It's the 1000 Subscriber Special! And the Target for Tonight is Essen. This video has been brightened considerably in the edit to eliminate the worst of youtube's compression sillybuggers, it was darker for me when I actually flew it (though less fuzzy). Great video!
Could you make video where you explain how do you navigate with rsbn in these kind of missions, thanks!
Another day in the office.
Another banger man!!! 💪🏻🔥
Your channel is criminally underrated. Some of my favorite DCS videos. I like how you use a lot of Russian equipment and use them in a realistic way.
I totally agree with you. The way he plans his videos, the briefing, everything Is on point. So good 👌
Def make more Russian videos with more different Russian jets
Excellent! As a Bomber/CAS/Battle(Schlacht...) main pilot - I will enjoy this :)
What are your PC Specs?
Great one
Are you using track ir?
Yes
Even though this is three years old, I absolutely love how you integrated the music in with this. Well done!
those 2 He111 😂,...in my Ju52 Moscow playthrough,i first had settings for german air superiority, and always had 8 109's escorting me.On my way back they always crashed in three's.Didnt get to see how,but events log always showed 3 down (sometimes mid return trip, sometimes near landing). So that must be some real ballet flying to always end up in 3 crashed.Doesent seem to happen now with 6 escorting me.
Great mod. I really want an English Channel map for a battle of britain scenario
I like your series and have subscribed. One comment at the beginning: your voice is so quiet that I have to turn the volume up to 11. You get louder during the game. Why is that?
It's possible that I adjusted the settings at some point but I really don't remember.
As far as I know, the A 20 had a crew of three (pilot, bombardier, rear gunner). So, waiting for a fourth chute is in vain.
Yup
sweet mission! your course corrections were really interesting & not boring ;) I'm interested to see what youre coming up with next :D Oh and of course congrats to your 1000 + subs :D
Shouldn't there be more searchlights on the route to the target i e. Dutch coast etc?
Probably, I did encounter more on the mission I flew to prepare for this one (a leaflet mission over France), I encountered searchlights and flak over every major city right from the coast. This mission's route does a pretty good job of avoiding population centres so that might be why.
To that Russian fighter pilot: If you survived the collision, next time, I recommend Vodka only AFTER your mission, not before it!
First of all, congrats on reaching 1,000 subscribers - quite the milestone! This was a great video (even if YT rendered it so dark). Hope to see more! Does the mod include the Luftwaffe night fighters and you were just lucky not to see one or was this a little too early for them?
B.A.T. definitely has them but I don't know if they're included in any of the campaign missions. I think the AI might have some issues with night fighting which Fishyyy and co. are trying to sort out with the zonk mod.
Avro Lancaster? At night? Wow! I am glad you are not a drunk driver (as far as I know).
Only a cup of tea and some raw carrots for this trip!
@@Mr66D Yeah. It is a good idea to have the booze and tartar steak only AFTER the mission.
def deserved more likes
Have been greatly enjoying your adventures, esp all of the bombing and nav dtls in the He-111 series. Query: Lanc start-up began w/Engine One, which was outer port; I've only seen American heavies start-up, and they all used inner starboard engine, - Engine Three, I'm guessing - bc, iirc, that was the only one with a battery; then used that generator to start the other three. Were British manufactured heavies different or was this simply the sim? Thanks in advance. Really looking fwd to these!
To be honest I didn't put any thought into the start order whatsoever, but in real life the start order seems to be 3-4-2-1. The Pilot's Notes for the Lancaster don't specify a start order but the engineer's notes might, I haven't found anywhere to read the latter yet.
@@Mr66D Thx for detailed reply; that does indeed seem to sync with what I remembered. Flying these big machines in these missions have been quite enjoyable: much more of the slice of life than the typical shoot-em-up fighter ones that everyone seems to post.
@@BasmatiJones Perhaps I can carve out a bomber niche then. I do like flying fighters but mostly in multiplayer, smacking the AI around in singleplayer isn't that interesting most of the time.
love your vids
I can now watch your nighttime raids and TaffinExile’s B-17 daylight raids! Awesome work! Thanks for putting these videos up.
😂😂 that accent 😂😂😂
Congrats on the literal milestone here! and thanks a lot.
Did not know you could fly a Lancaster, need to get this now! great vid man congrats on the 1K subs:)
Lancaster almost certainly is not as easy to fly as the He-111 he usually pilots.
Congrats for you 1K subs! Unfortunately the youtube darkness compression make the vid look like 480p quality. I was wondering if you have a discord or something for playing IL-2 great battles? I would love to fly with a fellow Canuck.
