A lot of people make the mistake of picking the first supplier they find or worse, picking the cheapest one. This could wreck your business before it even starts so in this video, I'm going to show you what to look for and how to avoid making a costly mistake and a key one that can literally ruin your business!
I'm a small business owner just like you. I started my own soap company 30 years ago and let me tell you, it was not all easy. An important thing that I learned along the way was how crucial it is to choose the right supplier and I should know because I owned a large soap making supplies company for well over a decade in England.

I normally have bought my products in bulk. Many years ago I started buying the beeswax pastilles and that was a great choice for me as I didn't use them often at that time. But then I once bought the at the time new cocoa butter buttons. It didn't occur to me that MY location mattered as in South Texas (latitude lower than Cairo, Egypt) the temperature in the summer was well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. They arrived in a giant super hard clump. So I learned to order some things in bulk in cooler months because of where I live.
Felix that's a great point to note for us all
The relationship with a supplier needs to work both ways. Too many suppliers are very poor with communication.
Absolutely agree Amanda. It can be super frustrating for a maker
I have tried finding local supplies for soap making but run out of luck as theres really nothing but wax in NYS.
No telephone number is not a deal breaker. Lack of paperwork, however, is.

Can you give some names of the suppliers where I can get bulk wholesale supplies in the UK please?
Most of the larger suppliers do bulk orders in the UK :)
I would like to ask, what do you think about Now oils?!
God bless you thanks you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏❤️🙏🙏
You are so welcome. So glad you enjoyed it
I think we are very lucky in the UK to have quite a few great companies. Joining Facebook groups helped me with personal recommendations.
Totally agree!
hi. can you please share which ones? thanks
@@Vanessa-lima global.gmarket.co.kr/item?goodscode=757049060 its the 500g / 1600 version that I use :)
Would you not recommended Flexi assessments then? As they often tie you into purchasing from a supplier? Thank you
You can get a flexi assessment direct from an assessor that will not tie you to a supplier too Debs
@@SoapSchoolUK I thought they all did. I shall have a look. Thank you very much
Hi Sara whats the size of your mold?
500g mould is what I like to use - a half sized batch
Hi can you make honey soap
Yes, we made one a little while ago. you can watch it here ua-cam.com/video/DsMO0e-1pmw/v-deo.html
go on then, tell us which suppliers to use
It depends entirely where you are. There is no one best option, some may have great deals on some items and another supplier may be better for other items like essential oils. I like to work with local suppliers when possible and I learnt the hard way to never have only one supplier as when they had a fire and closed for 6 months I had no relationship built up with an alternative. Building a relationship and connecting with the suppliers beliefs and mission are just as important. What are their sustainability ethics, do they support small business, how are they helping or giving back in the community as well as fast shipping options, quality and price.
