While I do like both aircraft, I prefer the Ka-50. Mostly because of the challenge and satisfaction of mastering it. Being single-seat, it's all down to you. Success or failure is solely down to your flying abilities and mastery of the systems, it doesn't hold your hand but it gives you everything you need. A good pilot can do astonishing things with the Black Shark.
From a more practical perspective the Ka-50 does have certain advantages despite the technology being older (not really being night capable is the only major downside). The 2A42 cannon is *waaay* better than the M230 and is actually useful against a capable enemy with its longer range, the Apache cannon's effective range could best be described as *uncomfortably close*. The Ka-50's Survivability is better with the heavy armour, ejection seat, and lack of a vulnerable tail rotor. It's easier to fly on account of the coaxial layout and automation, whereas the Apache is very demanding and it took me a long time to get a grip on it. Also the Apache is kinda slow.
Aesthetically I think the Ka-50 looks better, but that's purely a matter of taste.

@@Mr66D an extremely well worded take! I’ve only trialed the ka50 but have found little success due to fighting the plane and very bad attempts to hover. Thank you for your explanation!

I've been flying the shark on and off for 10 years and I still learned a lot.
