Continue to protest against support for the israeli military (as in the case of the supplies shipment from California to israel that was blocked by muslim and dockworker protesters, continue those types of delays of that support ; and other forms of protest like the 'Uncommitted Delegates' voting during the primaries). And also make sure the republicans aren't voted in (probably by voting for the Democratic party in november). We can do both. Over 66% of the US prefers the democratic party over the republican party but not everyone votes. Get out there and vote ( it's our most basic line of defense ) and after that, keep pushing for a better America.

It breaks my heart that there are many people in my own life who are willing to shrug and say “I don’t care” and not vote or take any action at all, even if only because the world’s issues don’t effect them *yet*.
I would ask further: not caring per se or not caring because there's nothing they can do about it. Our system is set up such that our daily concerns consume all our time (and whatever time left over is for ...consumption), so there isn't any time or energy left to _actionably_ care.
Yo the world's issues are affecting everyone. Lots of people are upset that we aren't being represented and politicians are flat-out liars. How are we supposed to be informed voters when all our representatives are liars with a greater interest in money?
While I'm not sure how the US system works: in The Netherlands a vote not cast means the percentage required for a seat in government goes down. I will add that our voting system is not dependent on registering as a voter: being a registered citizen makes you get your voting pass from local government automatically. Everytime I see people in my country saying "I'm not going to vote, because I think the system doesn't work for me anyway" I immediately explain that they need to cast a blank vote and explain why that is (a blank vote keeps the percentage required for a seat up, but the blank vote means it won't benefit any party member).

I agree. To be honest, it feels a little strange to see an American speaking so clearly and logically. No offense of course. But usually, whenever I come across American peoples' opinions, there is always a high level of arrogance and hostility towards other nations' viewpoints and cultural traditions. My understanding is that if you say "the algorithm" YT automatically does not count your comment for the algorithm. Weird, right? So I guess what you're supposed to do is comment for the algorithm but not say so. I'm told if you type "I love all (x) videos" where (x) is a particular creator, the rhythm of Al Gore will put future vids from that creator high in your results. I dunno if that boosts for other people but it will indirectly. Because if you see your favorite creators in top billing and click on them within a day of the vid being posted it boosts them pretty well.

I agree with needing more than 2 parties, but I live in the Netherlands (we have around 16 parties), and voting against who you don't want doesn't go away.
It's important to vote. Just to prevent someone horrible from getting into the government. You will at least get a guy who does nothing instead of destroying the country if you vote for Biden.. it's important to do so and for more than two parties you have to engage at a local level, there's probably organizations in your area who fight for a Multi-Party system
@benfearn7961 It would be great to have more parties, but that is not the situation for 2024. With the electoral college, either D or R will end up in office and we need to be sure it’s D this time for the sake of humanity. The third parties that exist here have never done the work to build from bottom up. They need to run for seats they could win at local and state levels, then congressional, instead of futile presidential runs. That is how they could gain political power and recognition to ever have any hope of becoming a dominant party.

The thing people don't understand about abortion is that it applies to terminating the natural process of a pregnancy, and is not limited to just terminating a potential life. This has been demonstrated several times where women who were found out to have nonviable fetuses in them were forced to have a miscarriage and nearly die because abortions were illegal in their states, and those women WANTED a child. Forcing women to carry around rotting death inside themselves until natural ejection is not only abhorrent, but would also make women too scared or too angry to attempt pregnancies.
People are already too scared and angry, and some couples are moving to blue states before they try for a child. Doctors are leaving the red states that won’t allow them to do what is best for the patient. It has also affected where medical school graduates apply for residencies.

As a European, I’m terrified of extremist nationalisms emerging throughout Europe, winning elections while taking advantage of the current world situation, making promises that only exacerbate the division between us, virtually creating the distinction between ‘us’ and ‘them’, appealing for destructive and egotistical policies, which only generates hatred and division. I see the same thing happening in the US, and I’m really worried about how misinformation and ignorance is spreading influencing American public opinion which I read about in social media. But I personally know many Americans who can actually see beyond this situation, despite living in the US and therefore being harder to gain perspective out of it. I can only appeal for contrasting information, protesting in the streets for what you think isn’t right, and pleading for unification and reconciliation. War isn’t the answer, whether is inside or outside our borders.
You should pay attention to what left-wing policies are doing to your own continent. Most European countries have the benefit of being mostly racially homogeneous. This dramatically increases the society's willingness to allow for and participate in social programs, welfare, "unification", etc. These things work well in a society where people all share the same fundamental values, the same heritage, and a shared "story", which are factors that many people overlook or are unaware of. (by the way, this is the same reason you prioritize your own family over strangers.) Where it breaks down (and why we're seeing the backlash that is happening in Europe) is literally when you allow too many "outsiders" into the society. People who have different values (often completely incompatible with the host society), different social norms, and yes, people who look different (much as people like to pretend otherwise, we all favor people who are like us, including appearance). Immigrants from war-torn, savage countries like Syria, Iran, Lebanon etc. have flooded by the MILLIONS into white European countries. People are much more tolerant of, say, giving welfare to some kid who could be their nephew than giving it to an immigrant who comes from a society where they rape women and then stone them to death for the crime of being raped. It's really not surprising that all of these formerly "utopian" societies like Sweden, Denmark, etc. are starting to have these issues.

