In today's Sayulita vlog we head to Bucerias, Mexico to do a little grocery shopping. Along the way we discuss the problem with living in Sayulita but also how we have really come to embrace living in a much smaller city compared to Puerto Vallarta. Enjoy :)

Although Sayulita is not exactly a hidden gem, we have really come to embrace the laidback atmosphere here. Sure it gets busy, but I think the lack of huge condo buildings, grocery stores, etc. really makes it feel like a pueblo/village compared to Bucerias or Vallarta. What other beach towns in Mexico do you think we'd like that are on the small (think village) side?
San Pancho is my fav ❤
San Pancho (San Francisco) is much cleaner, much greener, less chaotic, and less pretentiously hip. Also less brazen drug use. Also, almost all real estate titles in San Pancho were privatized (i.e. regularized) years ago. Few if any risky properties still with ejido papers. (Soy 25 year Nuevo Vallarta and Bucerias resident but now living in Playa del Carmen.)
My three favorite places are Playa del Carmen, Munich and Garmisch. Enjoyed your European videos.
Todos Santos Baja Sur
I might be in a minority, but I wasnt to impressed with the restaurants in Sahualita. Do like Sahualita Public House for drinks
Hard to answer depending on what your interests are within that small community. There are plenty of small beach towns that are “suburbs” of the bigger tourist areas giving you the benefits of both. Pie de la Cuesta is one of those small village feels just outside of Acapulco that I initially liked….as a tourist. As a resident, I prefer being closer to a grocery store where I can walk with my bag lady cart and not struggle with grocery bags on a bus. I have some fellow Mexico traveler friends that merely got on a bus and cruised down the Hwy 200, stopping where they liked. Found some hidden gems that nobody knows about that way.
My suggestion is to get out your map and do some exploring until you find what feels like home to you. Can’t wait to see where you are going to travel to next :)
What a coincidence! It must be the algorithm, as I happened to watch a video earlier this morning from a solo female traveler who just moved to Sayulita. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it is near Vallarta. Seems like it has a nice small town vibe and beaches.
I found this regarding Cap'n Crunch not having his face shown in Mexico:
Captain Crunch is not openly sold here in México, you can only get it at more exclusive supermarket as imported product.
Since some years ago, it's required to put a sign on products with high levels of sugar, carbs, sodio, etc. Indicating the same
It's also not allowed to put advertising targeted to minors in those products, so that's why the captain is hidden
WHAT?! wow. this is fascinating!
I'm glad I could be of service to you and help you uncover some of the idiosyncracies of Mexico. 😂😂😂
Exactly, that's a relatively recent law.
The lady at that little store where you bought the beans is SUPER nice. We shopped or chatted with her almost everyday for the month of February when we were there. Glad to see you're enjoying!
Great to see you back in Mexico 🎉 Interesting comparisons with the cost of food. Very informative 😊
I'm so happy you're back in Mexico
So glad you are back in Mexico where we first started to watch your videos. I enjoy these much more than your world traveling ones.😊
Mexico's not allowed to have "characters" on their junk food. No Captain Crunch, no Nesquik Bunny (although I've noticed some exceptions to the rule...)
@@RedroomStudios I think the hope is more for the next generation, not the current ones... but I like the lack of "billboards" if that makes sense... feels less cluttered.
Lol Mexico trying too hard to be woke lately. If they were serious about their health issues they would ban Coca Cola.
@@sleepybear7642 Yes, that’s exactly why! It’s obviously part of the marketing and I totally support its ban. Behind this campaign, or part of, is the fact that Mexico is the second country in the world with the highest levels of obesity, only after the USA, if I’m not mistaken, so they’re trying to mitigate this problem. They’ve also banned junk food being sold/fed to students in schools.
@@aboch6628 yeah Mexico is a pretty chunky looking country lol. Mexican cuisine alone is pretty fattening. Lots of grease. On top of that with American fast food brands in the country. So it gets both worlds
Me Da mucho gusto ver Los De regreso En Mexico Su Casa . Porque se lo an Ganado.
Ahhhgggg ,😅 si se les ve cara de fuchi.
You are exactly right about Sayulita. I hope to visit again in May. I will be staying Bucerias but will drive to Sayulita.
