Monthly test of the tornado sirens in Illinois. This 2805 is located inside the bell tower at City Hall in Lake Forest. It sounds voice and 1 minute 30 second alert. The reason why it does 4 voice messages is because the rest of the system is 4004's, and they all need to rotate between the messages and do voice in four directions before the test.
After Lake Forest ends their test, you may hear more Whelens and something I wasn't expecting to sound. I was shocked to hear the Thunderbolt in Lake Bluff wind up and go for 3 minutes of alert. At first I didn't know where it was coming from, but then I remembered that Lake Bluff uses their Thunderbolt for backup if the 2001-130 isn't working. I'm guessing that's why the bolt went off but not the 130. I may try recording that bolt next month, so hopefully it goes again. Anyhow, Sirens in Illinois are tested on the 1st Tuesday of every month at 10:00 AM.

I’m not sure if you went today or not, but the thunderbolt in Lake Bluff did not go off (then again I may not hear it from where I am in LF)

Thanks for letting me know. And I was elsewhere in the state today actually.