The American government has shot itself in the head and is bleeding out. Trump was the very result of bad politics casting out Bernie, a truly great leader, in favor of a candidate which had already had a bad running and a bad platform. And I say with total seriousness behind my words that America's infrastructure of leadership not only tied the American citizen's hands in not one but now three critical elections, but that same system of leadership held no reservations in doing this a third time knowing the disastrous possibilities of another four years of 2016. Also continue to criticize Biden - these aren't mutually exclusive. Continue to protest against support for the israeli military (as in the case of the supplies shipment from California to israel that was blocked by muslim and dockworker protesters, continue those types of delays of that support ; and other forms of protest like the 'Uncommitted Delegates' voting during the primaries). And also make sure the republicans aren't voted in (probably by voting for the Democratic party in november). We can do both. Over 66% of the US prefers the democratic party over the republican party but not everyone votes. Get out there and vote ( it's our most basic line of defense ) and after that, keep pushing for a better America.

While I'm not sure how the US system works: in The Netherlands a vote not cast means the percentage required for a seat in government goes down.
I will add that our voting system is not dependent on registering as a voter: being a registered citizen makes you get your voting pass from local government automatically.
Everytime I see people in my country saying "I'm not going to vote, because I think the system doesn't work for me anyway" I immediately explain that they need to cast a blank vote and explain why that is (a blank vote keeps the percentage required for a seat up, but the blank vote means it won't benefit any party member).
In Russia these people are the majority.

My understanding is that if you say "the algorithm" YT automatically does not count your comment for the algorithm. Weird, right? So I guess what you're supposed to do is comment for the algorithm but not say so. I'm told if you type "I love all (x) videos" where (x) is a particular creator, the rhythm of Al Gore will put future vids from that creator high in your results. I dunno if that boosts for other people but it will indirectly. Because if you see your favorite creators in top billing and click on them within a day of the vid being posted it boosts them pretty well.

The third parties that exist here have never done the work to build from bottom up. They need to run for seats they could win at local and state levels, then congressional, instead of futile presidential runs. The thing people don't understand about abortion is that it applies to terminating the natural process of a pregnancy, and is not limited to just terminating a potential life. This has been demonstrated several times where women who were found out to have nonviable fetuses in them were forced to have a miscarriage and nearly die because abortions were illegal in their states, and those women WANTED a child. Forcing women to carry around rotting death inside themselves until natural ejection is not only abhorrent, but would also make women too scared or too angry to attempt pregnancies.
People are already too scared and angry, and some couples are moving to blue states before they try for a child. Doctors are leaving the red states that won’t allow them to do what is best for the patient. It has also affected where medical school graduates apply for residencies.

I see the same thing happening in the US, and I’m really worried about how misinformation and ignorance is spreading influencing American public opinion which I read about in social media.
But I personally know many Americans who can actually see beyond this situation, despite living in the US and therefore being harder to gain perspective out of it.
I can only appeal for contrasting information, protesting in the streets for what you think isn’t right, and pleading for unification and reconciliation. War isn’t the answer, whether is inside or outside our borders.
I share the same fears as an American, I really appreciate this.
You should pay attention to what left-wing policies are doing to your own continent. Most European countries have the benefit of being mostly racially homogeneous. This dramatically increases the society's willingness to allow for and participate in social programs, welfare, "unification", etc. These things work well in a society where people all share the same fundamental values, the same heritage, and a shared "story", which are factors that many people overlook or are unaware of. (by the way, this is the same reason you prioritize your own family over strangers.)
Where it breaks down (and why we're seeing the backlash that is happening in Europe) is literally when you allow too many "outsiders" into the society. People who have different values (often completely incompatible with the host society), different social norms, and yes, people who look different (much as people like to pretend otherwise, we all favor people who are like us, including appearance). Immigrants from war-torn, savage countries like Syria, Iran, Lebanon etc. have flooded by the MILLIONS into white European countries. People are much more tolerant of, say, giving welfare to some kid who could be their nephew than giving it to an immigrant who comes from a society where they rape women and then stone them to death for the crime of being raped. It's really not surprising that all of these formerly "utopian" societies like Sweden, Denmark, etc. are starting to have these issues.

The American government has shot itself in the head and is bleeding out. Trump was the very result of bad politics casting out Bernie, a truly great leader, in favor of a candidate which had already had a bad running and a bad platform. And I say with total seriousness behind my words that America's infrastructure of leadership not only tied the American citizen's hands in not one but now three critical elections, but that same system of leadership held no reservations in doing this a third time knowing the disastrous possibilities of another four years of 2016. Yet they still refuse to provide the true progressive revolution happening in this country ANY sense of solidarity or any leader in the halls of the capitol, let alone a presidential candidate, that represents even a fraction of what the common American citizen wants or needs today.
I sadly have to agree with Bernie here and admit that our only option is to not allow another 2016 to happen, however it is with blistered feet and pained eyes we must bring ourselves to the ballots and vote in a country that has all but disregarded democracy or the betterment of our society- President Bernie Sanders is the winner, was the winner, and always will be the winner of the 2016 election. Bernie is responsible for the wealth inequality because Bernie and the Democrats have used nonstop open immigration since 1967, high taxes, and over regulation to put slack into the labor market year after year. Which gives all the power to employers, driving down wages, and immigration drives up housing prices at the same time. To the point tens of millions of Americans don't have any money left over at the end of the month. And it's the low wages and lack of power at the bottom that allows the excesses at the top. Causing the wealth gap.
Compare that to JFK style conservative policies of using low taxes, smaller government, deregulation, and less immigration to tighten up the labor market. Which gives power back to workers. Raises wages. Allows for advancement. Allows for mobility. Allows people with bad job records or few skills to get jobs. And gives people dignity.
If Democrats actually cared about lower income people, and were capable of compassion and empathy, they would be Kennedy/Reagan conservatives.
