    As much as I consider Wheels MFG a competitor. Respect to the guy (and the company), he said everything that is true and didn't sprout out any BS.

      Yeah and my wheels mfg bb spins forever for less than half the price of the bb Infinite bottom bracket clones you try to sell

    • @Hambini
      @Hambini Рік тому +43

      @@phenofinder9145 Well that statement is factually incorrect. BB infinite installs from the non drive side, mine don't. BBinfinite has a "preload" sleeve which is a fundamental part of their patent which mine doesn't have (I think it's a waste of time and weight) and finally, you need compressed air tools (an air hammer) to remove a BBinfinite bottom bracket.
      I trust that gives you the necessary response to clarify the inaccuracies in your statement. But should you need any help (in whatever area), please don't forget to consult your local hairdresser for a suitable haircut.

    This format reminds me of Fred Rogers' (aka, Mr. Rogers) format. In many episodes, he met his TV viewer at his house, took the viewer with him on a visit to a friend (e.g., a shoe salesman), summed up the lessons post-visit, and took the viewer back to his house. I don't know if such a format was intentional, but I really enjoyed it and found it oddly comforting. Now you need a red sweater! Thank you!

    I had a Giant Defy. Press fit bottom brackets creak, period. It’s natural to assume that. I hate creaks so I will investigate right away. It took a year to stop the creak including trying a wheels manufacturing BB. It made noise after a couple of weeks. Press fit BB’s are now a deal killer for me. My current bike has a T47 threaded bottom bracket making it easy to service. I don’t need an expensive bearing press! I also use Morgan Blue aqua proof paste. It’s the bottom bracket silencer!

Gonna get new brake pads and re-bleed the system, probably the cassette that needs replacing as well. Fun and games.

    Every new build I do gets a Wheels MFG bottom bracket. My previous gravel bike got one when it was brand new and then a replacement around 7,500 dirty, nasty miles later. Their screw together press fit was the only thing I tried that kept my BB silent on that bike. My new bike, thankfully has T47, and it got a Wheels BB as well.

    When I saw him pound the side of the crank after installing the BB 86 he said it was a tight fit. When I put the crank into my Hambini BB it went into place with hand pressure no pounding required. Obviously a precision designed and engineered component

    • @galenkehler
      @galenkehler Рік тому +1

      That tight fit is largely from the misalignment you get from the frame. The hambini design being one-piece largely corrects that and offers a straighter line for the crank to pass through.

    I was under the impression that for press fit into carbon bb shells you need to use some form of loctite. Doesn’t grease make carbon expand ? Years ago I used grease on my carbon seat post and struggled to remove it afterwards.

      You are right; the crank did need to be replaced. I had just set up an appointment to tour Wheels and have Dan explain their processes when I thought it was my bottom bracket. So I just went ahead with the story anyway.
