  • Quite a different sound on this track from British shredder Andy James. Some great shred offset by heavy chords.
    Great track by Andy!

That intro riff is killer imo, sounds so cool. And I don't mind the more "digital" sound.

Too damn good to be so young. I've been playing longer than Andy has been alive, and I can't even begin to fathom his speed and accuracy. -Jealous Much

I visited worlds greatest music show called "Musikmesse" in Frankfurt, Germany. He played a few times at the ESP show room. At the end of the show I asked him for a sign on my shirt and about some things I wanted to know. I also met Michael Angelo Batio there for a sign ;)

Hairband, i use this too, helps reduce background noise, or buzz, just to help you hear the notes yours actually playing just that little bit clearer, really helps when using alot of distortion or overdrive.

@Clefty09 A hairband of some description to mute any string noise that might be generated by accidentally hitting an open string when soloing. Really helps play more cleanly. I think Marty Friedman does the same thing.

One thing i've noticed about andy is that he's not really nu metal in the vein of kirk hammet, dave mustaine. He doesn't chugg on a single note just for the rhythm effect. I guess to be more precise I am referring to the playing style similar to fear factory. I call the nu metal but I'm probably wrong

His self titled album? Not sure, that might have been ESP, but him switching amps really changed his tone. The JP sounds better than an ESP unplugged, more expensive woods. . . both have their pros and cons though

Yeah suh 0:54 He uses his pinky. But the reason it's so strong is because of his Britishness. When they drink tea it is up in the air. Holding it up in the air for 45 minutes everyday will make your pinky as strong as makopuka's biceps muscle. Left of Right Biceps?

The JP is awesome dude, EB/MM is way better than ESP. The JP was not engineered necessarily with metal playing in mind. The different 'un-metal' sound you speak of comes from the different woods of the body and neck, and the active vs passive pickups. Andy only plays ESP because they endorse him, JPs were his real axes

hm i wouldnt say they are way better... but i personally would choose a JP over an ESP any day (but i play ibanez guitars exclusively :P).
however, i think he doesn`t sound really good here.. maybe it has nothing to do with the guitar but more with the amp being used and the mixing but i really think it sucks a bit :P
