  • The world is absolutely drowning in plastic waste - and almost half of it is just packaging. There is a way out of this. Establishing and scaling up reuse systems could dramatically cut the single-use plastic that ends up as pollution - and it's already happening.
The Global #PlasticsTreaty is a historic opportunity. Reuse systems could cut plastic pollution by 30 percent by 2040. www.breakfreef...

Reusable will save many business and company alot of money in the long run once they invest in it, because they will never have to buy any single use packaging anymore and for consumer alot of product will be cheaper because YOU ONLY PURCHASE THE PRODUCT nOT the packaging!

CocaCola, the biggest plastics polluter now, used to do exclusively reusable packaging (refillable glass bottles). However, this required big commitments, big facilities, double transportation costs and huge workforce. It becomes cheaper with large numbers, but with the added risk of higher operation costs. Also in some countries the labour costs and regulations would make it very hard to reach their ridiculously high profit goals, especially in the recession times of the business cycle.
The person who pioneered this broken business strategy in US was Jack Welch, former CEO of General Electric and owner of CNBC. His insanely high profits streak made him a star among business circles, even started a school of management. Everyone started copying his principles since the 80's. Offshoring, downsizing and stock buybacks were some of his infamous strategies. General Electric after 2008 lost 40% of its value and 80% of GE Capital share value. Jack Welch's short-term profits were unsustainable business-wise and caused lots of environmental and other problems in the long-term.
There's a great video about this called "The Evil CEO that Elon Musk is Copying" by More Perfect Union channel.

People like new things, though, and almost no product lasts longer than 20 years. The waste reduction will be greatest at the outset when all the reusable items are new, but once they start wearing out, they will still have to go somewhere. Ban plastic and find the least bad thing to put into the waste stream.

    Greetings from Cairo, Egypt :)
I absolutely love your videos. Trustworthy, informative and entertaining! It's hard to balance all of this, especially discussing climate and ecology issues with all the disinformation campaigns from big polluters.
Thank you for doing this excellent research and presentation work.
    Wish you all the best.

Me parece bastante difícil implementar este tipo de política en todos los sectores económicos, creo que es más fácil elaborar envases de materiales biodegradables, y prohibir la utilización de plásticos de único uso 🤔.
