Wang Fuman, who in 2018 became known as China’s “ice boy”, has seen a steady improvement in the quality of life for himself and his family. Not only do they have a new home and are raising livestock, but Fuman and his sister have also formed a long-distance friendship with children in the US. The families are now using mobile phones for regular language exchange chats.

Yes I agree 100%. I really hope we keep seeing updates with this family on a regular basis. This is the third update I have seen with this family and I really enjoy seeing the progress of the young boy and girl. I hope to see MANY more updates throughout the upcoming years.

The contrast between the grandma who says she lives in the old house alone with the leaky roof and then the mum (who abandoned her family until they got famous) beaming with a smile and singing in the next scene makes me sick. The grandma is so selfless and it's amazing that she holds no resentment and still helps them out.

Seems like the parents have been bitter with each other for a long time now. They should really listen to their kids advice and become better.
Usually that maturity comes from trauma.
I think the grandmom and the uncle of the child also deserves a part of donation bcs they are also suffering from poverty .

I bet she gave the mom that black eye 😂 She should get some money from donations too. I mean she or the family or what not was living off of 95 cents a day so why would she have to work at her age.
In chinese culture, most old people tend to stay in the house where they grew up or lived most of their lives in. I know this because my dad is old himself and no matter what kind of luxury hotel or accommodation he is being offered he would just go back to our house. He feels more comfortable there and that's where his work is :)
She deserves it, but remember how she has like a potato field? She can’t bring that with her. And if she leaves it behind, there won’t be anyone tending the field. Besides, she won’t even make money at the settlement because there’s no work there for her.
Ikr. All those other people get phones and things like that. Maybe she should get someone to fix up the house.
This kid is such an inspiration. And to the family from the U.S. to help him and his family is really selfless of them. We need more stories like this.

You can’t just assume she returned because they all of a sudden got money and she left just because they had no money. But even if that was the case I’m sure it’s more normal for people in poverty. People are saying they wish they had a fundraiser for gran and the uncle, stop wishing and actually do something, all their social media’s (South China Morning Post) are in the description, contact them in any way possible through Twitter, Instagram or whatever and ask them to set it up. I don’t ask for likes but it would be appreciated to get this comment noticed. Email them if you can. A lot of messages on the same topic, hundreds maybe, has to get noticed.
Even something like “Can you set up a fundraiser for the uncle and grandma in relationship to the new “Ice Boy” Film that you posted on your UA-cam?” Will do, it doesn’t have to be super long.
Edit: People are saying that the Chinese government will just end up splitting the money. Well them getting a small amount of money is better than them getting nothing.

Since the family is trying to help get internet and a computer for them. Then all they would need is a camera or a smartphone to do videos. Nowadays that’s all it takes. The kids are smart and I know they will be able to catch on quickly. As we all would probably pitch in to show them some pointers.
Now how do we get in contact with the family?
If that happen, they can start by creating Douyin (TikTok) or Kuaishou account to create daily vlog of their life.
Those apps also able to produce Yuan.

Their relationship wasn’t like that till the wife broke it herself. The wife left the kids and the father to fend for themselves because the dad was too poor. She came back only when she saw cameras were on her kids. She came back for something. But it wasn’t her husband and it wasn’t her kids.

He has 11 childrens and each of them is pretty successful, yet my grandfather wouldn't take a penny out of his children. He still wake up 5 am, go to the farm, run his shop, take care of the pigs, all by himself

You do realise it's in women nature to be like that??? Women love their kids more than the dad. Whilst she was away she probably worked to make money and then came back. Women in their periods become emotional and have random mood swings. It's only natural for her to get upset and blame it on the father for being poor. Since it's been I assume over 5 years she has to put up with it. Put your self in their shoes then talk. Don't judge. Also she is being strict on the kids to give them a better future. If you've been up to date with the videos you can see that she is a young mom and she started off hitting then trying to control her rage, the kids even said it.

They weren't left out. The grandmother wanted to live in the old house because that's where she can work. The new house though better has no jobs for those who arent educated and are older. Thats why she went back. They wven offered for her to stay with them and she chose not to. The uncle wanted to help make more money so he chose to go to the city and work. But they all are still living in poverty. They just have been able to get get some livestock now.

