    Don’t place the knob(s) or pulls where this installer put them. Place them toward the middle of the door where the bifold pulls toward you.

      Yeah. That instead lifts the door and over time could bend the door, effectively damaging it

      Ikr I hate when installers put the knob away from the middle of the door it only makes it harder to open the damn thing.

      Our flooring installer asked us to install a 1/2" wood block where the brackets will go. Do i make it just big enough that the bracket sits on top as these are somewhat hollow because of the pin that sits inside and im assuming the carpet will go over top the wood block and ill secure bracket over carpet

    This was a good video, much better than the written instructions BUT! You should not tap in the two pins that have springs! I did and both of them the springs no longer worked because the pins went through the bottom of the plastic pin holders. You should change your video to express how important "gentle" tapping is. I have found that putting pliers around the post where the spring is so you are just tapping the plastic holder into the pre drilled hole. The springs work well doing it this way. Thx

    After 10 minutes of horrific cursing and almost throwing the door through my window because I couldn't figure out how to get the top parts in, thank you Lord Jesus for @2:21 of this video. I have now successfully repaired my bifold door. I have a really old version that has a different lock on top that is a MAJOR pain in the ass to screw down...you'd think they would have made the lock down screw a little wider than the track but no, its about the same width so that if you screw too tight it will pop into the track and screw up everything.

    • @EatY0urTV
      @EatY0urTV 6 років тому +1

      when you pull the knob outwards, the center of the door moves outward, automatically opening the doors since the other edge of the doors are in a fixed position, but I personally prefer the knobs towards the opening side of the doors so it's more of a sliding action to open them versus pulling outwards

      @SStine-si2sm 3 місяці тому

      Ok, I figured out why it won’t work. I have two bi-fold doors and the plate that connects them doesn’t allow enough room. My solution was to snap it in a couple of inches beyond the joint of the tracks and then use a needle nose pliers opened up to the width of the plastic part. Then I tapped on the pliers to move it over into position.

      You don't need that bottom screw. But if you're dead-set on having it, there is a diamond bit that cuts tile. Then use a masonry bit for the pilot hole.

      Agreed. Not clear what the aligned is or why its needed. Why just the left door and not both?

    just bought two sets of the bifold doors. Seems like Jeld Wen is afraid of using glue, all four panels were delaminated.

    The top pivot pin has a rod with a spring that makes it seemingly impossible to tap into place. If we are supposed to be hitting that springed metal part to get the plastic sleeve to go into the hole, then I would not have described it as "gently tap." Why couldn't this video show the actual process of getting that darned piece into place.

      @@dropndeal Actually, when I switched from a light-weight hammer to a VERY heavy hammer, the pin went in smoothly. Conclusion: light taps don't get the job done.
