RM said that if he believed in a song he wrote enough to fight for it. .. Bang PD let him put it out. Bang PD set out in the begining to get BTS to tell their own stories. That was his driving concept. To create a group of artists who were also idols. Artist not just performers of someone elses work. The company acting as quality control and providing the experience and expertise to take their work and give it the industry polish.
I misunderstood at times with how much freedom they had to write their music, but now that I have a bit of a better understanding, it makes me happy to know that they were able to express themselves eventually with Bang PD support all the way from the beginning !
Why was JK so cute in this episode? Helping out Suga with his fangift project while letting him sleep, dancing for jhope in the hospital to cheer him up, vacuuming the fruit flies in the middle of the night... and just looking like a baby in his school uniform. 🥺
Suga and Jimin have both had emergency appendectomies. Suga back in 2013, as you saw here, and Jimin just back in 2022. Jimin's situation was kind of scary, actually... he got COVID at the same time, so he was in the hospital for like, a week.
Every time I watch this episode, I'm just so impressed by RM. He's always just been wise way beyond his years.
And Martin--for the record, I was vice president of my school's anime club in high school, lol. It was literally just an excuse to hang out with my fellow nerds after school and watch anime together. Clearly your school didn't have an anime club, or I'm sure you would have done the same. 😂

14:57.... that l11Even is one of the rappers that RM worked with before joining BH ) and when he met up with them later he dissed RM for going to meet them wearing makeup..... he clearly couldn't hack the pace of being a trainee ... and that was basically before Bang PD changed the direction for BTS from being a Hip Hop group to a more mixed based group.... I'm sure this guy is kicking himself sore every day now but I do think he got that RM was stuck between wanting to do his genuine work but also wanting to try to make Hip hop more popular by joining BTS... one of the others who was a trainee back then and decided not to actually join the group is Shin Dong-hyuk (Supreme Boi) he, unlike others, stayed with BH as a producer and still has a great relationship with the members... he has worked on many of their tracks, especially the cyphers... has appeared multiple times onstage during their concerts... is often seen backstage with them (also Jang Yi Jeong (El Capitxn) who is a really close friend of Yoongi and appeared on one of the Suchwita episodes (Both have the full support of Army)... SO moral of the story is you can either remain supportive of what your friends choose to do and understand the reasoning behind their choices (In this instance RM and Yoongi (and later Hobi with his hip hop dance background )knew full well that with BH there was going to be ample opportunity to use their Hip Hop background in creating their own music and exposing a bigger audience to the complexities of Hip Hop/ Rap) or.. you could shit on them and end up like the idiots around that table for the radio interview... most of whom nobody knows or cares about today....
You can't see it well in the video, but Bang PD's drawing was drawn by Jungkook. This drawing has been shown in Daechwita MV and is finally being used as Bang PD icon.

22:00 If I remember correctly, Aneesa the creator of this series, mentioned at some point that the stuff about idols having to follow very strict rules, no creative freedom and restricted to the system their companies have, she deliberately showed clips of BTS 20:30 - 21:00 writing lyrics and producing their own songs that shows it wasn't like that for them. That they had more freedom than what was typical for an idol group and thus BTS were an outlier in the industry.
It might not be as clear to some viewers and I think it is how she chose to present some of the chapters in TROB. The juxtaposition of what people think vs what BTS actually does. It really highlights how unique BTS is.

The scene where jin slams the girl into the locker, 1st, he felt so bad about it he apologized profusely, & also - that was a popular k drama trope at that time. There'd be these "tough guys" / bad boys & that's how it kinda was in some of them 💜

11:22 they got flack for this song, it was more about lust rly- a young guys thirst for girls, & yes boy with love was a response to boy in love - boy with love is about loving the little things about her, wanting to know about her day & everything about her. Its alternative title is "A poem for the little things" or something very similar

50:53 Hobi's dad originally didn't support his dancing as a kid.. his mom did & worked multiple jobs to support his dream. So I think it was even more touching to hear all the support coming from his dad 💜
@@_LVLUP_ JIn is a good actor, watch his face. Then in behind the scenes, the second they cut he is bowing and apologizing and she is laughing at him in a kind way. They did about 4 takes and he did that after each one. It's really cute.
It's so hard for put into words all my feelings about this ep now again. I cried by the way they were treated, but also só hugely proud of what they've become, the ARTISTS they are, achieving leves no one or very, very few will ever get close to.

