  • Exploring Aviemore & Rothiemurchus in Scotland. Aviemore is conveniently located, just off the A9, around 30 miles south east of lnverness and is the gateway to the Cairngorms National Park. Aviemore started life as a small inn on the old Wade military road and grew as a village with the arrival of the railway in the 19 century.

Just want to let you know about a couple of fellow Edinburghers, Romana & Ewan, who are making amazing travel vlogs about their adventures around Europe and Scotland. They're lovely, warm people and their vlogs are super fun and informative. I can really recommend checking out their brilliant channel - ua-cam.com/video/wP9qHFySSD4/v-deo.html

Watched this with my family and we "ooooh"ed and "aaaahhhh"ed repeatedly. Absolutely gorgeous photography/videography in a stunning part of the country. We have missed our summer trip to Scotland the last two years and your videos certainly have helped fill the void. Many we have watched multiple times! But this one was just so special I had to comment. THANK you for what you do!

Hi Sheri, thanks so much for commenting and all your very kind words about the video. I am slowly trying to improve the videography. A lot of my filming has to be done very quickly, 'shoot n' run' style, between jobs, but hopefully I can start spending more time in each location as the years progress. I'm really glad you've been enjoying my older videos which means a lot, as I spend a lot of my spare time doing them and it really makes it worthwhile when I know they're being enjoyed. I'm planning to publish a wee bonus video sometime this week and the next big one will be out on the 15th September which I hope you'll enjoy too. Many thanks for subscribing and leaving a comment. It really helps and is much appreciated. Warmest best wishes from Edinburgh, David :-)

Thanks so much Alan, you're always too kind to me. I absolutely loved the train and was there for quite a while beforehand trying to work out an angle, although I just couldn't get the bins out of the shot! I'm a huge fan of the Strathspey railway which I believe is run just by volunteers. It was my first visit to Aviemore for a while and it was nice to see that it was managing to come out the other end of the pandemic in reasonable form. I'm really sorry to hear you had an accident while cycling. I do hope you've managed to recover. I took up cycling a few months ago and have been really enjoying cycling around my home. It's been really good for my health and is a great switch off from the stresses and strains of work. My next video will be out on the 15th September, but I hope to squeeze in a bonus one by the end of the week which I hope you'll enjoy too. Thanks again for all your kind support and for following on me on Instagram. It's always hugely appreciated. Hope you're having a good week and speak to you soon. All the best, David :-)

I love the Cairngorms and your video is a great portrayal of this part and what is there. I like the way you zoom into the mushrooms, wild flowers, barks of trees, water and pebbles etc. Did I see otters in the loch? Thanks for sharing this at a time when I couldn't get to Scotland. Hi Janet, so glad you enjoyed the video and particularly all the wee details. I do my best to try and include them, as I always thing it sets the scene and creates a more rounded feel for the landscape. I hope to have a wee bonus video out this week and then the next formal one will be on the 15th September which I hope you'll enjoy too. Hope you have a lovely week and look forward to speaking to you again soon. All the best, David

That was just gorgeous; I wish I could say I was "in the area". If we ever make it over there, it will have to be when masks are well and truly a thing of the past. Loch an Eilean reminds me a little of Jordan Pond in Acadia National Park. (Minus the castle. )

Hi David, we have just discovered your channel and videos. Excellent photography, subject matter and soundtrack. Well done, and we are looking forward to future content. As a frequent visitor to Scotland ( or were up until 18 months ago ) we have been to many of the locations you feature, but were a little perturbed by the lack of people in Aviemore - - - . We've never seen it so quiet ! Did you film in the early morning or just selective with your filming - - . Just curious really. However, please continue with your videos, and continued success.

Hi Paul, many thanks for getting in touch & subscribing and for leaving such a lovely comment, which I really appreciate. I'm only really getting going now with UA-cam, as the pandemic hit me really hard, as it has so many, and I hope to try and improve the quality of what I'm doing and make it a bit more interesting as time goes on. Yes Aviemore was much quieter, but hopefully it'll pick up next year for all the small businesses which have been on their knees for an awfully long time. Hope you can visit us again soon when things are safer. All the best, David :-)
