Definitely vent to atmosphere. I get it..... recirculating is better for performance, but that sound of the BOV just puts a big smile on my face and is worth it!
I still have it recirc. The car is actually tuned for recirc. So it wouldn't run correctly going to atmosphere. But with the intakes, I hear them a ton!!
vent to atmosphere sounds good but if the car is tuned to recirculate id keep it that way. id ask the guys in the forums to see if it affects the engines longevity before settling to venting it out
U can't run a vent to atmosphere bov on a car with a maf sensor. As the maf is meters the air coming in before reaching the turbo or getting compressed and sent to the engine so the engine is sent fuel for the metterd air. If u vent to atmosphere then u loose that meeterd air causing the engine to run rich. And stall. So if u run the maf sensor after the turbo then if wont matter but if its before the turbo then u want to keep the recerc valve this will also keep the engine from running rich or lean out after.
Thx b4s. Did this myself this weekend. Not a hard job at all. Just be careful with those v band clamp screws. They will drop in there and you'll never find them. They come out easy too. That driver side is super snug too
I am new to your chanel, after see this clip I subscribed, my reason is you so fare seem not to over edit, its good to see things go wrong, I mean it shows everyone you too are only human, I hate it when ppl cut errors out, or edit angles for silly reasons, keep up the honest vlogs. look forward to viewing other work's.
You should really make sure you tune the car if you plan on venting to atm. If you vent to atm instead of recirc, the engine dumps a lot more fuel into the cylinders since it is expecting that amount of air. Now since that air is no longer present you have excess fuel which will foul your plugs over time. You can fix this with a speed density tune.
great video bro, but I do recommend covering around the engine bay with protective covers so you dont drop anything on top of fenders, headlights or drop tools inside the bumper, it made nervous when you use the sides of engine bay to push the inserts on the pipes, if that slips out you made end up with a huge scratch or dent on the front feeder...
There is a reason for venting into the admission of your engine instead of venting to atmosphere, it is all about the transitions ... In some very rare case, your engine admission will create negative pressure (you are accelerating) but your blow off valve is open and venting yet. You may suck up dirt into the admission, while in this transition mode of your intake system. On a seriously expensive engine like the GTR, if you use it daily, we all use a proper filter, at least! (Drifting on a dirty road will mess up your engine for sure). The best way to get a nice blow off valve sound on the GTR is to install the GT3 turbos, like on the Nismo.
Atmospheric all day long, its sounds incredible! I have every intention to buying a Gallardo for my next car, but after watching your videos the GTR is coming up in the list of potential next cars!
Vent to Atmosphere is amazing, but the recirculate is better for performance as well as lifespan. vent to atmosphere does cause the car to run a bit rich as the air in the system is vented but the fuel is not
Oh cool! My GTR is for sale currently! At Champion Car Company. Here is my video on doing vent to atmosphere. You'll need speed density tuning to run that. ua-cam.com/video/IAKJSP8_ZEQ/v-deo.html
Beautiful car, And i have never seen such a clean engine bay. And i would always suggest never alter the Stock Specs. You could have modified your car exhaust instead.
I’ve done a new exhaust twice! But this mod won’t hurt the car in any way! ua-cam.com/video/Kmpj04mYw7w/v-deo.html Mods do ad risk. But these cars can handle it. Currently makes 700 HP on E85. Never had an issue with it ;)
Are there any videos on UA-cam of the GT-R turbo spool sounding off? I can't seam to find one single video of the turbo noise of the GT-R and it's frustrating!
I have subscribed. Please keep pumping out diy vids for the gtr. You have no idea how hard it is to find diy vids on this car. Everyone wanna park hard and do instagram pics with the gtr but nobody shows how to work on one..... Gtr tax i guess
Miguel Cruz I'm not sure. When I plugged the hoses and ran these to atmosphere, the car did start idling weird. So maybe I'll only do that once I tune it
You can’t vent off the air with a MAF without experiencing idling issues or stalling when the engine at low RPMs. That’s due to too much gas being injected. The MAF calculates how much air being sucked in including the air being recirculated, and the EMS injected fuel accordingly, which causes the engine to run rich. You can replace the MAF with a blow through MAF or MAP sensor.
Hi can you help, What does this upgrade actually do? I can’t wrap my head around why this would get upgraded on stock turbos? I want to decide if I should do this
Honestly it will just hold the most better. THe stock one might let 1 psi escape, these won't. You won't really notice any actual difference with that. But these sound much better. If you plan to upgrade the car with mods and turn up the boost with tuning, these will just hold up better. The stock ones will be pushed to the limit with a tuned car. I still have these and my car is now making 700hp on E85. So these are more durable
You'll love it! Very fun to have the extra power when you want! But I only put in E85 every now and then to keep my fuel system in good shape lol. Too much E85 can melt the plastics inside the tank and lines.
Looks good. I have a question I have concern about blow off valve. I’m looking the get the greddy blow off valve but wasn’t sure if you need a tuned for them?
I wouldn't recommend running atmosphere. The GTR is not tuned for that. It'll actually run very poorly if you do that. I ran it like this for a bit. And after a few accelerations the car felt weird. Recirc gives you less lag too
I wasn't even tuned when I installed these. As long as you do recirculation valves, you wont need any tuning. My car is now FBO on E85. And I did try out vent to atmosphere. You will need speed density tuning for that setup. ua-cam.com/video/IAKJSP8_ZEQ/v-deo.html
my one and only problem and therefore my question is , why doesn't sound "VVVSSSHHH tutututututu" ??? what makes the difference ??? is it the size of the turbo or the blow of valve ???
It's because this is a recirculation valve rather then venting to atmosphere. It does make some of those noises, but the camera really doesn't pick it up. ua-cam.com/video/xPDBPi_-mfI/v-deo.html
@bros FOURR Speed So I just ordered this exact set up, just without the recircs, full vent to atmosphere. Question though, since it seems like you actively monitor your IATs, have they stayed the same with the powder coated pipes? Or possibly dropped?
You shouldn't notice any difference in intake temps with these pipe being powder coated or not. However the GTR is not tuned to run atmosphere valves. So make sure you have a tune ready to go so the car runs correctly. I now have the AAM upgraded intercooler and that dropped my intake temps by about 10-20 degrees!
Sup, what did AAM say when you told them that you’d like to change from a 370z to GTR ? By the way, you should really investigate in a torque wrench !!
if the car is setup to recirculate you are loosing performance because the car thinks its gonna have air where there isn't because you have been a plonker and vented to atmosphere, it will cause more lag aswell.
from what i was taught yes, too much boost pressure from the pipe will make that turbo flutter sound when you let off the gas. if your pushing 1 bar and up it can force the turbo fans to slow down and possibly spin the opposite direction causing the turbo to seize
Blow off valves! from the thumbnail I first thought you were installing hella horns lol.

