Story time: One time when I was like 9 years old, my grandpa (dad's side) took me to Books-a-Million. Now my grandparents on my dad's side were a bit stuck up compared to my parents or even my mom's parents. So I always felt kinda weird around them. Anyways, one would expect to buy books at Books-a-Million, right? Well the first thing I saw was this stupid fucking Guitar Hero Carabiner and I knew I had to have it. So I picked it up and was totally prepared for my grandpa to buy it for me. Well I went up to him in the store and he got really upset and disappointed about how I didn't pick out a book and got some dumb toy instead. So he made me put it back and get a book. Guess which book I picked out? I don't remember, but I'll always remember the Guitar Hero Carabiner that I could never have. Thanks for bringing that memory back up, Alec lmao
Whoever made the "...more like recorded in a bottle" remark is a comedic genius. That song was the only one I knew out if all do them. And is it just me or did Song 3 sound like Let the Bodies Hit the Floor in the beginning?
Well, it looks better than having the most awkward grip on your DS while swiping the touch screen, at least. The compressed songs don’t sound too bad either, if I’m being honest.
Y'know, honestly, for the tech at the time? This is pretty impressive. Multiple tracks, actual vocals, relatively playable? It's obviously scuffed but in a decent way.
DUDE i had one of these!! Used to play smoke on the water all the time while waiting for the bus! You bought it through the book catalogues that they offered in elementary school. 5th grade me was blessed and I didn’t even know it.
Okay, the team that crunched that audio down: good work, Message in a Bottle almost sounded decent. The team that charted the songs, though: are you certain you understand the concept of a "rhythm game"? Or "rhythm" in general? :) \m/
This is one of the videos on the internet! I can say with full confidence that I 100% experienced this! Absolutely one of the most existant videos I've ever seen.
GOOD GOD I FORGOT ABOUT THIS THING EVER EXISTED. I remember my cousin having one of these back then and I would go over and play it all the time. Then her mom got pissed a me claiming I broke it... which I did because I was too busy shredding Miserlou.
holy shit this is the first time i've seen one of these since I bought one at my school book fair when I was 10!!!!! this is an incredible blast from the past for me, I vividly remember message in a bottle on this thing.
Man I remember I got one of those when I was nine. Played it all the time when I was at my grandmas house. Why you hittin me with this nostalgia out of nowhere, Acai.
so sad to see so many people hate on these i rarely smile the way i did watching these video just a rush of memories man im getting one soon gotta go back to those simple times

i actually owned one of these when i was young. even back then i knew it was garbage, but it was kind of a blast from the past to see one again as i'd complete forgot they existed.
Dude I had this exact one when I was a kid, I think my friend bought it for me for my birthday when I was 10 or 11. So circa 2007-2008, I think I had it until recently.

Damn this sucked to read
@@acai28 In retrospect he was right this toy SUCKS
I mean you were obviously better off getting the book than this travesty of a toy.
Uh. What book did you pick out?

this is 100% a video, possibly the most video video on youtube.
It’s definitely up there on terms of being a video, for sure top 10 videos that are a video.

Isn't clone hero on android?
There was an old Guitar Hero game available few years back in Java

hi
I'd do it if someone gifts it to me
This how people under 6ft play clone hero
6ft: regular guitar
5'11: *this*
The difference between 6 foot and 5'12"
this comment made me laugh, thank you
I haven’t played clone hero because I don’t have a guitar controller or a working compatible PC to play it on
Did not think that was even real
Whoever made the "...more like recorded in a bottle" remark is a comedic genius. That song was the only one I knew out if all do them. And is it just me or did Song 3 sound like Let the Bodies Hit the Floor in the beginning?
“Recorded in a bottle” made me lose it omg

The one thing Harmonix wants to forget about
I feel really bad for the kids who got this for Christmas instead of the actual GH game because their grandma saw this at the store one day.

The hour this was uploaded, UA-cam went down. It’s your fault, Alec. Your fault
I had one of these when I was really young at Walmart! I always remember Heart Shaped Box on there this bring backs some major nostalgia!
this took me back to my early teen years, and not in a good way lol. Thank you for the throwback

*I still own one of these.*
I had this as a kid and then lost it in my grandpas truck for like 9 years but the NOSTALGIA IS REAL.
I had one of these as a kid, thought it was the coolest shit at the store and only played like 30 mins of it and never touched it again lmfao
I unironically had one of these as a kid and idk why I played it but I remember spamming smoke on the water
Weirdly enough, Jessica actually sounded ok.
All the song covers were put together with the finest lawn mower, jammed printer and chainsaw samples we could find!
I desperately want to know what the logic behind these charts was...
spamming but at the chart level
11:45 until now, I didn't know that Top Gear used this song as its intro. Wtf. How original.
My grandma got me one of those when I was 10 I’m 20 now I completely forgot about those til this video
I actually had one of these when I was way younger and I remember playing it on the bus ride to school all the time
All these “volume 1” vids never getting a follow up smh

:) fc a song on this
I loved that thing as a kid. I played it all the time, loved message in a bottle. Was so sad when I lost it.
11:54 i dont know wat "Jessica" is, for me is the Top Gear intro
I have this in my house somewhere and id love to play it again, might buy a new one. THE MEMORIES WERE REAL WHILE WATCHING THIS!!!!!!!
This is the most mad lad thing I have ever witnessed
and this is how i learned what the name of the top gear intro song was
Thank god we finally have a way to play guitar hero at home. Some true innovation here.
:)
Awh yes my uncle gave me one of these before he passed. I remember playing smoke on the water all the time. Ahh the good old days of nostalgia
2:26 it sounds like building something in a LEGO game
this awakened forgotten childhood memories, jesus

Got the one on the thumbnail when I was 9 still in good condition too. Use to love playing with it.
Now you truly are the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
i remember getting one of these from my bus driver the last day of school before winter break. i was probably like 8. good times with this toy
holy shit I had one of these as a kid, it went straight into the garbage and I thought I would never see or think about it again. here I am.
Oh shit I had this thing as a kid, what an incredible paperweight
The action is so intense, probably the most intense thing I ever witnessed
I got one of these things for christmas, like 10+ years ago

I HAD THIS AS A KID!!! totally forgot about this! the memories
The song Miserlou was originally spelt with an E.. they changed it after it was used on Pulp Fiction.
I remember trying to get that at the Book Fair at 2nd Grade.

That Killer Queen recording was taken directly from the stone age
I saw these at the cereal section when I was a kid and I wanted to get one. I'll just live the experience through this video though.
My brother and I each had one of these. Memories 🥺
