    This is exactly the kind of video I have been looking for for POE for years. Everyone posts build guides and I am not interested in using someone else's build, that's not fun for me.

    I'm sitting here with my first build, was hell trying to get through the acts and thanks for telling the difference between more damage and increased.
    Sitting at 34k combined tooltip DPS with impales after so I do good damage, but I need to review my build to squeeze out more with the "more" nice

    Thanks, that was a great perspective for a newcomer. There is just so much stuff to read and learn about such details. Perhaps I missed it if such a thing exist but it would be interesting to have a summarizing place to list you, for offence or defence, the all types that exists side by side and maybe a rough estimation of preferable order of consideration, something like a tree-graph or I dunno, maybe it's unfeasable or useless/the wrong approach (for an experimented player who wants to go special off-meta builds and such) but for a newcomer, there is just so much to learn but the classification/order of such knowledge is kinda hard to find/get by and integrate into a proper greater picture of the overall underlying system mechanics and how to approach and push it.
    Cause eventually, it all comes down to so many currency investment to learn that this or that approach held, in fact, an inefficient results. But I understand it is strongly a knowledge base game and dumb decisions can be made at any time but besides acting dumb, acting with a lack of knowledge/perspective approach is the most time consuming downside.
    A methodological approach to the knowledge is what I would hope for. But I have seen already a lot more in this single video then in so many hours of readings that did not properly connect together in my weak brain :)

    btw penetration goes into the negative, so if they have 0% resistance and you have 6% pen they have -6% resist, so its still always good to get

      Note however that this does not work with *physical* reduction. Those only go down to 0%.

      He was talking about how the inquistor's Inevitable Judgment ignores enemy resists on crits, which will ignore negative resists too

    i play a cyclone charactere this league i used the belt of the deceiver into red maps. its just very good. and you get a perfect one for like 2 chaos.

    This league was the best teacher of that. Even with op herald stacking people would still forget about chaos Res or something and die with 3shapers/second damage on their hands

    Hello Asmo,
    I've been reading up, watching and theory crafting a build for my next league starter. So far it's pretty good. I can clear t16 maps with the occasional.. woops moment. I've completed cortex, all but one shaper mini-boss and all but one elder mini-boss using the build . I still feel like the build has more potential.
    As I continue to refine my Character, I just can't figure out how to scale my damage anymore.
    I don't know what to do next.
    Is there some a coaching service that can help look over my POB and explain what I'm doing wrong and can maybe help to take it to the next level?

    I got a string of servitude that gives 45 to all elemental resistance and I can wear it a lvl one.
    It will take me to maps on almost every character though you do feel the lack of a life roll about half way through part two of the story.

    This league i went phys impale animate weapons i managed to put on a ring vulnerability on hit which booster dmg a bit but as weps desapear i have to nuke, maps asap to not feel clunky so i think i should and more crit, maybe a 3rd specter (now i use one carnage and one host chieftain).Any advise is wellcome i run basicly gassy's animate weapon build

    Played years to this game, and never, ever be able to replicate a build. Have decent items, choose the same, and never strike a damage near to the build. Im in a point that this game only gives me frustration, i cant do a good build. Have a 550 pdps foil and an astral plate with critical, add anothrr curse, exploding a watchers eye for impale. Cant break 10m damage. If i break it is letting mobs oneshot me.

    Hello nice video, but you dont mention flat damage at all?
    Like for example having a steel ring that gives you 4 to 14 flat phys damage
    How good is that on what circunstance?
    How does flat damage compare to increase, more, and so on?

      Flat damage adds to the base damage which then gets multiplied by the increased damage, then the more damage. Generally, I value flat damage over increased damage and more damage unless my build is severely lacking on more damage multipliers. Ideally, you want to keep your increased to more damage ratio at 50/50 to maximize the bonuses you get from them, with as high base damage as possible. In practice, increased damage is generally a lot more available than either flat physical or more physical (unless youre using facebreakers, in which case increased and flat phys make a much larger difference).

      so for example, if my sword deals 100 damage, and then i get a ring with +10 flat damage, is that then 10% more damage?
      this flat damage gets added to the weapon damage After the Local Increases are calculated right?
      and then the global increases come into play.

