There’s a video out there of MJ breaking the backboard in a game overseas. He tomahawk’d over two defenders, shattered the board, and showered both defenders with glass. It was the coldest thing I’ve ever seen!
People say wilkins should have won this but I think they wrong. The gave his one handed windmill dunk a 50 when it should have gotten lower and jordan did the free throw line dunk again but that dunk in itself is hard to pull off smoothly especially the way jordan does it with the leg kicks and getting his head at rim level. It was a very close battle but jordan won by a hair.
The logo wasnt from this dunk contest, the logo was already on the tongue of his shoe. Jordan had flair for kicking out his legs on his dunks(as demonstrated in dunk contest,on dunk on thurl bailey),so that was recreated in a photoshoot which would be the official logo
You gotta react to any complete game of Jordan scoring 50 or more against the Knicks (with John Starks) or Pistons because those points were truly EARNED. I suggest that you do 4 videos, 1 per quarter. In the final video give a summary of the entire game.
Jordan had the better dunk package in this contest. Wilkins did the windmill 3xs. Jordan also demonstrated how versatile his jumping is by jumping off of 1 foot and 2 feet
It was interesting hearing your perspective on this. Nique was a 2 foot jumper. He was quick off of the floor and he was all power! Jordan could jump off of 1 or 2 feet. Also he is one of the few who actually dribble up to the line for his free throw line dunk, so timing and spacing is more of an issue. The scoring was all over the place in this one. It was a controversial decision.
This is why it's annoying when people say Nique got robbed this year. As you pointed out, several of his dunks throughout the contest should not have gotten a 50 while a few of MJ's dunks were a couple points low. Either people ignore this, or didn't see the whole contest. All they bring up is the last dunks were Nique got a 45 on his 3rd windmill of the contest and MJ ended up with a 50 on his 2nd FT dunk. Nique was explosive as hell and dunked like the rim slapped his mother or something, but he did NOT have a lot of variety in his dunks. Mostly 1 or 2 handed windmills and double pump reverses probably due to being a 2 foot jumper. I don't know if it's true or not, but I remember many years ago someone stating that MJ said he doesn't do 360s because they're too easy/everyone does it. Though he did do one in the '85 dunk contest. Also, the jumpman logo was from a photoshot for Life magazine back in '84 before he had even signed with Nike. If you search for the jumpman photo, you can see the original picture with a backdrop of the Chicago skyline. He's in Air Jordan apparel including long pants that you can clearly see the outline of in the logo.
Of course I think Jordan has more skills. But as far as the visual part goes I like Dominique's dunks a little better. Jordan has better technique but when Dominique dunks I like the way he slams as hard as he can with power and authority. Overall I give it to Jordan but Dominique damn sure ain't nobody to take lightly or play around with. Nique is still a bad boy.
I think Dominique was COMPLETELY robbed on this. I thought it when I saw it in 1988, I've thought it ever since and I still think it now. MJ repeated dunks and missed twice. I do disagree with one of the 50s Nique got, but only by a point or two, no more. But it was in Chicago. I'm livid but not at all surprised that it was handed to Jordan. 🤨
Jordan had the better package, more creativity, and more flair in his dunks. He also demonstrated he could jump off of one leg and 2 legs ,all while being equally explosive. I loved Nique's power. At the end,it what you prefer, power or grace. But we all won having these 2 compete, stars are too scared today

Thats the best dunk ever recorded.

People always say Nique was slighted but Jordan got hustled on 3 of his dunks as well. It could’ve went either way but I preferred Jordan’s.
100% agree,that's how I always felt!
1993 ECF Bulls vs Knicks Game 4
There's always one angle that shows how impressive Jordan's dunks are
Keep watching Jordan! I love it!
Dominique was a entertainer fr with his dunks 🔥
Check out Jordan vs. Dominique (12/10/86)!!!! Crazy highlights and Nique gets the best of MJj but they score a combined 100 pts.
These two are probably the best in game dunkers
The logo wasn’t from the dunk contest, it was from a photo shoot when MJ was a rookie.

Que last dunk is still one of the best dunks I ever seen.
If Jordan honey dipped that from the other side of the basket, that's the craziest dunk of all time.
The "logo" (Jumpman)
Was already on the shoes he was wearing during this contest.
Your videos are kinda cool...just pay attention. :)

The logo was photographed in a studio.

GO WATCH Wilkins hightlights! this man was cooking everyone!
Orlando woolridge did a between the leg dunk in the 80s
You see when they gave him 47 the look on his face? It was won right there.

0.92 second every time he did the foul line he got high and high last one was in the air for almost a min ..smh crazy..
Jordan’s cradle was definitely better than his wind mill.
Nique 360 was a 360…VC and everyone else turns their body before the jump
Dominque chose violence every time he dunked lol
Man u gotta check out Spud dunking at 5'7 and killin Dominique in 86.
Dominique won this contest. It was str8 home cookin.
2 hand windmill is a 50

Vince Carter 2000 dunk contest
Back when the dunk contest was actually a contest of the best dunkers in the ENTIRE NBA. LeBron has not "contested" it even once

Vince Carter was a better dunker. He 2 handed a dunk from the free throw line.
I think Vince was about 2-3' inside the FT line, but I might be misremembering.
He certainly did not!
To me Jordan lost this & I’m a jordan fan.

@@nickatnite16 I agree with everything u said my brother but because jordan did the free throw lane dunk twice, that’s why I say he lost.
