FR. AUGUSTUS TOLTON CAUSE FOR SAINTHOOD

The Archdiocese of Chicago completed the diocesan phase of the investigation into the life and virtues of Father Augustus Tolton with a ceremony in St. James Chapel on Sept. 29, 2014. Documents supporting sainthood for Fr. Tolton were bound with red-ribbon and officially stamped with the seal of the Archdiocese in melted wax, to be dispatched to the Congregation for Causes of Saints at the Vatican.

What a beautiful thing it is to witness a Cardinal-Archbishop of the Catholic Church put his pen to the papers elevating this humble Servant of God on his way to sainthood. Slave to Priest; Priest to Saint. Beautiful! What a great day for the Catholic Church!