I’m chinese, the grandma wasn’t really trying to avoid her, she was trying to be polite. Chinese people are aggressively polite a lot of times. They quarrel and bargain so they won’t be a burden on other people

Dont be so naive. That lady is not the one dealing with them everyday. Everyone has flaws, but its easier to see those flaws when you actually live with each other. Mom's always say things they dont mean, but the fact is shes the one who carried them for 9 months and raised them even in dire situation, so she deserves respect just like any mother..

The father seems to be a hard worker who is interested in taking advantage of the opportunity to work on the home/farm. The mom seems like she had kids and got married WAY too young and this will likely impact her behavior for the rest of her life unless she gets some kind of therapy/support.

Yes, it may very well be true that the parents got married very young. As in many Asian cultures today, people in more rural regions still follow custom, and get married starting at 14 years of age or even younger.

There has to be some understanding for the mother. She is also dealing with unresolved trauma from her life. Hurt people hurt people and she never had the opportunity to resolve what is probably generational trauma. It’s easy to judge someone far away- but she undoubtedly lived a life so far basically none of us can truly relate with. Nothing can negate the bad that she is doing or has done but there has to be some understanding of the chain of events that brought about her actions.

I think people in the comments are being too harsh on her. Of course, I don’t know her, but there seem to be genuine things she’s saying, and I think she just has issues we can’t see. My fiancee grew up in rural Shaanxi and had some very similar experiences as a kid, poverty was a big problem, especially at that time. She would go back and forth to school once a week, because it was at least an hour a way, all while carrying all her food and rice for the week which were prepared for her by her aunt as her parents were in the cities working in factories and construction. I had the opportunity to spend time with her family in her home town this Chinese New year, and I've never met such honest, hardworking, lovely people. China has grown so much since she was a kid, but there will always be poverty. I hope in the future I might help kids in the Chinese countryside with their educations, and help them pursue opportunities that will improve their families lives.
Dad is doing amazingly well raising a family and keeping his cool given the circumstances. I couldn't imagine having that kind of responsibility

@@LvngBrd I remember when I was young, 'access' to education was the mantra for world change. Yet, now basically everyone has access and nothing happened. Access doesn't change motivation, that's why you or I don't have our PhD in any topic and we don't spend our free time watching MIT's, or other universities freely accessible courses.
It's a nice gesture of course. But to do all those things, a nice cell phone with a monthly service would be more useful for making friends.
The computer will be restricted by internet access, and who will provide that? Then to reach the outside world, who will install and provide the VPN?
The western world seems to think the best way to help this family is to provide a computer, it's very 'western' thinking, but it's limited thinking.
@@neepers english is the most global of languages and therefore vital to learn for anyone in a country where it isn't the native language. there's always a demand for workers who speak it well, so it'll set the kids up for better job opportunities in life.

There's alot of sadness looking at their dad's eyes and face. The mom however, looks like she actually yearns for some kind of freedom. Well then again. Who am I to judge not knowing the full story of their lives. Pity the dad, grandma and uncle tbh. Hopefully they will live on and fight strong. Not sure how old is these kids parents, but they look a tad young, and I feel like they too deserve some kind of basic education, including their uncle.

The children seem to be more mature than their parents. I like how the daughter is very honest about her mother. I’m not sure if the mother will stay with her children because doesn’t seem to be happy with her husband even though financially things are better. That woman needs to leave. She is the toxic one in the whole family that probably controls the husband and the kids. She cares for herself only. Also probably the reason the grandparents don't live with them. Just because the kids are biological to the mom doesn't mean they have to suffer through her, its always better to get away from toxicity.

For everyone who wants to judge the mom as a gold digger- you have to realize their situation is not that simple. The parents had relationship problems too.
Also, it’s absolutely none of OUR places to judge THEM. I mean they lived in poverty and used to (or still do) struggled possibly week to week getting food. We live in nice houses with easy access to education and don’t have to worry about our basic needs. I personally don’t believe we, sitting in a place of extreme privilege, can say anything about how bad of a person she is.
