Excellent tutorial. Voice is very calm and relaxing. The video is also very good. It captures the stitches perfectly. Thank you.

I have made two of these particular types of potholders already, but had to guess about a couple of aspects the people doing the tutorials did not explain. Thank You for explaining everything so clearly and slowly to begin with. The final product is lovely, and looks super thick. I used the Whip Stitch on mine, but feel the Mattress Stitch will be much easier, and look better, especially when using variegated yarns.

Thanks for the great pattern I have 8/8 yarn so would it still be a 4mm hook? So glad to see this potholder pattern that is modern also 😊

      Great. I think it’s easier with 8/8 👍 Yes 4 mm hook 😊

You wrap the yarn before you insert hook, then you yarn over the rest of your stitches. Do you mean to wrap yarn around in opposite directions? If so why? I’m new to crocheting and have see videos saying to only yarn over. I’m confused. I appreciate any responses! Thank you

I single crochet all the way. So we dont yarn over before inserting the needle. If I do that at some point, it’s a mistake. Just insert the hook, yarn over, pull through, yarn over and pull through all.
I do not mean to do it in opposite directions. It’s a bad habbit i cant seem to get rid of. But Im trying 😝 It doesnt make much of a difference if you are consistent. I think these potholders are beautiful even though I sometimes wrap the yarn in the opposite directions😊
      Thank you for asking 🥰

What is an 8/4 or 8/8 yarn? I would love to make this!

It is 100% cotton. An 8/8 yarn has the same size as a medium weight 4 and 8/4 is half the size if that.😊

My sides are bowed out and not straight. What did I do wrong?

How would you add a loop for hanging if you want one?

I would chain 15, turn and do a slip stitch in each chain and then sew it in the corner ❤️👍

Very easy to understanding instructions and nice project. However, Japanese translation was done by someone who doesn't know anything about crochet and correct Japanese words. It didn't make any sense. Please take off the translation part or get it done by someone else who is profesioanal translator. Thank you.

If the light color was worked first a beginner would have been able to see how to work the mattress stitch. Not clear instructions for a beginner. I would have been frustrated had I been a beginner.
