    Great video with clear instructions- helped me with my first battery change. I couldn't help but notice that you used a battery charge socket (not oem location) on the left rear fairing - there is already one on the same side just above your left foot peg. Why didn't you use that? Was this new accessory socket installed for the pillion use?

    • @WheelStories
      @WheelStories  Рік тому +1

      Habit. I've always used that socket. Seems easy to use. The previous owner must have had it installed there.

    Hi Wheels, I was headed your way after many delays due to family and health. However waited too long and winter has arrived. Maybe next summer I will make it to the NW.
    As always, I enjoy your videos. Take care and stay safe

    Thx for the great video. I'm fairly new to the R1150R and it really helped me change my battery, K&N filter & upgrade the chip.. If you're interested in upgrading the chip I've an extra John Gemi stage 9 chip(for stock bikes) I can send you. John sent me two from across the pond. Not a super hard install & def an increase in performance..

    I'll bet this is one thing you like better about your HD Roadster! The battery and air filter are about a 10 minute job on that bike. Good video. 👍

      True. The tank on the BMW is requires too many removal steps. Bit of a pain. Thanks for watching.

      I don't recall the part numbers off hand but you can get good information at beemerboneyard.com. That's where I purchase most of my parts for maintenance. Thanks for watching.

    Didn't credit my 2009 video, but whatever. Production tools and camera tech has certainly improved. You need to pump up the jam for one of your R1150R bikes, there's better overall performance hidden in there. Will drop by when I'm riding in the area to discuss.

    Demonstrated in a very understandable way, does something speak against K&N air filters from your point of view?

    • @WheelStories
      @WheelStories  2 роки тому

      I believe K&N are good filters. I've not had experience with them but have heard good reports on K&N.

    Great video, quick question, by removing the tank, do you have access to the voltage regulator and the alternator connection? I need to run some tests because I am having some battery problems, thanks.

    • @WheelStories
      @WheelStories  Рік тому

      I believe so. Try doing some google searches on the subject. You will likely find some posts about troubleshooting alternator and voltage regulator problems on some of the BMW motorcycle message boards and web sites. You will need to remove the tank and other components underneath to get to the alternator is my understanding.

    I have 2002 R1150R.
    Did you change the fuel pump?
    I don't know when the fuel pump will be replaced, so I'm curious.

    • @WheelStories
      @WheelStories  2 роки тому

      I did not replace the fuel pump. The fuel filter is probably due for replacement. I may do that over the winter.

    I just purchased a 2004 R1150r wo ABS. Do you have any suggestions on bleeding the hydraulic clutch. The OEM clutch breather valve does not accept a brake fluid drain hose (no nipple!). Thanks

    • @WheelStories
      @WheelStories  2 роки тому +1

      To be honest I have my local BMW shop replace my clutch fluid. Without the nipple the job looks like a hassle. I've heard of owners installing a nipple at the drain hose, to make the job easier, but I don't know the specifics on how they install the nipple. You might find some videos or message boards that address the subject. Good luck with the new bike.

      @@WheelStories You can buy the nipple at the local dealership. From nipple installment(which is pretty straightforward) it’s like bleeding brakes.

    As I go through my new to me r1150r I want to renew the air filter. Do I need to remove the gas tank. Thanks again.

    • @WheelStories
      @WheelStories  2 роки тому

      You can get to the air filter without removing the gas tank. One option is to remove the nuts that attach the plastic side panels to the back of the tank then remove the big bolt on the right side of the bike that holds the tank to the frame. This way you can lift the back of the tank up to get a little more room to replace the filter. You don't have to detach the oil coolers at the front of the tank or disconnect the fuel lines.
