I have questions about the ride. It looks great! Probably handles amazing. I've been recommended koni yellows for dropping two inches, and with your lip and side skirts, how are speedbumps and driveways? Do you have to drive sideways?
@@justultrra3568 koni yellows? great shocks. as for my lip, on very steep inclines i have to drive the car up sideways. this is because there's like 3 feet of car in front of the axles and that makes the approach angle kinda bad. on something like an old civic or a miata, 2 in is no problem
Actually fun fact, the Miata took the engine from the 3, not the other way around. Mazda didn’t have a proper engine developed yet (that’s why it changed half way through)
i have an 18 mazda 3 2.5 manual, thing is impressive in all regards what it is, for what it can do it is impressive. mazdas infotainment system is awesome, easy to learn and use, plus "luxury" amenities at a price at Toyota
Did you drive it when stock? I have a 2014 Sedan that handles very well stock. Really need numbers to show the before and after improvement on the suspension mods.
I had horrible understeer before I modded mine, and all I did was add a strut tower bar to improve it just enough. Haven't done any aftermarket coil over mods yet, which is why I'm watching videos like this now, lol. I can confirm though, on windy, hilly backroads, and sharp down hill turns, a simple addition to rigidity does improve the handling.
I wonder how it feels in this 3rd Gen...Since the 3rd Gen wheelbase got stretched to 105.9-ish... vs. the 1st & 2nd Gens wheelbase is 103.4ish...My 1st Gen drives & Handles like a GoKart so I really love how my 1st Gen handles...
I’ve got a 1st gen 3. After a slight refresh in the suspension (replacing bearings and such with OE equivalent or better) And i love it. even from factory it handles amazing. unfortunately it was in an accident but i plan on buying a speed3 or another regular 3 sedan!
I upgraded to a BM from a BL. both were stock. The BM feels like a boat compared to the BL. It certainly has its perks, but the driving dynamics are different. still nice to drive, still a Mazda, but not the eager corner-taker.
I drive a 2014 MZ 3, and for Swiss roads, this shit goes hard. It only has stickier tyres and a shortshifter, but maaan that thing grabs on. On my "housetrack" I have pulled away from 325s and once I absolutely annihilated a C43 who was flooring it on the straights but had no balls to cut corners fast. So this is a huge plus in this little 1.3 tonne funbox. Im waiting for the Gen 3 turbokit and then Ill slap on a new bonnet with a scoop, en axleback corksport exhaust, some nice skidplates (because snow and icy roads in winter) nice new spoiler, a lowering kit, bigger brakes, new seats, strutbar, and maybe even remap it. Ive heard from a colleague of mine that there is a good chance that I'll make a decent 350 ish hp. Which is more than enough for such a light car. So yeah good little car with great mpg and soundwise. Even stock the coldstart in Switzerland is loud haha. When it froze over night (im parked in a garage btw) it still is loud. And when you floor it the engine has a very unique almost Honda ish Vtec sound. I dig it
Did you end up getting the turbo? Or maybe the supercharger? I'm getting the latter soon, always looking to get testimonials from other people upgrading the Mazda3.
I have Tein lowering springs and NC Miata oem 17x7 wheels (extremely light for factory cast wheels). As long as you're not expecting an M3, it's a pretty fun daily! I get 34mpg all day long with the 2.0 and manual transmission. All in all a really good for a car I paid $14k for certified used with 27k miles.
I just recently bought a 2016 used with 65k miles and this gives me hope lol. I don't wanna do anything too drastic because a big appeal to me buying this car was the fuel economy that's a lot better than my 2009 outback i had before this
@@KayleighYoung0 I think we may have a similar mindset. I bought my 3because I wanted something that was affordable to own and drive, but still be a pretty car that's fun to drive. Adding the ~$150 lowering springs, ~$175 used 07 MX-5 Miata wheels, and new ultra high performance all season tires has greatly improved the handling and braking. About $800-900 to make the car look and drive like a legit sports sedan. I personally won't spend too much more on it though, as no amount of mods will make it like the Civic Type R I'd like to upgrade to.
@@KayleighYoung0 lucky for you, there really are no mods available that would affect your mpg. That's because they're aren't any drivetrain mods available!!! Pity because I'd be happy to trade since MPGs for some more engine output
The 2.5 L has a really good acceleration for what it is. I own and daily drive one, and it does the basic acceleration I want with sport and manual mode.
This car with the 2.5 engine feels so much better performance wise... Throw in the Corksport Unicorn turbo kit for this model and you get the 3rd gen MAZDASPEED 3 we never got from Mazda.
Probably because the options are a crummy 2.0L, or a crummy 2.5L xD This gen didn't get any fast motors (doesn't need one imo) and its pretty easy to get the 2.5 power out of the 2.0 with an intake, exhaust, and tune keeping the overall price cheaper. The 2.0 also makes a nice daily with the better gas mileage. It also sounds better in my opinion having test driven both. Obviously you can build a 2.5 faster but it's really just a matter of how much dough you got. My 2.0 was $10k and the cheapest 2.5 in my area was unfortunately $14k with higher miles than the 2.0 I had purchased. I would've gotten the 2.5 if it was more attainable in the hatchback form around here, but I'm still pleased with my slightly slower (fractions of a second in 0-60 and quarter mile time) 2.0
I wouldn't recommend it. The geometry would be bad, you'll feel the new roll center position and you will hate it, especially if you have the sedan body. Further, you will have a really hard time finding springs that are LONGER and SOFTER than stock because people will usually be interested in improving road handling rather than increasing comfort or turning it into a rally car. Cheers

Hey is this an awd Mazda 3? and does it have turbo? i want to add the same mods but don’t know if we have the same Mazda 3 because I don’t have turbo or awd but was wondering if I should still add those mods?
If I'm not mistaken the 2019 was the first mazda 3 recently to have the turbo and and. The 2014 thru 2018 won't have either unless their was some special package
Not sure what you're on about with the infotainment system, It's one of the easiest to use systems out there.
I think he just comparing it competition. Too kmazda too long to update it
I agree. I've tried all of the compact cars and Mazda has the simplest one.
I have a 2015 mazda3 also and the infotainment is not good, I do not like it, think it looks dated and slow speed.
100% agreed my 2015 mazda3 infotainment is intuitive and quick. My mom's Mercedes infotainment is trash and makes me give up altogether sometimes
