Akai MPC60 VHS training video featuring Roger Linn Section 1: Introduction
I’ve got 99 tracks of keyboard information but a £&@? ain’t one
This guy looks like he should be giving you missions in Vice City
this looks like a scene out of the original Robocop
How do you turn the ploy on and off in the unit 60 mk2
Thank you Billy
Is Billy still around?
The birth of real hiphop
Most of these instructions are even good for the newer MPCs like the Live, given that you can visualize the old interface through the new one.
They had made many series of the fairlight
RattPack, where you at! Doin' DOHNUTS out back
Logic
Sounds like Aphex Twin's Windowlicker!
I don't know why I am here but I love the nostalgia
This is 🔥🔥
Looks like 80s porno set.
I buy your CMI if you sell it best regards Magnus amedia@hotmail.com
What year?
great video. Thanks for sharing ! I could listen to Roger talk for ours. The highlight is the premiere of the note repeat feature . Minds blown back in the 80s!
Bless u, Roger Linn.
His voice is so soothing
So I'm guessing the floppy disks were the sample packs
The echo mixer is brilliant. Wow.
The multi velocity note repeat hi-hat recording must’ve blown people’s minds
Channel 16 as the default midi channel for drums? I remember that channel 10 was the standard channel at the time. At least for Roland, in for example the D-10 that was around at the time of the video (probably in the earlier MT-32 too). And Roland later developed GM/GS too(with the Sound Canvas), so they were important when it came to enforcing midi standards. And in GM, channel 10 WAS and still is the default channel. I
I was thinking the exact same. Selling channel 16 as the defacto drum standard.seemed very bold, but Roger doesn’t need to care for standards, he creates them ! 😃
@@DemMuselTrue! Yeah, he "only" created the drum machine and pattern based sequencing with it! Maybe that channel 10 default drum channel thing hadn't settled "enough" at the time when he still was developing it?
How does one question Roger Linn?
So Roger had to use "Sideshow Bob" to play the keyboard parts! :)
Where is that sample from?
Little did he know that 2Pac and Biggie would be killed because of his machine.
?????????? Explain
Nice job billy
Anyway that I can get this on vhs myself?!
The mid to end '80s where still quite civilized times. People still wore ties, and there were not too many beards, and even scarcely there were any tattoos. Although the earrings in men, already started, albeit no nose rings were popular. Nowadays, civilization seems to have totally collapsed.
😂😂😂😂
The Sequence #1 is actually quite good.
I wonder if Rodger Linn understood what a beast he was releasing into the musical world.
ahead of its time
The intentions were not as we know them today..
Please give me the full name of this Billy. I really liked his music. Now I want to know more about him
I dreamt about it when young but it would still be a great machine to use today. That breathy sound!
I get the feeling that the Fairlight, like the Synclavier, would be very efficient to use once you wrapped your head around some key shortcuts. They're like the Unix of the music world.
I've been toying about with a recreation of the CMI environment called QasarBeach - it's definitely complicated at first and feels like you're using an old Terminal more than a music production system, but I'm slowly getting used to it and it really is quite well organised once you know what button does what thing.
@@benanderson89 that's awesome, I was unaware of the existence of QasarBeach. It looks bang on like the Fairlight interface.
Hasta el 9:30 toca el Drum,
Help us from heaven getting song mode on the force please
Great video. How do you have a mouse on your IIx ?
That’s a USB mouse to lightpen adapter that was build by Joe Britt. You can read more about it on my archived blog: web.archive.org/web/20120127055451/dvdborn.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
@@dvdborn Thank you very much. I will have a look.
A legend in his own room! Hahaha
Brilliant!!! Don't tell anyone!
Absolutely great.Please more of this.
Wow! great! Similar to what can be done with the Akai S612.
Awesome, David!
Excellent! I'll have to play with a similar idea :D Thanks for the clip David!
I love it !! great fun ! :) and yes ... 1982.. incredible . I like the txt additions too.. more please !
