Discovering stomach cancer turned Greg Myers' life upside down - and also changed his children's lives in an instant.
As the carrier of a CDH1 gene mutation, Greg had a substantially higher risk of developing stomach cancer to begin with. He discovered that he had cancer in 2021 and quickly started treatments at City of Hope. A study revealed that he had a CDH1 gene mutation, which led him to encourage his grown children to get tested. Greg had a total gastrectomy, and ultimately, his children took steps to safeguard their future. His son opted for a total gastrectomy and his daughter had a total gastrectomy as well as a double mastectomy.
As of 2023, Greg has undergone multiple HIPEC procedures and multiple rounds of chemotherapy to keep his cancer at bay. He is focusing on doing what he loves, including fishing and spending time with his family. His children are both thriving, despite their recent surgeries.
