The Godfather of Hip-Hop. While having nothing to do with the culture he shaped the outcome of and and inadvertently helped make the sound we know today possible
Though I got a lot of respect for Roger Linn but hip hop was up and running Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before the MPC 60 dropped! The MPC 60 dropped in 1988! Hip hop pre dates it BY A DECADE! If anything, most sample based producers were using the SP-1200. Hip hop culture started in the late 1970's btw.
The Godfather of Hip Hop is James Brown....hands down. The MPC is a major contributor to where hip hop was going but again , the foundation was already created by Brown
The first UA-cam sampling tutorial. Came before UA-cam came out. If you ever sampled a song you need to thank this man!!! I'm not even that much of an MPC guy but this man right here? Would you say he's the Abraham of hip hop?
I wonder if Rodger Linn understood what a beast he was releasing into the musical world.
if he entered the room wearing a smoking jacket and holding a martini this vid would be on a another level
Lol
I was there when this was shot (I was with Akai then). They built an entire room on the set just for Roger to walk away into the main room.
What year was this? Just curious to know if you don’t mind.
@@Guitarist888 The MPC60 came out in '88. The video definitely has that late 80's look!
any chance to get a better quality copy of this tape?

Yeah you can do 1/4, 1/16, 1/32 or OFF, which is the best setting and find a good swing setting you like. Nothing beats the 60 swing it's funky af.