      @@cooldepot4378 Yes it is! Let's say you have 100 base damage, an "increased" multiplier of 100% (double) and a "more" multiplier of 20%. Then it would be: (100 x 2) + 200 x 0.2 = 240 , as "increased" comes first and "more" then takes the "increased" value and multiplies that. So if we take the 10 flat damage into the equation, it would look like this: [(100 + 10) + 2] + 220 x 0.2 = 264 , which is a 24 damage or 10% increase compared to before. Assuming I didn't fk up somewhere, you're likely to be correct.

      @@soulsfang this is the one thing he didnt really explain in the video, probably to keep the time down or not confuse anyone.
      I was gonna add it, but you got it covered. :)
      Its a tough concept for new players, or people just bad at math. Most vids just promote MORE is best. And fail to mention diminishing returns, or how adding flat or increased if you're low on that becomes a more multiplier in its own weird way.

    Do u mean more damage is multiplying and increase damage is adding???

      Consider it like this:
      Damage = (base damage x increased damage) x more damage.
      So both increased damage and more damage multiply your damage a simmilar amount. *but* because “more damage” multiplies the damage of base damage *and* your increase damage, it is in 99% of cases more damage than increased damage.
      TL;DR
      increased damage multuplies your damage
      More damage also multiplies your increased damage.

    ok i have a question ... i went with selfcast icestorm ... now that means i have no DOT damage avalibe to me at all, i may use cold to fire but icestorm (firestorm) ignite is kinda meh because the "low" damage hits and because ignite is nonstackable ... im already using curses but thats about it ... there seems to be no other upgrade that i can take to get some new mechanics
    im using support skills to get damage boost like arcane cloak but thats about it ... what now ? does that mean that some non-meta skills like icestorm are doomed because they cant abuse all those physical/chaos DoTs ?? dosnt seem fair to me ...

      Its been 3 years but I still feel like adding my idea here:
      Poison. Make your icestorm poison. Because poison DOT does stack.
      But yeah, not all skills are created equal.

      Multipliers add up with each other to multiply the base and increases

      It works like that:
      {basedmg*(incdmg1+incdmg2+..+incdmgn)}*(moredmg1*..*moredmgn)*(enemy takes increased dmg)*(1-enemy's resistance+resistance penetrating)=final damage

      These kind of games you are supposed to read the guide, study and work the math behind their rules in order to make your builds, its not plug and play like most games

    Bad advises. A lot of them. You miss a lot here, so people that follow this video will trash their builds heavily. For example, only physical damage will benefit from impale. Do not speck into it if you playing with any other damage type. Or that things you said about EE. If you have lightning damage with ignite chance, specking into EE will increase your damage only if ignite damage is higher than initial lightning damage (that's unrealistic). Crit works only for some builds, DoT will not get damage from it. A lot of effects you talking about have word "Nearby" in it and it means that ranged builds will not get any bonuses from it.
    For novice players that can't understand this things that video will be harmful. For experienced players it's just useless.

      EE triggering on hit. Ignite is not hit. So when you hit with lightning+cold damage and inflict ignite, this ignite have 50% more from EE. Or I am wrong? All this arc ignite builds everywhere, you know.
      Anyway, even if I am wrong, it's just list of a things which player need to consider, it's good for new players as well, even if they do not understand something they will read about it, because biggest PoE problem for new players is not "it's hard to understand" but "how da hell I should know about this", so widening knowledge is always good.

      You can use impale with 98% phys to cold on like frostblades. Get the champion asc node for 7 impales to gain 60 added phys damage. And bam tones of damage.