Bros FOURR Speed maybe the camera mic didn’t pick it up, but as long as you can hear it that is good.
vent to atmosphere sounds good but if the car is tuned to recirculate id keep it that way. id ask the guys in the forums to see if it affects the engines longevity before settling to venting it out
Since the BOV is before the MAF then it is blowing out unmetered air, so it won't matter if you vent to atmosphere.
U can't run a vent to atmosphere bov on a car with a maf sensor. haha yeah! Ive dropped a bolt or two in the engine bay. Not fun. Cool mod tho!
Keep it recirculating ;)
Those bolts you marked are banjo bolts, it doesn't matter what angle they're at.
Vent to atmosphere 100%... all day
suli FL yep
suli FL nah
why?
Vent to atmosphere requires deleting the MAF sensors and converting over to speed density, then having the ECU retuned for it.
this ^ but dont forget to convert to SD first, or it will run like shit.
You’re living my dream! I freaking love your vids!! Do more with the GTR like driving!
Finally a UA-camr that works on his gtr ...This channel is inspiring me
Appreciate it! I'll pretty much do everything on this car

Recirc for performance in a GTR. If you had an older JDM then atmos for sure but you’ve got to respect Godzilla ✊

haha nice! A Gallardo is on my list in a few years! But the GTR for half the price is a ton of fun and super fast!
What did you end up getting
Look up speed density tuning if you prefer venting to atmosphere, otherwise you will run rich.
Vent to Atmosphere is amazing, but the recirculate is better for performance as well as lifespan. vent to atmosphere does cause the car to run a bit rich as the air in the system is vented but the fuel is not
I’ll be getting my first GTR soon, and I love your videos! Will it need a tune if I replace the BOV if I keep it recirculating? Thanks in advance!
Oh cool! My GTR is for sale currently! At Champion Car Company.
Here is my video on doing vent to atmosphere. You'll need speed density tuning to run that. ua-cam.com/video/IAKJSP8_ZEQ/v-deo.html
The rubber orings under your BOV don't look to be under the flange of the BOV ?
The go between the two aluminum pieces to make the seal tight
@@BrosFOURRSpeed yep, it just looked like the oring came out of the groove.

I believe someone makes a 2 stage bov. Under light load acts as a recirculating valve, under full load its a vent to atmosphere.
It's HKS.

