They return to a hatchery and there isn’t enough places for them to spawn if they don’t make it back into the hatchery capture, so many end up dying without spawning and the bears squeeze out the eggs and lap them up. That bear was just bad at picking them and chose males instead of females. You could tell he was a little disappointed in his selection
agree. last week is a sure thing. 3rd week...maybe good, could be nothing. Another thing to consider is mid Aug still has a bazillion pinks swimming in front of you. These silvers (and pinks) are chasing lures all day long If you're there strictly there to load up on fish, and not to enjoy the tourist things or the silver derby, the days before labour day can be the best. No crowds at all, absolutely no pinks in the way, tons of silvers left. You'll see them swimming up and down the shoreline. By this time, nearly all silvers are completely ignoring the lures, you need to snag them out which is a skill in itself..
Hahaha nice silvers! need to have a word with the net guy! That was crazy. Glad i found this channel thanx to the outdoor boys!
I love watching your adventures in such a beautiful state.
I love your family! Great family adventure!!
Great video. is fishing in late July great too?

Is this from 2021. Silvers can’t be in already in Valdez it’s only may lol. I was there last yr august 30 raining but warm and fun
Yep
Great video. Those pink salmon did they spawn already and just waiting to die or eaten by a bear?

Do they ever swoop up the post-spawn pinks for fertilizer? Ya gotta think some of those wasted fish would be good for something like that
They would but the legality with bag limits and such might be a grey area
Love from Turkey. I have a couple of questions guys. Why are all those salmons got together and all those fish at the seaside dead?
They are returning to spawn, and then they all die afterwards. It’s all part of their life cycle
So, it is not OK to pick them because soon they are going to die?
You can pick them up but they smell bad because their bodies are literally rotting while they are still alive… but that is natural for them
What time of year was this? Thanks!
late august
Great video. Could you recommend some dates for good silver fishing in Valdez? Thanks
last 2 weeks of August/First week of September are usually the best

Hi! Our daughter and family live in Valdez. Can you DM me that camping location? It looks really nice
UA-cam doesn’t have dm, but the campground is out past the airport
No body ever says what month it is
august
Love the pink salmon can you send me some
why the fish so much are dead por salmons
The salmon die after spawning, it’s a normal part of their life cycle.
Sounds fishy