I'm having fun just by watching you guys thanks for the videos. Be safe out there.
We are in the Decembre district in Vallarta thinking of checking out Sayulita ...so thankful for your videos that got me here!
You have not lost your sense of humour 😎✌️
I do my groceries every two weeks because I don't have a lot of time to go shopping. It works out fine because I save time and money. Plan your menu ahead of time
¡Very good jingle! (4:28) 👍👍👍
You can find many items in Sayulita. La Comer has much more selections but also very expensive. Only go there if you need items not found in Sayulita.
Guacamole Tips
Le faltó un poco de chile verde serrano (solo un poco)
un poco de cilantro y si le ponen el hueso del aguacate dura mas tiempo.
Wow Hillary, I'm impressed with your quick popup.
Excellent vid, so glad you're back! While I Love Sayulita, San Pancho (San Fransisco) just up a short way is more my pace.. Can't wait to get back down there!
"Atun dolores..." loved it. You guys rock
I didn't realize that Sayulita was that small, very cool! I saw another video that said no cartoon characters on cereal boxes as Guillermo Carrillo said. If you don't have to shop all that often, I guess it's not too bad having to go to Bucerias. Glad you are relaxing and enjoying!
We just moved from Bucerias to Lake Chapala. Best move ever 🎉
That food looks bomb guys!!!❤🎉😊
Your cooking skills are getting stronger. Good stuff 😊
Good video, thank's for sharing from mexico
Love, love, love Sayulita, Lo de Marcos, and San Pancho.
Dude! I Fn love love that jingle! Atún Dolores 🙌
I just love the comercial coffee// you guys do it great!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🫶🏼🇲🇽🥰
Nice to see you back in Mexico. I've just resubscribed.😍
OMG, you guys continue to crack me up!
love the jingle, girl!
hahah thank you!
@4:38 Ok, that was just adorable. 🙂
Love the jingle,hahaha!😮
Me encanto el comercial del café 😄😄😄
Omg 😮😮😮😮😮 what the heck are you two doing back in Mexico … from the ranch in Campeche we have travel quiet a bit !!! Hualtuco where the two of you visited l tried the ice cream Hilary tried … Puerto Vallarta … and now living here in Tehuacan Puebla … visited Orizaba Veracruz our next destination where we want to live !! Mainly liking the cooler temperatures compared to Campeche … so great to see you back in Mexico ❤❤
love you guys
Hey guys welcome back
thank you!
Kinetic Kennons , love ur videos . will u also stay in sayulita during winter and hurricane season Or a different place ?
Enjoy your day
Nice vid!
BTW you also don’t want to sit at the back of the bus also. I learned that the hard way. Also I liked going to LaComer and sitting for a bit in the coffee shop. They give you two little cookies with your coffee.
Enjoy
Wow, you moved to Sayulita. Why?! It has a cool vibe but so crowded and so expensive. Just the 10 years we been coming to this area has seen a huge difference!
nothing like the smell of an sweaty old bus in México 🇲🇽 😍🥲🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha. I was just in a City Market in San Miguel, saw a whole shelf of Captain Crunch just like that and thought the exact same thing!
Saludos chicos de Aguascalientes México
You guys are sooo funny 😅
Love Sayulita, great reference to Hawaii,, aloha
You shop at La Comer on a budget? Across the he lot is Mega!
chickens are great to eat all the bugs... love it
Hillary has great balance on the board. Doing great!
We are in PDC right beside a mega and shop everyday bc we have 3 kids and they don’t eat out with us at the cheap taquerias. We buy a lot of mangoes + choc milk which are heavy 😂I want to go other places like Huatulco or P.Escondido but I see how convenient having a grocery store is, but still walking dist to beach!
Saludos desde Chicago, soy de Guadalajara
I was in La Comer and a frozen pizza was $12 US. Here in Virginia it's like $7. Mexico is not that great on prices. La Comer is expensive. Go a bit further to Walmart. Much better on the wallet.
Visited Sayulita once and seemed like a crap-hole. Nearby San Pancho seemed nice.
Sayulita is like shopping at 7-11, big grocery store like walmart in Texas.
Maria cookie is originally from Spain, and it's ubiquitous around the world.
