I was already a Belew fan when I heard Vai for the first time in '83. I remember thinking "wow - wouldn't it be too cool to hear Vai & Belew do something together?" Well - it took 41 years, but that wish came true, and it's maybe even better than I thought it could be!
I was initially skeptical about Vai's inclusion in the tour based solely on my own ignorance of his prodigious talent. I understood he was a virtuoso but I associated him primarily with Dave Roth and Whitesnake. Boy was I wrong. He's bringing something incredibly exciting and vital to this music I never expected. His presence on this tour not only has made me a fan of his, but it's opened up a real interest in his entire catalog. I really love everything and everyone involved in this tour, but Vai is turning out to be a revelation.
I was excited to see how Vai would approach this song - it’s really quite incredible how he plays these parts, it’s like a parallel universe has opened up - they’re different, but fit perfectly.
This was such an amazing show. Adrian picked the perfect combination with Steve and Danny. I love how they were true to the original songs but added so much power and soul. Crazy good band. Go see this if you can.
I don't remember what song it was but Vai hit a pinch harmonic about 2/3 the way through that resonated through some filters and shook the whole building it was wild
It's called a 'tongue drum' or 'slit drum'.....when they toured in '84- Bruford would walk around with the slit-drum miced up...Carey is using electric pads replicating the sounds
sorry but no ... I don´t like the Steve Vai style ... turns the masterpiece into a very different (and dissapointing to me) arrangment ... and the way he looks is somewhat disrespectful for King Crimson
I love Adrian during Steve's solo. Hands folded, standing like a Buddhist, listening, letting the music wash over him.
This song really goes well with what Vai brings to the table to this band.

I was lucky enough to be in the room for this performance. Lovely.
I was there. Phenomenal show. ✅️💯
Steve Vai, Adrian belew, Levon helm, king crimson- what a treat.
Levon Helm?, I can't wait to see what these guys do with "Up on cripple creek"
@@nadaproblem806haha! I was thinking Fatman in the Bathtub. Cripple Creek is The Band.
@@spiderbass65 It sure is The Band!
I can't get enough of this. Wonderful sounds.
What an amazing feat for a professional musician to perform on a rotating stage!!😮
It took me half the video to realize that the stage was rotating and we weren't watching drone footage spinning around the band.

@@DKStanford I was schooled as well!

Even though im a critic , re art rock , he did play on PIL album
Don’t think I could play while spinning in circles! Sounds incredible!
Vai is killing it. So impressed.
Such a fun show it was a great vibe there. I love the guitar synth in this song it's otherworldly
Las Vegas show for me! Can't wait! Thanks for the video!

Nicely filmed

thank you
Go back and watch Zappa plays Zappa zombie woof.
One of the most incredible solos of all time
Oh wow...❤❤❤I hope you can come to Germoney 🙏🥰🎸🎶
I was at this concert. One of my all time favorite shows. The Celebrity Theater is an incredibly rare venue where any seat is close enough. 👍✌️🙂
I’ll see y’all in Atlanta!
Tony Levin is on beyond zebra.
Via's solo... I mean... wow...
I need to find some shade and water! This is a thirst trap for more Crimson.

Doesn't Bruford usually play a multi toned wood block on this? Not that Carey has to or should, but wondering if Bruford ever used a kit for this?

I think it was a loop this time. I believe on one of these videos Carey played the hand drum, or “tun.”
Steve’s guitar synth interpretation is slot snakier than Fripp’s
“snap shot“
Love the original band too much..to entertain this..without .bruford and fripp..this is bubble gum $

Eager to hear which part of the notoriously strickt King Crimson dress code he's violating.
Sounds like some great guitar playing tome , just enjoy
I, too, missed some of that Fripp sobriety and restraint. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel Vai is occasionally showboating - decidedly not a KC vibe
