry’s garage advises the P7 hood renders it ok to 150mph - not 60 mph!

Can’t believe I’m saying this but I prefer the modern F type. It’s much more usable as a car you could daily drive. In my mind the project 7 would be a car you couldn’t really drive much because of that roof. Imagine taking it to mainland Europe ? You’d need a separate car for your luggage
Ok I understand Sam can not deface the press car but as a project 7 owner, I have had the bulkhead in the boot cut away and retrimed. This allows for the roof components to be stored in there bags and the full set of f type luggage set to be carried in the boot. I can even place more soft bags into the wheel arches. I believe the project 7 has more capacity than a standard roadster.

Sam dream jag for sure. Sound amazing on over run . But roof is not practical you not use for road trips well or day to day out no store trips out going solo