What is the benefit of installing it ? What is it for
I say keep the blow off valves recirculating. Isn't there blow off valves that you can adjust how much you want to vent and recirculate?
Recirc...you will have issues with an atmospheric blow off.. It is tuned for the recirc
Wouldn’t switching it to atmospheric BOV make your car run rich due to the calculated air flow?
Miguel Cruz I'm not sure. When I plugged the hoses and ran these to atmosphere, the car did start idling weird. So maybe I'll only do that once I tune it

What happened to you with the socket has happened to me soooooo many times with my Z 😭
lol, it always happens!
Are you planning on installing the pops and bangs map?
Andrew Waterhouse when I do the downpipes I'll be tuning it. I want to shoot flames!
I’m sure the fine gentlemen at SOHO would be more than happy to assist with that 👍🏾👍🏾

You gotta switch up that music. Been hearing the same thing for like 3 years now 😅
Whatsvtge name of the song or music
I think I've heard that same song on other youtuber's channels. It really is 'blaze' music
Depends if ecu relies on maf andvwhere its position is, you might get a rich or lean condition when it ventsbto atmosphere....good ol nubs!
Don't vent to atmosphere until you tune for it.
i actually got nothing supercar related in my feed, now i do.
and gz to the upcoming 100k subs that i just helped achieve haha.
Keep it recirculating! VTA sounds cool but I'd choose performance over sound. I'll probably go with Tial as well when the time comes and I go FBO E85.
Do a before and after with the atmosphere on both OEM and new one
Blow off valves! I have a HKS Blow off valve and sounds wicked. Sort of sounds like a giant whip!
DUDE I HAVE THE SAME GTR THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO I ORDERED ALREADY !
Awesome!
Looks good. I have a question I have concern about blow off valve. I’m looking the get the greddy blow off valve but wasn’t sure if you need a tuned for them?
What kind of car? For the GT-R, it would need a tune for a vent to atmosphere BOV. My Genesis Coupe from back in the day did not need one
Where could i get the copper plug to use mine as atmos?
I wouldn't recommend running atmosphere. The GTR is not tuned for that. It'll actually run very poorly if you do that. I ran it like this for a bit. And after a few accelerations the car felt weird. Recirc gives you less lag too

How much were the bov? Are they $250 each or for a set
I bought them as the full kit from AAM with the intercooler pipes. Not sure just the valves tho
Keep them open! Got mine like that in gti, cool impression, people are scared when you are passing them 😁👍
my one and only problem and therefore my question is , why doesn't sound "VVVSSSHHH tutututututu" ??? what makes the difference ??? is it the size of the turbo or the blow of valve ???
It's because this is a recirculation valve rather then venting to atmosphere. It does make some of those noises, but the camera really doesn't pick it up.
ua-cam.com/video/xPDBPi_-mfI/v-deo.html
Thank you for replying ! Okay I think I know what you are saying now !
do you need to tune the car after this install?
Not if you do the recirc. If you ran them as vent to atmosphere, the GTR will not run right. Still have these on now with FBO!
@bros FOURR Speed So I just ordered this exact set up, just without the recircs, full vent to atmosphere. Question though, since it seems like you actively monitor your IATs, have they stayed the same with the powder coated pipes? Or possibly dropped?

What size is that valve block off ?
What valve block off? These are recirculation valves just like stock

Those are bigger than my turbos :D 335i owner here wishing for bigger turbos :)
not a good idea to vent to atmosphere when ur car is tuned to recirc. unless you are already running speed density and not maf
You should up load more
The "socket" ? , Im sure he meant the "ratchet". Good vid. I dropped plenty of wrenches and ratchets inside my ZL1.

Yes
overstatement
recirculate. ill go with performance over sound all day ! unless you tune the car to atmosphere . keep it Recirculate on stock ECU tune .
Good tip. The car did run a bit odd when i plugged the recirc hose
Hey guys, just curious: why would someone want to buy aftermarket blowoff valves? Does it affect performance? Or maybe louder shhhh sound?
the stock bov will start to leak pressure when you increase boost. aftermarket bov on stock tune is only for looks and sound
For a second i thought i was watching Futurama gangster robot porn. "CLAMPS!...CLAMP...CLAMPS!"
Are you ever going to do a Tune on this GTR ?

You cant vent to atmosphere on a car designed to recirculate its gonna mess up your air:fuel ratio
The blow off valve blows off excess boost?
from what i was taught yes, too much boost pressure from the pipe will make that turbo flutter sound when you let off the gas. if your pushing 1 bar and up it can force the turbo fans to slow down and possibly spin the opposite direction causing the turbo to seize
The Wastegate is what releases excess pressure to maintain a desired boost level. The BOV just holds the pressure until off the throttle.
You should of cleaned those throttle bodies while you were at it.
Louis Vazquez I don’t think he is a real mechanic
