I was hoping you'd comment on how this stacked up to the Scott Genius 920. I can tell you're still a little iffy/hesitant/coming to grips with the 29ers, and the genius/sight is more trail geometry in their 29er spec. I'll be interested to see what your thoughts are on a pure enduro geometry 29er.
LetsTestDrive I’m looking forward to testing the Norco Range. I’ll try and get on a medium and squeeze a couple more days out of it. The Genius was slightly more capable descending than the norco, a little more travel (20mm rear 10 front) made the bike feel planted and supple. I feel like I could find the limit on the sight sooner than the genius. Genius was super smooth over hard fast braking bumps and bomb holes, where the Sight gets closer to its limit in that stuff. A long travel proper descending 29er might be just the ticket to get my juices flowing, especially on the high speed rough trails
I feel the same about carbon frames. I’ve got a 2018 Canyon Torque carbon and it’s bloody beautiful, but how long till I destroy it? Alloy is just so much less to worry about. Every time I hear a rock flick up and bash the frame I shit myself😂
really insightful review mate, well done. I actually test rode this bike just recently and i really enjoyed it....im really tempted by this bike....but kinda got my eye on the Optic C2 as well at the moment....still undecided. :(
Josh O'Brien Thanks Josh! I’d opt for the bike with more travel, unless you want a climbing machine. The Sight climbs like a demon but is a little porky 🐷. Descends with comfort
Did it come with the pedals because I’m currently looking at the same one on the website but I shows with no pedals, sorry only have had a couple mountain bikes in the past so still got questions
Charlie Bosevski nah no pedals. These days most of the higher end bikes come without pedals, which is kind of good to keep waste down. Most people develope a liking for a specific pedal so the factory ones often used to end up in the bin. Suss the nukeproof horizons or the bontrager composite pedals, both killer pedals
Hey how does this compare to the remedy? Looking at both bikes, and for something that descends but is still poppy and fun. Need more bike than my giant trance. Thanks!
Andrew Lynch Its a killer all round trail bike, but the remedy is definitely a more capable descender. Stays more calm when things get wild. I’d say this is a little more baller than the trance and a little less baller than the Remedy. If you wanna go full plow I’d get the Reign 1, that bikes descending quality was a standout, and not bad for big long trail rides as well
MTB Telly Wicked cheers that's kinda what I suspected. Ridden a remedy once and a reign twice, felt the remedy was slightly more poppy but hopefully I can get a back to back next month. Sounds like I might need to go more baller than the sight!
Jim Allocco i climbed with it full open on almost every climb, I climbed in the middle setting once and it felt firmer but I was happy to leave it in descend for everything after that. The bike weighed 14.9 kg, and I felt like it climbed really well. I dont have much to compare it to directly as yet but this will serve as a benchmark for the next mid travel 29ers I ride
Jim, I have a 2016 carbon Sight 27.5 with a DB shock, live in the homeland of Norco ( West B.C. ), and bob when climbing, fire roads or tech, has never been an issue. The Sight is the most versatile climber / descender I've ridden. I rode the 29'er for a couple of hours the other day, and it climbs just fine - it wasn't my taste for the descent, I prefer the twitchy nature of the 27.5, but it steamrolled roots, rocks and behaved well on the gravel while climbing - if you pedal for your turns, I'm confident you'll enjoy this bike.
Jim Allocco jimbo, sorry for the late reply! I wouldn’t call it plush but it can certainly deal with the descents considering the amount of travel it has
Kurtis good trails up there dude. A couple of nice ones on the other side of the guard rail as well. You gotta play Frogger 🐸 crossing the road up top but haha
Im looking at the A3 Sight!
:22 seconds - thought the dog was going to make the pass! Good review.
NCtrail4R he’s got all the inside lines sussed
MTB Telly I’m looking at the same bike in a large. At 5’9” (175 Call me when you get a minute. ) I’m wondering if it would be better to get a medium.

WAZmc hahaha yeah thats the struggle man. That bike must be so sick!
The bike is a descending weapon, make a mistake and it just soaks it up!
3 / 10 for the presentation, 7/10 for the riding, 10/10 for the dog.
Ben Gordon needs more dog
everything needs more dog - remember that dog suspension is 7 times that of any bike.

MTB Telly Oh ok nice to know, thanks for the quick reply and I’ll now know that when I get one

Andrew Lynch yeah the remedy is definitely a playful bike, loves the jumps
I've heard this bike has a lot of pedal bob when climbing with the shock in the open position. Did you experience any of this?

Ben Gordon Thx Ben. One more question. On the 29er version, is the rear end plush enough for the descents?
Jim Allocco jimbo, sorry for the late reply! I wouldn’t call it plush but it can certainly deal with the descents considering the amount of travel it has
What trail was this?
Alcoholicone Ando’s at belair
Cheers, been keen to check out Randell park once it's reopened for bikes.
Alcoholicone i havent seen much of Randell side, eager to get out there more and explore the place
Interesting, will have to check out
