Gotta love Del!! When this album came out, I had it cranking one night, and my Siamese cat, Banjo, walked across the remote to the stereo and the thing went straight to NASHVILLE CATS!! Never will forget that!
Eye know the type. Marble Shootin' minded creatures. Every other one of the nine. All with names as long as mine. Don't look to the East none without lickin' their noses and oh my at the poses.
The A.C.L. special was the first time I saw Del and the boys and I was floored! Jaw dropping musicianship and tons of fun. It really made me into a bluegrass fan, rather than just a casual admirer. :)
Exactly!!!! This band performing this song is the ultimate show of respect and gives no greater a shout out than to do this song!!! For all the fools crying because Del McCoury didn’t specifically name drop Sebastian or thank him for writing the song don’t have a clue just what it means that Del is performing the tune at all. 💁♂️
Now that is the kind of pickin and grinnin I like That is country I would enjoy playing. It's not boring it's not depressing nobody lost their beer or girlfriend and it's upbeat.
I discovered these guys a few years back when they did an album with Steve Earle (The Mountain). Then they did another one I liked with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. But, this is great. I bet it makes John Sebastion is proud
I saw y’all at the Farm in Beaver, Arkansas, and they put on one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. I saw them at The Grand Ole Opry with Steve Earle, and that was the best bluegrass show I’ve ever seen.
Check out The Earls of Lester today. They are like a Scruggs and Flatt tribute band with some monsters playin'. Shawn Camp (of Guy Clark fame) singing up front. Woo hoo.
There should be "reply" between, Like and Dislike. This band does a exemplary cover of the original... The Lovin' Spoonful w/ John Sebastian, lead singer, songwriter and musician. He wrote this song and preformed it in 1966. The original is a folksy/ country/ rocky?/signature style of John Sebastian. When you almost yodel and pick it out, it reminds me of Minnie Pearl / Chet Atkins. There were the best. However, when you have a frenetic pace to this song, it completing changes the intended impact/ feeling that the composer was conveying.
You "don't know",,, but insist someone else is wrong? Sebastian wrote the song, Flatt and Scruggs turned it into a bluegrass standard and recorded it after Spoonful's version. It is attributed to Sebastian on their album.
Funny, I'm not too nuts about the style of the mandolin, fiddle, and banjo playing, but I can't argue against the fact that it works. I'd sure like to get to go to one of Del's concerts.
If you listen to the Lovin Spoonfuls original recording, the pay tribute to the “Nashville Cats” by pronouncing It “Naishville” like a Tennesseean would.
Amazing band and True Gentlemen. When true music 🎵 was there. Nashville cats is a legendary song for sure
my dad used to sing me this song when we drove in the car in the 70's ..great memories :)
this was an old Loving Spoonful tune and loved them Nashville CATS and all the studio musicians
What a good old John Sebastian tune this is!
Amen! Love this song!!!
Gotta love Del!!
When this album came out, I had it cranking one night, and my Siamese cat, Banjo, walked across the remote to the stereo and the thing went straight to NASHVILLE CATS!! Never will forget that!
That is awesome!!! My cat, Devil Kat, always chilllllls when I play this - and kind of smiles.😊😁

Gotta say, this is an INCREDIBLE performance for being live. A ton of instrumental and vocal skill all perfectly mixed together.

I accidentally ran across this episode when it aired. Their sound hit me in the face and I've been a fan ever since.

LOVE MAH DEL MCCOURY!!!!! And his wonderful band/family!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
My favorite bluegrass singer is Del.
They not only have to play and sing in harmony...they have to move about each other . ..good footwork too .
The A.C.L. special was the first time I saw Del and the boys and I was floored! Jaw dropping musicianship and tons of fun. It really made me into a bluegrass fan, rather than just a casual admirer. :)
The Lovin' Spoonful's version was a tribute to guys like the folks in this band.
Yep. Del McCoury is the real deal!
John Sebastian stumbled across Danny Gatton playing in a pretty empty hotel bar in Nashville before their sold out show.
The "story": ua-cam.com/video/_u7sB_kMMNE/v-deo.html
Yeah the LSF's song is amazing. A bunch of 1960's hippies laying down the country blue grass. Was epic.
Exactly!!!! This band performing this song is the ultimate show of respect and gives no greater a shout out than to do this song!!!
For all the fools crying because Del McCoury didn’t specifically name drop Sebastian or thank him for writing the song don’t have a clue just what it means that Del is performing the tune at all. 💁♂️
amazing rendition!!
Amazing how this tune gets around! Fantastic rendition!
That's some righteous banjo pickin' by Rob McCoury
Now that is the kind of pickin and grinnin I like That is country I would enjoy playing. It's not boring it's not depressing nobody lost their beer or girlfriend and it's upbeat.

Never heard harmonies better than this.
Jason Carter is a damn good fiddle player
and as the band does its wonderful instrumental windup at 3:31 the crowd loves his surprise slap at 3:37
That's an understatement! :-)
Wow... That was awesome.
One of my favorites.
Nobody could top this version.
I discovered these guys a few years back when they did an album with Steve Earle (The Mountain). Then they did another one I liked with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
But, this is great. I bet it makes John Sebastion is proud
Excellent, thanks Del.
Man,Where would we be without Austin City Limits? No”Cliffs of Dover” Eric Johnson, performances like this.
I saw y’all at the Farm in Beaver, Arkansas, and they put on one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. I saw them at The Grand Ole Opry with Steve Earle, and that was the best bluegrass show I’ve ever seen.

One awesome bluegrass band
I've seen them many times and they never disappoint - best in bluegrass in my humble opinion (and very personable and friendly with their fans)
Real deal good ole boys
Del is the man!
Perfection is a genre unto itself.
MAGIC!!!!!
I remember Del McCoury's song Loneliness & Desperation from one of my Carmen Sandiego games & that song from Kidsongs.
Ol' Del and the boys do a mighty fine job, Yep!
Ah those cat's ❤
@RedneckDrow1991 Flatt & Scuggs sang it in 1967. The Lovin' Spoonful sang it first, it's their song.
great one!
Oh yeah, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, guitar, harmony ~ :)
Just another FINE example of this band...WONDER who the 2 dislikes could be? Beats me how anybody could NOT like it...
Beautiful harmony. Gives me chills every time I hear it
Great!
Blue grass pickers are great!
it would have been nice if they'd have given credit to the writer and originators of this song. John Sebastian and the Lovin' Spoonful 1966.
Del Yeah! :)
Oh yeah!!
Rob is the Man.
Del is the punk music of bluegrass
thumbs up indeed
Check out The Earls of Lester today. They are like a Scruggs and Flatt tribute band with some monsters playin'. Shawn Camp (of Guy Clark fame) singing up front. Woo hoo.

I agree with Virginialogging completely.

Great cover of John Sebastian’s song.
