For those that didnt know i tried dragonhunter relics on untamed for frost trap my dps went up 3k more then i did using thief. Make sure to use Frost Trap off cool down and watch the dps go up.
Absolutely love dual maces in open world. It flows SO WELL on untamed with the quickness trait. Unleash pet, use all three skills, unleash ranger, unleashed attack then use all your skills with skill 5 last, that will make you go big mode, skill five again, all the other skills, and then just as you finish, your unleash just about comes off cooldown. Back to unleash pet, three skills, unleash ranger, mace unleash skill, swap weapon.
You're not wrong, but maces are absolutely overpowered right now and I'm fairly certain they won't stay that way, as they make other power ranger weapons obsolete damage-wise, while having strong utility which other weapons don't have
Maces aren't really a designated power damage weapon as as far as I understood it, so this build will be fine for the next two patch cycles from what it looks like :)
@@MaselMMO Thanks for turning me on to this build! I am having a blast with it. I went with the marksman variant, relic of the midnight king with both opening strikes traits. The CC and damage in solo play are really satisfying! I've been able to solo every HoT champ, most in around 30 seconds or less. I've even done some legendaries like axemaster in VB. Pretty amazing for a full berserker build using offensive traits. I also took the group variant for a spin in CM fractals, raids, and strikes and it worked great! Also, I wanted to say that I tried pairing sword/axe with maces and it takes the sustain to ridiculous levels without impacting damage. The ability to reset the cooldowns makes maces much more powerful than they appear and the kit is bloated with utility (double CC, stability and other defensive boons, barrier, heals, pet heal). It has great synergy with the opening strikes and midnight king relic, too, since you'll be dropping 4 CCs every rotation into maces! You gotta try this!
lol and other MMO players say GW2 combat isn't complicated because they only have 10 abilities to use. I'm going to link this video next time they say that.
You mentioned hammer could be used at pretty much identical damage - what would the rotation look like with that? And how about longbow in the open world variant?
The rotation would look very much the same :) Use all hammer skills on cooldown, go into unleash pet whenever strom spirit becomes available, done. You can use longbow in OW if you want range, just remember that let loose forces you to weapon swap. So if you want to stay on longbow, you need two of them. Otherwise you'll forcably swap between longbow and your other weapon.
Going to try it i use a hammer mainly untamed with a axe axe or lb for ranged option. I like to raid with untamed so i welcome more options. Aside from tiger any other pets might add hmph in raids
@Masel (Im sorry if i miss something obvious). But in your written guide you say i should swap to "water spirit" yet you say we should use "We heal as one". English isnt my first spoken lang so i maybe missunderstand something. I just got a little confused :) Thanks for a well made guide. It helps me ALOT, just returned to the game after a loooong break so
@@MaselMMO Hope that didnt came out as an complaint or something. I very much appriciate your respons. I was just a bit confused when i saw it since english sometimes makes me miss surtain "points" or the context.
Not really. Opposed to my naive expectation, it is currently an overpowered damage weapon for power ranger builds with lots of utility built into it, so you can use it for now. I don't expect it to outlast the march update in the current state, so for longevity of the guide I won't update it just for a timespan of 3 weeks.
@@MaselMMOyou reckon your judgement on maces is improving, or are you just left hoping for a nerf so the build you released a day early remains relevant? :) I'm teasing you mate, but you kind of set yourself up for it... Have the maces changed at all since the beta preview? They're basically the same I think. There's loads of spec parse mid-40s on the golem now, so any corrections coming are likely to be wide reaching. Given how popular this last patch has been, I'm not convinced ANet have the stomach for it. I think the power creep might be deliberate... We'll see soon enough I guess.
I lose a lot of dps about 19k DPS average with LB but sometimes LB is useful. Like in raids im put on scout duty for W4 Mursaat Overseer i also swap to lead the wind for piercing so i can hit both boss and scout. I go force and air on my lb given i lose dps with force and impact on it. without lead the wind its bout same dps on golem
you can play powerslb with the same gearset, then why would you play untamed? I'm a main ranger and I still don't like what they did with untamed. for me its unplayed.
Because it is tankier and has better self-sustain in open world and allows you to provide quickness to allies in both open world and groups. Solid arguments for it if you ask me ;)
@@HardcoreCasualGW2 if you need to bunker at all, the condition variant has a lot to recommend it also... I switch between them depending on what's going on.
Every time I look at getting back into this game I always remember that I hate having to weapon swap and use 20 keys in rotation. Then I lose interest and move on.
You do know that there are many builds out there that don't use weapon swap, nor use a set rotation, and all you do is mash a couple abilities whenever they come off cooldown, right? Low intensity builds are a thing, indeed some of them just have you autoattack and don't use any of your abilities, if that's what you are looking for.

Bold to make a build the same day we get a new patch xD But I'm sure this build will be just as good. Untamed is very strong.

Do you have a written version?
@samuraichicken2315 current version can be found here: wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Masel/Builds/Untamed
@@MaselMMO Thank you so much! Ranger is my first and main but I've really struggled with this class.
is the open world version of this build still viable?
@ojje2011 absolutely. Add two maces to the kit and bonk your way to victory
@@MaselMMO sounds good, guess the maces would have the same sigils
Question: why thief relic?
I have to ask the same question now i tried Dragonhunter Relic last night my dps went up 3k. I used frost Trap off cool down now to up my dps.
Nice video!

Can I use the long bow as my secondary weapon without losing too much dps? Nice guide btw, i'm new to ranger and i find it really helpful.

Looks to me like it has both better damage and sustain than power slb. In fact, this might be the strongest power build I've seen for solo play.

There are low intensity builds, but its boring though
youll get used to 20 skills, Weaver got 80 skills btw..
