He has such a mature voice and a sense of humor that makes you laugh...I get the feeling he's humble, in a way. He makes a big deal about not going out of the way to watch himself on television, he isn't full of himself. And doing that, he purposely brings himself down to the audience's level. It's funny because he's a sweet guy, charming (I love him, because I've come to just l-o-v-e Snape) and if he cracks some witty joke, he can just keep on talking with the same straight face!
I can't help myself, I just love Alan more and more!!! sigh, he is so special! He is unlike any other actor out there today. Why doesn't more people see that???
This interviewer doesn't even let him answer his questions. Who was he doing an interview with? Himself? He just talked and didn't listen. Alan was so classy and gracious about it. What a loss, that this wonderful man is no longer with us... I'm so sad.
Alan's in a completely different dimension from this guy depth and... speed-wise. I want to give the interviewer a cup of hot tea and tell him to simmer the hell down.
I love how he's matured so gracefully and I love that he's always humble yet contradictory at the same time. What I'd love to see is an interviewer say 'So Alan, why have you never played a villian' he'd be in heaven
lolol i have a taken classes in college about body laguage and when the reporter says something about all the villain roles i love that look of are you a complete idiot that comes over alans face lolol
If I were Alan, (with his patience and thus not murdering that guy) I would just run away screaming crying shouting and I don't know what, after hearing for the 10*10^32th time that I was playing villains. Alan doesn't play villains, he plays interesting people. I wish one day we could get an interview with him in which he Just Talks! ALONE. Such an intelligent person has enough to say, believe me.
This is interesting, how Alan conduct this interview. I can hear his invisible voice,"what this idiot asking this stupid questions" 😁 He does not mean it, of course. he is a gentleman. always focused on what he has to do in this occasion.
This is why unless you have a love of theatre you should NOT speak about theatre to Alan, it is his background, it is what helped him become a brilliant actor and something he holds dear to his heart, the interviewer, whilst many things were bad with this interview, that is one of the things that annoyed me the most. I know, everyone is allowed their own opinion but still, the interviewer made himself look like an idiot but, thankfully, Alan put him in his place and politely done as well.
Rickman very gracious here but the interviewer is dismissive and therefore disrespectful about all the other actors he mentions during the course of the interview. First he puts down the stage production of Sweeney Todd (starring Angela Lansbury, easily a friend of Mr Rickman's) in what the latter calls "kind of a legendary performance", ignores Rickman's mention of another great stage performance of Todd then talks up the upcoming movie of it on the basis that he likes the pretty colours? 1:50 OK blue sepia tones are nice but he makes it sound like he prefers movies over stage productions for no reason more substantial than the lovely colours and costumes.
There is far too much criticism on UA-cam of TV interviewers, and it always seems to be when they are speaking to our "idols," or at least people whom we like. I think the interviewer did his job OK and wasn't in the least dismissive.
@@lewars1912It's because for a too long period of time they've been omnipotent. TV hosts invited people, were the only ones to ask questions, were the only ones to express their opinion on smth. They and critics were able to make or destroy a person/ production. And, like in this case, many of them didn't care much about the guest, but rather about expressing their own cleverness. Nowadays, thanks to the Internet EVERYONE can express their opinion (however idiotic sometimes) which brings a huge amount of freedom.
The best interviewers know the interview is about the guest, not themselves. They shine the spot light on their guest. They ask thoughtful questions and allow the guests to respond. This guy did not. I have seen several excellent interviews where the interviewer let Alan speak. This was not one of them. Thankfully Alan was his usual gracious self and handled it effortlessly ❤️
What a major faux pas it is to badmouth other Sweeney Todd productions! And how gracefully Alan puts the guy in his place. 'Shame you didn't see Patti LuPone and Michael Cerveris... Oh, you did? Well, I thought they were wonderful in it...' Touché.
LOL look at his reaction to the question "What about you singing?" 3:42 his eyebrows, ooh hard pill to swallow for him^^ shame he doesn´t like his singing, I do! with this voice c´mon on! sexy
@redcraft1 I was talking about big films, "blockbusters", not movies for TV. If you check out his wiki page, you'll see that he starred in TV productions, mostly BBC miniseries and BBC TV movies. Which is not a bad thing, as far as I'm concerned most BBC productions, even for TV, far exceed, quality-wise, the rubbish that Hollywood passes for films these days. HOWEVER, as partial as I may be to all things British (:D), one cannot deny the fact that Die Hard made him a household name.
I couldn't help myself, I had to laugh at 4:55 because out of all the "likable roles" Alan has done, the guy picks Harry from Love Actually!lol! Yeah, who wouldn't like a husband who cheats on his wife! Like come on! What an idiot, but its still funny non the less.:) Poor Alan. He can never get a break. There is always at least one reference towards his "evil" characters in interviews.
@abbamoney I have the same feeling watching the video from the very first second. He looked more relieved when talking about the preparation of Sweeney Todd. But he had that "slightly annoyed but forced smile" face on when the interviewer asked the cliche "villains" and "Shakespeare". Why is that I feel the US interviewers tend to give their opinions to the interviewee, rather than the other way round? After all, I am more interested in the interviewee's thoughts and insights.
Alan always ends up with the worst interveiwers! if it was a woman interveiwing him, she would be so mesmerised with his voice that she wouldnt dream of interrupting him
@ChaoticDarling Especially when he says he's good at playing villainous roles. They amount of times even I have heard Interviewers say that to him. He must be sick of it. They obviously don't look at the smaller roles he's done, e.g The Search for John Gissing. You can just tell by Alan's facial expressions can't you, haha.
Rex Harrison played a great Henry IV by Pirandello and was a great Shavian performer - there is more to classical acting than "shakespeare" - it looks like Alan Rickman is VERY uncomfortable with this appalling interviewer.
If i ever met him i will tell him that hr is loveable all round. You can't be hating on him you know what i mean. Anyway any movie he's in makes it a great movie(do to his sexy sexy voice)i am cruntly trying to get ahould of all his movies he's made(im 13)and do to his Severs Snape role i've been in love with him. -- >--
@Nnirvania yeah really, this was just pathetic... i had watched this interview before and forgotten how ridiculous the interviewer was. my god, let him talk! and the comments he made are so stupid... ugh.
Oh my god. Why do American hosts always talk this much? You're supposed to interview... not give a speech about your own opinions! He keeps screaming and interrupting Alan. Poor thing
Me encantan las expresiones del principio de la entrevista jajajaja!!! me parece que esta un poco constipadito y tiene algo en la boquita jajajajaja!!!!
I can't stop watching videos of him. I'm in love.
Arent we all?
+AceripXF You can bet ... we are ... ;)
In 2022, and still in love
@@lorybell2196 He is Soo easy to love, isn't he?

