Beyoncé produced an album & a film separate from the Lion King remake. The only song featured in the remake was Spirit. But Beyoncé’s Black is King film is streaming on Disney+. The Gift album is streaming everywhere.

Hmmm look here I’m a bit Beyoncé fan but however I think they doing too much to prove they pro black. Blackness doesn’t have to be proved we are black, just be black. But production was nice.

I interpret their bodies of work as a celebration of all things black. They embraced everything about being black even before Black Is King. Here She intentionally showcased the various African cultures. I love it because traditionally, whiteness or proximity to it, has been force fed as the standard but B & Jay use their art, money, and massive celebrity platform to tell the world how proud they are of their heritage while employing and showcasing so many African trades folks and artists. I like the spotlight and exposure they bring to people and things that’d otherwise go undiscovered by people outside of Africa or the specific countries from which they come. For example, I’d literally never heard of Shatta Wale until her Already song/video. Now I buy his music and other African artists I discovered like him.