The compression was a bugger to deal with, it took a bunch of tests and revisions just to get something half way watchable. I don't have a discord (since that sound's suspiciously like effort), but I'm active on Wolfpack and Enigma's servers.
Well I see you got a new plane...
What happened a lot of the time was that RAF bomber crews would dump some of their bombs over the water, so they could fly higher and faster over Germany.
I believe you have the journey switched, RAF crews returning home would jettison their bombs in desginated jettison zones so that they could land safely without extra weight.
@@berenhamilton3321 Nope, it happened on the way there to get rid of weight. Read 'The Berlin Raids' by Martin Middlebrook for a good idea of the fear and casualties experienced by RAF Bomber Command. It was a brutal and random war. and higher casualties are almost always among the lower and slower aircraft, like Stirlings and Halifaxes. When they did not take part, the number of early returns for 'mechanical faults' for the Lancs noticeably increased.
How about Pe-2
Definitely on the list
I thoroughly enjoyed this series - I had a bad feeling about this one since you were going pretty deep into enemy territory and the Russians appeared to have woken from their slumber in the last couple of missions. Looking forward to some more WWII content in the near future.
Banzai Comrade!
Have to say, I have been watching a lot of IL2 videos lately (mostly fighters) but this series got me hooked on bombers. Excellent job and sad to see the career cut short, but such is life so to speak. Would love to see the AR 234 Blitz bomber take to the air.
I didn't really give the Ar 234 a second thought for a long time, but now that I realize it has some more systems depth than most IL-2 aircraft it has grabbed my interest a bit. One of these days I'll get trained up in it.
Didn't know the Russians employed ramming attacks @ that stage of ze eastern campaign, i know they did during the desperate days of 1941!
Would love a Handley page Halifax Canadian sqdn career on IL 46 if possible.
An intriguing idea, though I'm not sure if there are any campaigns available for the Halifax. That being said you'll probably like what's coming this Friday 😉
We will miss you, August! Absolutely enjoyed all of the navigation activities and information. Will l@@k fwd to future adventures, especially as a bomber crew.
Very much enjoyed this series! Your skills make for good immersion. Hope you do lots more WWII content!
Thank you sir! There will definitely be more in the future.
"War is a Dangerous Hobby" <great mission! looking forward to your new series!>
Great series! I enjoyed all watching all of these missions.
Wow shit. I think collisions shouldn't be counted in Ironman... u should continue .
I'd like to express my condolences on your loss. I'd also like to express my doubts about a hit that far on the wing being likely to cause a pilot death. Even with fuel tank on the wing getting ruptured. But simulation is what it is.
It might be a bit dubious, though a crew would realistically have a tough time bailing out of an aircraft in that state so we might have been buggered either way.
Loved the series. Looking forward to the career in 1946. Blenheim or Wellington maybe?
Great series
Man I love these videos. A nice alternative to 20 sec short attention span - videos.
I shall rescue the human attention span from the algorithm with maps and whiz wheels!
Well hell of a way to go time to switch to Ju 88 or Stuka
The next career won't be German, but I'll probably get around to the 88 at some point.
Rip August, also didn't you shoot down a La-5 earlier in the series so it would have been 2 kills?
...Yes it should, IL-2 is a bit funny about how it attributes kills in collisions so it probably has something to do with that.
great series love this . great job
That was some heavy interception. Wonder if your escorts were sleeping or just overwhelmed, as it seemed like there was more than one flight of enemies. Pity there is no info on enemies killed by the escorts. You were going over 260 and set the bombsight to 250, so hitting too far was somewhat a given. On a positive note, there wasn't enough friendlies alive on landing to kill one another! Not sure how it works in this game, but I've seen, that on the dorsal turret of the 111 you can push the canopy way ahead and the gimble the gun is attached to gains better arc that way, it basically rotates around even. Not sure if that's only a case for certain models of 111 and whether it's even simulated in the game. I wonder if that was Bismarck's video where he was climbing around the He 111... Also might have just been a fever dream, who knows...
I'm gonna chalk up the bombing error to my brain being saturated by the action. As for how the fighters got through, they attacked from above and the Yak-1b and Yak-9 are faster than our 109s so they would've been able to make at least one clean pass before the 109s got stuck in. That and there might have been enough of them to keep the 109s busy and attack my bombers at the same time, I didn't get a clear idea of how many there were.
I think I got whiplash with this one after the last couple with less action. But it certainly was exciting! Another great episode. Keep up the good work.
I enjoy all of the mission flight details and engine management; too many "sims" get so simplified that they are more of an arcade game. Thanks for a great series.
Aye, IL-2 strikes a pretty good balance when it comes to that. Though I do wish bombsights were less simplified.