I think the interviewer had too much coffee
Alan's in a completely different dimension from this guy depth and... speed-wise. I want to give the interviewer a cup of hot tea and tell him to simmer the hell down.
You are absolutely right!
My God, he was so beautiful inside and out. What a wonderful man.
Yes he sure was!
He's still beautiful, but just not here!
Just a class act of a human being. So humble and warm. RIP Sir. You are greatly missed!
I still can't believe die Hard was his first movie. He's too good to be so underused. He appears to be a wonderful person, always a gentleman.
His voice make me feel safe
I'm in love with this man
Jesus Christ, I love Alan Rickman with everything I have. He was truly a gift to the world.
I do love Alan Rickman. His voice makes me feel fever!
I love how he's matured so gracefully and I love that he's always humble yet contradictory at the same time. What I'd love to see is an interviewer say 'So Alan, why have you never played a villian' he'd be in heaven
What a lovely interview. I could watch Alan all day! He's just Soo beautiful 🤩❤️
Never interupt Alan Rickman.
his voice , his smile , his body , his eyes .. oh fuck , Alan , I need you , now , at this moment !

You forgot his gorgeous nose!
I think I'm in love...
Damnit now I have to watch the Harry Potter movies again...

such a great actor
I am watching him say "I do" at 5:29 over and over and OVER again. I'm such a dreamer lol...
the interviewers voice is driving me nuts - and then alan rickmans voice. wow.
im annoyed with the interviewer, its like he just doesnt get how much he should be in awe of Alan Rickman
IKR😡
love his sense of humor.. " fire that actor whoever he is.." haha
HE'S SO CUTE UGH
This interviewer is a piece of work. How can he rattle on like that?
i love his voice!!!he's not only a perfect actor!!!
Thanks so much for posting this interview. I watched it close to its release date & have been looking for it ever since. Thanks again. Yay!

"blue sepia tones"? and that's the least problem with this interviewer. Alan Rickman was patient and gracious.
Rickman very gracious here but the interviewer is dismissive and therefore disrespectful about all the other actors he mentions during the course of the interview.