It's hard to see any of them cry but J-Hope is the hardest for me. I cried when each of them went to the military but I really lost it when J-Hope went. Can't believe he'll be home soon!!💜
i think you slightly misunderstood the intention especially of this episode. the creator of this series intended to highlight the story of bts and how they are different from other kpop groups. yes, they have rules but it is not as strict as other labels to their groups. that's why you see footage of them going out and writing lyrics while it was being said in the video that idols were not allowed to go out or most of the idols don't have the freedom to write their own lyrics 💜
also regarding school uniforms, yes we usually need to wear our uniforms going to schools. most asian countries actually require students to wear it. here in my country, we still have school uniforms even in college.
I think what Martin said was true, though. BTS may have had less rules to follow, but they were still held to idol standards. Yes their company allowed them the freedom to create, but they still didn’t go out, practiced constantly, didn’t date, couldn’t write whatever they wanted, and lived a very different life, even creatively, than someone who was an underground rapper.
Keep plugging away, Martin. ARMY is also your Army too. We look forward to sharing BTS content together. An outsider, even a friend, can’t look at your relationship with your viewers and really understand that we’re a community. As for BTS, they understand that no matter what, ARMY is the one constant in their life for support (and each other).
@@sharonlahaye5803 yes, i'm not denying that they are still held to idol standards even up to this day especially with the ongoing issues right now. but i want him to realize that bts have the freedom to express themselves better than any other idol groups. and i would disagree with what you said, "couldn't write whatever they wanted". yes, they can. they have that freedom that's why they are allowed to write their own lyrics especially the rapline members because they have much more experience in that than the 4 vocalists earlier in their careers. even for the songs that they have released before their debut, they have the freedom to write and express what they wanted to express. they didn't go out because that's what they wanted to do, to practice and rest but they are not particularly being restricted from going out like other idols.
Thank you so much for clarifying a bit more. It is difficult for me sometimes to understand and I do want to understand as much as I can. All criticism is constructive and i appreciate anyone who is able to comment and help me better understand so thank you so much ! 💜 and idk why but i love the idea of school uniforms. Some are against it but ive always been fascinated with uniforms for schools , I think they are super cute tbh and cool !

One is sore until they get up and moving. stretching is important each day. as long as you stay conditioned, and not doing crazy stuff ( like when you're young) you are ok. you do get tired, and muscles burn.
Big Encouraged the guys to write. They had to do mixtapes to get what they want to say on a social level. The censorship in Korea is so strict. No cussing at all, so most groups just play it safe, and only sang bubble gum pop songs. BTS had a hard time because from the jump, they sang about subjects adults didn't want kids listening to.
Thats true, AS I get a little bit older each day, my muscles and body aches if im not as active as I should be 😅 and i think its so amazing how even though the censorship in Korea is so strict the fact they are still able to deliver there messages, words and feelings through their music so flawlessly amazes me so much ! they are the GOAT's 👑

I think in Asia mostly using uniform and JK’s uniform is from SOPA (School of Performing Arts), lots of idols goes there and it’s hard to get in, not all idol could go to SOPA.
All I know is he looked so good in the Uniform and seeing him so young and in school was one of the most adorable things Ive seen so far ! 😅
I wish my school had uniforms tbh I think they are so cool !

plz understand this episode shows two sides, one is typical k-pop system and how the labels/industry work, the other is BTS and Big Hit. These first few episodes can be misleading because it makes you think BTS management follows these guidelines the other idol members from other companies are talking about, but BTS and BigHit don't do those things. Notice how when it is said idols don't have a lot of creative freedom, you see Namjoon and Yoongi writing lyrics, or when it says idols have phone bans or something, you see the BTS members on their phones, or how when idols say they aren't allowed to go outside the dorm, you see Yoongi walking around freely.
It can be a confusing thing for new ARMY to make note of, but PLEASE notice these differences. It is vital to how BigHit runs differently, and therefore why BTS is so different from other idol groups from the very start.
The serie also show the differences between BTS' worries and the other trainees worries. BTS' were worried about their own personal skills (not dancing well enough, song worries, etc), about not getting attention when they debut due to their small company, not having money, while the other trainees seem to be living in fear of being cut from the company at any moment if they make one mistake, worrying about weight quotas, etc. (NB: BTS don't have weight quota, but you often see them doing a diet, before every come-back, to be thiner. It seems to be a very important standard not only for Idols, but for all Korean people, and in a lot of asian culture. ) Obviously BTS had things they had to do too, but instead of using that as a fear to hold over them Bighit seemed to use it to encourage them to work harder and improve themselves. BTS were allowed to make mistakes without worrying they'd be thrown out of the company.
Bang Si-Hyuk , when he created Big Hit, openly stated he didn't like the system that the Idol industry had created and he wanted to do better. So he choose the boys for their talents and raw potential, not for their face (except Jin, none of them fit the very strict "k pop male beauty standards" , that's why anti attack them so badly for being "ugly (!) or "not a idol face", specially RM and J hope, but also Jimin who suffer from bodyshaming because he was cheeky and not thin enough)
BH let the boys have creative freedom, express their opinions, allowed them to talk about issues that many in SK society wouldn't, like mental health, school pressure, disparity in societal classes and so on. ...They don't reach success with the help of the Kpop industry, they succeed against the system. (and everybody can see now that this system still try to destroy them !)