Did you notice the two small dogs that were the "Gringo Alarm"?
Bark Bark! "Here come Gringos to ask for stuff Mexico doesn't sell! No, we don't have any Dr Pepper!"
I'm coming to Puerto Vallarta in January 25
Hola amigos ❤ saludos 👋
By the way I love ❤️ your iguana shirt// looks 👀 amazing 🤩!!!!!!
You wouldn't think Quesadillas de Frijoles (refried beans quesadillas) is good but it is. Been eating those since 95' 🎉🎉😋
Why I live in Bucerias, still feels small town but I don't surf.
I'm there too.
Same
Visit Papantla, Veracruz, the home of the vainilla y prehispanic city of El Tajin. You will enjoy the trip...book eco tours there!
Atun Dolores is the best, good choice.
San Pancho all the way.
Wow !!! ... that jingle , so catchy ... Spectacular !!!! ...
Hello guys ❤
What, you don’t pound down a few brewskis at the grocery? 🍻 🍺 🍻 😂
hahahaha! Apparently we're going to need to start doing just that!
🎵 ☕️ 🎵 Cool!!! Taiyaki
I just saw on someone else's video that Mexico banned animals on kids' packaging..or at least cereal...maybe they banned any type of cartoon/mascot.
We were in Sayulita about 6 years ago. We had high expectations but we found the place to be overrated, expensive and really smelly. Have they fixed the sewage problem? It was actually stinky, not smelly. People were swimming in the Ocean not realizing a large sewage was only a hundred meters away from them. I hope they managed to sort it out.. I remember lots of people complained about being seriously sick after swimming in Sayulita back then
I am a Polish/Lithuanian USA citizen,, i want another country,, I plan on visiting Krakow ,, but mexico sounds like a good option,, whats your opinion?
You guys are freaks 😊 u rock
Love your gingle! I don't think I spelled that correctly.
Sounds like you need a grocery delivery service. Cornershop and others will do all the shopping and delivery..... here in Merida.
I thought I was the only one who sang that song when picking up galletas Maria 😂
My wife and I joke that La Comer is the Whole Foods of Mexico.
Like 'Whole Foods' but affordable!
Haha You guys are so cute!
Or am I just weird that I find it so entertaining watching you shop?!
You don’t need to answer that….
Guys! Nice to watch your videos again, except I am watching and old one . Any how, I hope by now you are wiser and do your groceries shops in those little markets that every single " Colonia" have, they are cheaper than Walmart or La Comer. Look for them, Palmar de Aramara market is one of those. Hugs and congrats for becoming a future parents!!!
Hey guys I stopped you when you guys walked my booth on the beach at Don Pedros
La güera es muy divertida
Dónde es
Guys, check out the tuna in envelopes instead, I LOVE it! - Anne
Mas caro
@@rfink222 Si, pero creo que es mucho mejor.
You guys did not want to move to Mazatlan?
Sayulita nice place
Why you didn't choose San pancho? Is not it better?
eso es normal en lugares turisticos compra en el mercado o en la tiendita del barrio dpnde compra todo mundo
Middle Norte
Micheladas at or near the beach is just a vibe 👍
Re. Capt.Crunch: in Mexico, you are not allowed to put cute little mascots on anything that sells or advertizes to kids.
In Hawaii too chicken everywhere I mean everywhere
I really enjoy your Mexico videos. I have to say I was not a huge fan of Sayulita. It seemed over run with hipster tourists and expensive. I could see it was probably an excellent place to visit 20 years ago... Thanks for all your fun videos and your easy going positive personalities. It helps to watch your videos and imagine I'm back in Mexico.
Maybe bicycles would be a good investment for your transportation to less expensive markets and grocery stores.
Too expensive I live on an Island that we consider its high price , but I bought 1 avocado Kilo for $50.00 , Gays you need to visit Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche I am sure you will love it.
Have you guys entertained living in San Pancho?
Odd that it’s cheaper in the grocery store than the local shops.
I'm hearing a lot of peeps getting sick down there. Any Experience with this lately?
Sayulita feels so gooooood 🥰🥰🥰
Everything is much more expensive in Nayarit due to tourism.
Did you forgot to add the serrano peppers 🌶️ or the jalapeños 😅👌👍
Jaja😅
